A newly released report indicates that officers at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in Manhattan, N.Y., were dumping an “unusual” amount of shredded material just days after Epstein’s death.

The report comes from The Miami Herald, which analyzed thousands of documents by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) related to deceased financier and convicted child sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

“The discovery was only one of many suspicious events that unfolded in the days and weeks both before – and after – Epstein’s death,” Julie K. Brown and Claire Healy of The Miami Herald reported.

According to the documents, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was informed that officers from the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ After Action Team were shredding bags of documents following the launch of a probe into Epstein’s death.

Multiple accounts from an inmate and correctional officers at MCC recount the events that took place on Aug. 15 and 16 following Epstein’s death on Aug. 10, 2019.

“They are shredding everything,” an inmate told one of the guards.

According to the inmate, he was ordered to help unfamiliar officers shred the documents and then throw bags of shredded material into a dumpster located at MCC’s rear gate.

A corrections officer at MCC also called the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center on Aug. 16 at 6:28 p.m. to report that he had “never seen this amount of bags of shredded documents coming out to be put in the dumpster at the rear gate of MCC.”

“I believe that this conduct may be inappropriate for [an] investigative team to be shredding paperwork related to the investigation and you may want to investigate why BOP employees are destroying records,” wrote another correctional officer stationed at the rear gate in a written memo to investigators on Aug. 19, 2019.

In its report, The Miami Herald also uncovered reports of the first call to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center, interviews with the inmate and correctional officers, the “suspicious” ruling of Epstein’s death as a suicide, an anonymous letter sent to a federal judge implying the “government” is covering up the destruction of the records, and “suspicious” cash deposits of three correctional officers who were on duty the night of Epstein’s death.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Shultz (D-Fla.) recently spoke with CNN to address the current war in Iran, commenting on the Trump administration’s handling of the conflict and on the possibility of President Donald Trump deploying ground troops into the Islamic Republic.

In a social media post on X, Rep. Shultz shared a clip of her speaking to a CNN reporter. In the caption, she wrote, “Trump’s Iran operation is poorly planned and puts our troops at risk.”

“That’s unacceptable.”

In the video, Rep. Wasserman Schultz comments that "making sure that this operation was executed smoothly and with preparation for the best possible outcome and the least amount of impact on Americans is where they’ve obviously fallen short.” “For President Trump to, you know, be really cavalier and just basically say that the result of war is going to be, inevitably, the death of service members, American service members, when he has not articulated clear goals, is unacceptable," she added.

Rep. Shulz's Previous Statements on the War in Iran

Rep. Shultz has previously addressed her concerns for potential casualties resulting from the conflict in Iran, which began on Feb. 28 after the U.S and Israeli military launched joint kinetic military airstrikes against Tehran.

“My first concern is for the safety of our service members, diplomats, and civilians in the region, as well as the security of our allies who Iran has targeted with missile strikes in retaliation,” Rep. Shultz said in a statement published on her website the same day as the strike. “The limited information we have received is unclear and unsatisfactory on how Trump’s strategic objectives will be accomplished through military airstrikes alone."

In a previous post via X, the Florida Democrat also ridiculed President Trump’s handling of the conflict, labeling it “the most predictable, self-inflicted energy crisis in history,” referring to the Trump administration’s lifted sanctions on Russia and Venezuela, as well as the proposed lifting of sanctions on Iran.

BUDAPEST— During a media event prior to the kick off of CPAC Hungary in Budapest, CPAC’s Matt Schlapp told The Floridian that he thought it was disingenuous of influencers like Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and from former sex tape beauty queen Carrie Prejean Boller, to assert that President Donald Trump somehow allowed “the evil Jews” in Israel to pressured him into waging war against Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu call the claim "fake news."

The Statements (some of them)

"Trump has betrayed America and expects you to die for Israel,” said Owens. “Donald trump is treacherous. He is engaged in treachery with his Zionist cabal. we are currently engaged in a war in the middle east that we cannot win to be clear.”

"This is Israel's last chance to drag the U.S. into a war because future generations of Americans are tired of Israel," said Carlson

When asked about his thoughts over the accusation, Schlapp stated:

“I mean, I read it. I see it. I don't buy it.

I know Donald Trump really well, I just don't see anybody manipulating him into a war. I don't think he likes war. I don't think he wants to use the military unless it's absolutely necessary…I think it's a really insulting statement to a president that they all claim to really like and support to say that he's so feeble minded that somehow the evil jews are convincing him to get into war.

 I just I don't buy it.”

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that all United States and State of Florida flags will be at half-staff on Saturday, Mar. 1, to honor the memory of U.S. Army Reserve Captain Cody A. Khork.

"To honor Captain Cody Khork, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, and all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the City of Winter Haven from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, March 21, 2026," DeSantis wrote in a release.

Khork, from Winter Haven, was killed in a drone strike at a U.S. Army command center in Kuwait as part of "Operation Epic Fury" against the Iranian regime on March 1.

The attack also took the lives of five other service members. Florida officials, including Gov. Ron DeSantis, honored Khork after the announcement of his passing.

Khork enlisted in the United States Army in 2009. During his service, Khork served as a Multiple Launch Rocket System/Fire Directions Specialist and was commissioned as a Military Police Officer in 2014.

"He is remembered not only for his service to our Nation and State but as a true American hero who exemplified the values of patriotism, leadership, and selfless service. Our prayers go out to the family he leaves behind," DeSantis added.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Friday that the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Puerto Rican-based Nodus International Bank (Nodus Bank), Tomás Niembro Concha, pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit both a multimillion-dollar wire fraud scheme and to evade U.S.-imposed sanctions on Venezuela.

“The defendant abused his position as CEO, turning the bank he managed into his own personal ATM and unlawfully transacting with a sanctioned individual,” Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva of the DOJ’s Criminal Division said.

“The defendant’s crimes undermine the integrity of our financial system, threaten economic prosperity, and harm national security. The Criminal Division will investigate and prosecute fraudsters to protect financial markets and promote safety and prosperity for all Americans,” Duva added.

According to U.S. court filings, Concha, of Miami, Fla., used his position as CEO to conspire with others to funnel more than $24 million from Nodus Bank and to hide conflicts of interest, which led to the bank’s failure in 2023.

“Niembro pleaded guilty to a two-count Information charging conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA),” according to the press release published on the DOJ website.

U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones for the Southern District of Florida also confirmed that the scheme involved efforts by Concha to evade U.S. sanctions linked to Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, PDVSA.

The court filings reveal that from 2017 to 2023, Concha, Board Chairman Juan Ramirez, and other co-conspirators loaned themselves $11 million for their own benefit by having Nodus Bank invest $11 million in a Miami-based lender.

“Between 2021 and 2023, Niembro conspired with others to conduct prohibited financial transactions with an individual designated as a Specially Designated National (SDN) by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) for providing material support to Venezuela’s state-owned oil company, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA),” the court filings add.

As the "crazy" House Democratic partial government shutdown continues to wreak havoc at airports across the nation with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) agents entering another week without pay, Florida gubernatorial candidate, Rep. Byron Donalds (R) is calling on House Democrats to "step up and do the right thing" and fund the Homeland Security Department.

In a short social media video taken on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, Rep. Donalds called the TSA lines at airports "crazy" and blamed Democrats of being solely to blame for shutting down the Department of Homeland Securit.

"It's crazy TSA lines are long everywhere and that's for one reason and one reason only, the Democrats have shut down Homeland Security airline travel is getting backed up and it's simply because the Democrats will not fund Homeland Security, especially with what's going on right now in Iran it's just simply crazy," said Rep. Donalds. "It doesn't make any sense , and so what we were pushing for is that the Department of Homeland Security needs to get funded."

Congressional Democrats want to fund TSA and other government agencies within Homeland Security in a seperate bill. Democrats refuse to support an existing legislative measure that would fund the entire department because the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would also receive funding.

Democrats refuse to fund ICE due to its recent crackdown on illegal aliens across the country.

Donalds continued, saying that Democrats refusing to pay TSA and other government law enforcement agencies is compromising national security.

"We need to make sure that these agents are being paid and not just them our border agents our customs agents they have to be paid as well these are Americans who are working hard every single day and now their families are going without because of petty politics on Capitol Hill, he added. "The Democrats need to step up do the right thing its time to fund the Homeland Security Department, so we can move forward make sure the homeland is secured and make sure that the American people's lives are not being interrupted."

U.S. airports are seeing unprecedented TSA delays, some as long as 4 hours.

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a federal lawsuit against Harvard University on Mar. 20, alleging that the school violated a federal civil rights law by discriminating against Jewish and Israeli students.

The DOJ claims that since the Hamas attacks on Oct. 7, 2023, the university has allowed antisemitic groups of students, faculty, and visitors who have allegedly assaulted, harassed, and intimidated Jewish and Israeli students “with perceived racial, ethnic, and national connections to Israel” to express their opposition to Israel.

“Harvard has been deliberately indifferent to its Jewish and Israeli students’ plight and failed to prevent such conduct by selectively enforcing its campus rules to permit it to continue,” The DOJ shared in a press statement published on their website.

The 44-page complaint is the latest effort in the Trump administration’s ongoing legal battle with Harvard since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term. The administration has also sought to cancel billions of dollars in federal funding to the university in response to Harvard’s alleged failure to address antisemitism on campus.

According to CBS News, the school previously sued the Trump administration over its efforts to freeze funding. A federal judge ruled in Sept. 2025 that the government violated both Harvard’s First Amendment rights and federal law by blocking nearly $2 billion in federal grants.

“Since October 7th, 2023, too many of our educational institutions have allowed anti-Semitism to flourish on campus – Harvard included,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi, according to the media statement. “Today’s litigation underscores the Trump Administration’s commitment to demanding better from our nation’s schools and putting an end to discriminatory behavior that harms students.”

“The United States’ complaint seeks to compel Harvard to comply with Title VI [of the Civil Rights Act of 1964], and to recover the taxpayer funds that Harvard accepted while in violation of Title VI,” DOJ wrote.

Chuck Norris, the famed actor and martial arts champion, has passed away after a sudden hospitalization in Hawaii.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Norris' family announced his passing, saying that they will "keep the circumstances private."

"To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family," the family said.

Aside from notable roles on the silver screen like 1972's Way of the Dragon, which Norris starred in with Bruce Lee, he was also known for TV hits like Walker, Texas Ranger, a show where Norris starred as Texas Ranger Sergeant Cordell Walker, a former Marine who lives by the code of the Old West.

Norris was also known for his staunch conservative views, often voicing his support for conservative policies and lawmakers.

On August 16, 1990, he created the Kick Drugs Out of America Foundation, a martial arts character development program non-profit organization, that would later be known as Kickstart Kids. In 1992, President George H.W. Bush helped implement the program in four schools in the Houston area. The program teaches kids the virtuous traits that martial arts has to offer.

"He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved," the family's statement continues. "Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives."

As a cultural icon, Norris became a symbol of unyielding strength, stoicism, and a kind of mythic masculinity that felt both timeless and untouchable. The folklore that grew around him, which was absurd, exaggerated, and often humorous, was never meant to diminish him, however. Instead, it elevated him into a pop culture legend.

Norris was 86.

The Florida House Republican Campaign Committee recently released a campaign mailer slamming Democratic candidate Emily Gregory's immigration positions as "wrong" and "dangerous" while touting GOP candidate Jon Maples as the choice to keep Floridians safe in the special election for House District 87.

"Emily Gregory's agenda isn't just wrong, it's dangerous," the mailer reads. "She's advocating for the ideas that endanger Floridians and continue the left's agenda of lawlessness."

The mailer also calls Gregory a "soft on crime liberal," warning that her policies, if elected, would "threaten our safety and jeopardize our neighborhoods."

The mailer includes an August 2025 social media post in which Gregory thanked organizers of an anti-ICE vigil (Vigil for Children) for advocating for the return of her allegedly "wrongfully" deported babysitter's father and asking for donations to return him to the U.S.

Another mailer attacks Gregory while showing the arrests of six men for serious sex crimes and violent offenses.

"If Emily Gregory were in charge, these criminal alien sexual predators & violent criminals would be on our streets," the mailer reads. It also notes Gregory's anti-ICE attendance to demonstrations, calls to "end deportations," and efforts to raise money for deported illegal immigrants to return to the U.S.

Maples, a career financial planner and former collegiate basketball player, is running against Gregory for the HD 87 seat, which covers parts of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach Shores, North Palm Beach Shores, South Palm Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Juno Beach, Hypoluxo, and Lantana in Palm Beach County.

A supporter of President Donald Trump's "America First" economic agenda, Maples received Trump's endorsement in January. Maples has also been endorsed by Rep. Meg Weinberger (R-Palm Beach Gardens) and Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier.

Another mailer highlights Maples as a "tough, committed, conservative" and a supporter of Florida's illegal immigration crackdown, including law enforcement deporting illegal immigrants convicted of violent crimes.

The HD 87 special election is on Mar. 24.

Supercon’s Artist Alley is a popular attraction, showcasing Florida authors, artists, and creators who are sure to draw in new fans.

Cosplay is another cornerstone of the Supercon experience, with fans bringing their favorite characters to life in stunning detail. Whether you’re watching the cosplay contests or simply walking the convention floor, the creativity on display adds an electric energy to the weekend.

Gaming areas, celebrity guest appearances, and fan meetups round out the experience, making Florida Supercon as much about community as it is about entertainment.

Jorge Perez owns the oldest comic bookstore in Florida, A&M Comics & Books – a South Florida mainstay that celebrates its 52nd anniversary this year. As well, In 2023, the Miami New Times declared it the best comic book shop.

When asked about the importance of Florida Supercon, Perez told The Floridian, “An event like Florida Supercon is important to the comic book community because fans get to meet and see the diversity in their ranks.” He added, “It harkens back to the day when people would go and actually meet people and not just meet online where there is no sense of community or personal interaction.”

If you’re new to the world of comic books and don’t know where to begin, Perez has you covered.

“Right now, the comic book world has been taken over by the ‘Absolute’ storylines that have caught the comic book industry by storm,” he said, pointing to Absolute Martian Manhunter and Absolute Wonder Woman as standouts.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced the death of a 19-year-old Mexican migrant at a county jail in Florida that has been holding immigrant detainees, according to The Associated Press (The AP).

The AP revealed that Royer Perez-Jimenez’s death on Monday is the 46th death reported under ICE custody since the beginning of President Donald Trump’s second term in Jan. 2025.

ICE states that Perez-Jimenez “died of presumed suicide,” as the official cause of death remains under investigation.

Perez-Jimenez’s death is the second to take place under ICE custody this week, following the death of Mohammed Nazeer Paktiawal, who died of unknown causes in a Texas hospital after being detained by ICE agents in North Texas on Mar. 14.

Since the beginning of 2026, 13 immigrants have died in ICE custody, with Perez-Jimenez being the youngest to have passed since President Trump’s term, according to The AP.

ICE shared that an officer found Perez-Jimenez “unconscious and unresponsive” at 2:34 a.m. on Mar. 16 at Glades Detention Center in Moore Haven. The Trump administration reopened the facility after former President Joe Biden’s administration shut it down.

According to the agency, the officers who found Perez-Jimenez “immediately” called a medical emergency in the dormitory, and staff began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

A few minutes later, two medical personnel arrived and determined that Perez-Jimenez did not have a pulse before the fire rescue deputies' arrival, who "initiated life-sustaining interventions."

ICE revealed that Perez-Jimenez was pronounced dead at 2:51 a.m., 17 minutes after he was found dead.

The Mexican government issued a statement deeming that such immigration detention deaths are “unacceptable,” additionally demanding a prompt and thorough U.S. investigation to prevent another death from occurring.

Officials from the Mexican Consulate in Miami also visited the facility where Perez-Jimenez was held, located about 55 miles northeast of Fort Myers, requesting documentation about the incident.

A new "informal" straw poll conducted by the Republican Liberty Caucus in Northeast Florida shows that former Speaker Paul Renner leads the lead of 2026 Republican gubernatorial candidates by a significant margin.

According to the group, the 105 surveyed in a two day span were members of the "local Republican Liberty Caucus & Republican Party."

Speaker Renner received 57.1 percent of the vote with Rep. Byron Donalds receiving 27.6 percent of the vote. Lt. Governor Jay Collins came in third with 8.6 percent support.

In response to the poll, Renner took a jab at Rep. Donalds, saying that when voters "compare" his record in the state legislature to Rep. Donalds' overall record, "there's no comparison."

“Voters want a governor with proven leadership—someone grounded in experience, not hype or smoke and mirrors—who will deliver real results that solve their challenges. When they compare my record and results to Congressman Donalds, there’s no comparison. The results in Duval County will continue to play out across the state as voters take a closer look at the candidates in this two-person race,” said Renner.

During a Senate GOP press conference, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) did not hold back in rebuking Democrats' opposition to the SAVE America Act, saying they are the only group of people in America that are opposed to it.

"I have been up here for seven years. This is probably the most bipartisan thing I have ever seen," Sen. Scott said. "If you go around the country, I do not care if you are a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent, you want this."

However, despite noting that the bill is "bipartisan," Scott expressed that the only ones opposed to it are "the Democrats in the Senate and the Democrats in the House."

According to the Florida senator, Democrats oppose the bill because "they want fraud. They want to allow illegal aliens to vote. That is the only answer."

Scott pointed out that Americans show identification all the time for mundane reasons, such as verifying credit cards, boarding an airplane, or buying a lottery ticket in Florida. Thus, "it is not like it is the end of the world to show it."

He rebuked Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who called the bill "Jim Crow 2.0" and noted that the Democratic Party has historically supported those laws. Scott clarified that "there is nothing racist about this. Everybody I know has ID."

Democrats have vehemently opposed the SAVE America Act by arguing that it prevents married women from voting.

Scott responded to the claim by commenting, "I am married to a married woman. I have two daughters that are married, and I think that they can figure out how to get whatever ID they want, how to vote, all of those things. They do not need anybody telling them what to do, they can figure this out."

"So any Democrat that says that any women cannot figure this out, they are stupid."

Scott concluded his remarks by highlighting three ways that the bill can pass the Senate.

"The best way is for Democrats to come to their senses and say, 'you are right. We have got to get this done,'" he expressed.

The second is to add it to the "must-pass bill," and the third is via the talking filibuster.

"This is important. Trump secured our border. He needs us to secure our elections. The American public wants us to secure our elections," he urged.

Governor Ron DeSantis

While speaking at a news conference in Bradenton, Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed back on Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd and other sheriffs on the State Immigration Enforcement Council for recently suggesting that immigrants who are not criminals should be allowed to stay in the United States under certain requirements.

"I stand with following Florida's policies. You can't have a situation where Biden can bring in 10 million people, and then we're not allowed to remove them back to their home county," DeSantis said. "This idea that unless you're an axe murderer you should be able to say, that is not consistent with our laws, and it's also not good policy."

Judd, a Republican and a supporter of President Donald Trump, advocated for a path forward for illegal immigrants who haven't committed crimes, calling on authorities to instead focus on criminal illegal immigrants, during the Council's meeting earlier this week. He also hinted at sending a letter to President Trump and other high-profile Republicans for a more targeted approach to immigration enforcement, although no letter has been made public.

Judd later clarified his comments during a news conference.

"Make no mistake about it, any illusion that we're not supporting the president or the government is absolutely false," Judd said. However, Judd didn't exactly step back from his stance.

"If Congress would do their job and deal with this group, then it frees us up to focus on those that are committing crime, those that are dangerous, those that are violent," Judd added.

Gov. DeSantis signed a sweeping package of anti-illegal immigration measures into law last year and has led on the state's cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), including reimbursement checks for personnel to use in their duties.

Notably, Gov. DeSantis created the State Immigration Council, which is comprised of four sheriffs and four police chiefs, including Judd, who is the Chair of the Council. The members were also appointed by state GOP leaders.

Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters was not present during the Council's meeting and later indicated he did not agree with his colleagues on a shift in policy.

"We have different people that our victimized by illegal aliens every day in this country. Not all of them have criminal records at the time; in fact, probably most of them don't. But under some view, it's like okay, you come illegally, but then you stay until you commit a really violent crime," DeSantis continued. "That just doesn't work, it's incoherent and it's not what the President ran on."

Gov. Ron DeSantis expressed confidence in the federal government's ability to protect the state's military facilities that may come under threat during the conflict with Iran while speaking at a news conference in Bradenton this week.

"We always have concern just because our military bases are always a target, just a fact," DeSantis said, noting President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach is also the subject of constant threats, including a breach in February.

Florida's military bases include MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, NAS (Naval Air Station) in Pensacola, and Tyndall Air Force Base in Panama City. DeSantis emphasized that Florida would yield on the federal government's intelligence over possible threats from the regime.

“Our guys will help at the state level when they’re requested. But I would say, when you're talking about a drone possibility or something like that, the feds are gonna have the intelligence and the information on that," DeSantis said. "They are going to be the ones that are driving the interdiction and the response to that, more so than our state agencies. That’s just the way it’s always been with terrorism, particularly since 9/11."

"We are willing to help. We are willing to do if there's things we can do to help facilitate any mission, we will do it," DeSantis continued.

The Florida governor also mentioned threats from Iran are nothing new, which have included chants of "Death to America" from members of the Iranian parliament. Iranian military forces have also conducted drone strikes on U.S. military targets for years, including major escalations since the death of Major General Qassem Soleimani by U.S. forces in 2020.

"The reality is, Iran itself has had people come to the United States in the past, and they've obviously done a lot of fomenting terrorism in the Middle East, and that's going to continue. That's just who they are, that's what they believe in," DeSantis said.
