The A319 offers three classes of service: First Class, 24 Main Cabin Extra, and Main Cabin seats, providing travelers with more comfort and options. This upgrade significantly increases daily seat availability compared to the CRJ700.
“Summer is just around the corner and travelers have told us they want more options to visit Flagstaff,” said Jordan Pack, American’s Director of Domestic Network Planning. “By introducing additional capacity between Flagstaff and our largest hub, we’re enabling greater access from destinations across the country – ranging from Miami to Washington, D.C., to New York and more.”
Airport Director Brian Gall added, “The increase in seats for this route shows the ongoing growth of the northern Arizona market and the strength of our partnership with American Airlines. We’re very excited that FLG will have scheduled service on a mainline aircraft for
the first time ever. The Flagstaff community has demonstrated the need for this additional capacity by consistently filling the available seats on our flights. We encourage the community to continue to fly FLG and help demonstrate the need for even more service.”
The A319 will operate on the DFW route from May 21 through October 31, aligning with peak travel demand. To book your flight, visit aa.com or American’s mobile app.

With complete access to utilities, fiber connectivity, and a prime location along Interstate 17, the park is an ideal setting for businesses to grow and thrive.
The development seeks to support the expanding needs of the local economy by creating high-quality jobs and strengthening airport support services—all while respecting and preserving the region’s natural beauty and community values.
As part of Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, the Northern Arizona Technology Park boasts direct access to I-17, I-40, and 89A. Under the terms of Federal Aviation Administration policies, the ground lease and development agreement approved by the Flagstaff City Council prohibits residential use. The project will introduce amenities that benefit both travelers and the local community, starting with Phase I, the construction of a hotel, restaurant, and the initial office and research buildings. The focus of the park’s facilities is to expand Flagstaff’s science and technology industries, dedicating the development to research, manufacturing, logistics, and similar industries.
Genterra Enterprises President and CEO Tim Kinney highlighted the project’s significance, stating, “We’re thrilled to partner with the City of Flagstaff to develop one of Northern Arizona’s premier sites for the technology and science industries. Designed as a professional park-like setting, the Northern Arizona Technology Park will showcase Flagstaff’s natural beauty with stunning views of the San Francisco Peaks. The development will feature sustainable, thoughtfully designed buildings, ample greenspace, and direct access to the Flagstaff Urban Trail System and Fort Tuthill Park—both within walking distance. Plus, with immediate access to Flagstaff Pulliam Airport, Interstate 17, and Interstate 40, this location offers unbeatable connectivity.”
Per the agreement, Genterra will develop public infrastructure and must complete a development plan within 30 months of the March 2024 approval. The project is set to unfold in phases over the next 25 years.

]]>These additional flights signal a positive shift for our community, reflecting progress in addressing the regional airline pilot shortage. The shortage grounded many planes due to a lack of qualified pilots and led to a significant reduction in regional airline flights starting in 2022. Factors contributing to this shortage included the retirement of experienced pilots and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused a sharp decline in air travel and led to widespread layoffs across the industry.
According to Travel Weekly, SkyWest, the largest U.S. regional carrier, was still 1,000 pilots short of its pre-pandemic numbers as of early 2024. American Airlines, the only airline currently serving FLG, had 77 of its American Eagle regional jets in storage at the end of 2023, while United Airlines had 103 regional jets grounded. American, with the largest U.S. regional network, is working diligently to restore its full fleet by 2026. However, efforts to address the shortage are ongoing, and the increase in flights at FLG is a hopeful sign of recovery.
FLG felt the impact of the pilot shortage in October 2022 when United Airlines discontinued its popular Denver (DEN) route, despite an impressive 86% seat occupancy rate. However, airport staff remain optimistic about resuming service to Denver in the future. Ongoing discussions with airlines highlight the importance of our region and the growing demand for additional air service.
Flagstaff welcomes 5.5 million visitors annually, yet 78% of them fly through Phoenix Sky Harbor instead of FLG. This statistic highlights the untapped potential of our local airport. The more we utilize FLG, the more likely we are to attract new routes and services. To make this happen, we need your support. The best way to secure more flights and destinations is to fill the seats we currently have. By choosing to fly out of Flagstaff, you’re not only enjoying a more convenient travel experience but also helping to expand the options available at your local airport. The scenario will include a simulated aircraft incident, with emergency response activities such as rescue operations, triage treatment, and the transport of injured persons. This exercise provides an opportunity for airport personnel, first responders, and partner agencies to evaluate and focus on critical components of emergency preparedness and response.
Community members interested in volunteering to participate can register online. Pre-registration is required. For questions about volunteering, please email [email protected].

]]>“The addition of the LAX route offers more choices for travelers in northern Arizona,” said Airport Director Brian Gall. “This new route provides hundreds of one-stop destinations, making travel even more convenient for the Flagstaff region.”
Flagstaff Pulliam Airport is actively working to attract a second air carrier and expand air service. Increased traveler use of FLG makes it easier for airlines to add more flights to various destinations. The best way to secure new services is by filling the seats currently available.
“With the addition of the Economy Parking lot, which has doubled our parking capacity, we are prepared to welcome more air service,” said Heidi Hansen, Economic Vitality Director. “With over 5.5 million visitors per year, we are excited to meet the demand and continue to grow the airport.”
The seasonal service to LAX is scheduled to run through March 2025. Flights are now available for booking on aa.com.
American Airlines also provides daily nonstop flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).

Improvements extend beyond the terminal itself. The Terminal Parking Lot is closed for maintenance, including curb and sidewalk repairs, asphalt crack sealing, seal coating, and restriping. Meanwhile, the Economy Parking Lot is available, offering ample parking. The first hour of parking is free, followed by a charge of $2 per hour, up to a daily rate of $6 and a weekly rate of $36. Temporary accessible parking has been established near the terminal at no cost. Signage is posted to help travelers navigate to the appropriate parking areas. The Terminal Parking Lot will reopen mid-June.
“As we near the completion of several terminal improvement projects and maintenance in the Terminal Parking Lot, we are excited to deliver a better experience for travelers. Visible improvements, including updated paint, wayfinding signage, lighting, and doors, reflect our commitment to enhancing the airport. This essential upkeep is funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which is set to expire this year,” said Brian Gall, Director of Flagstaff Pulliam Airport. “We thank all travelers for their cooperation during this work.”
Additionally, the monument sign at the airport entrance has been restored. Other improvements, less visible to the public, include the recent sealcoating and restriping of the runway and repairs to fencing for wildlife mitigation on the airfield. Looking ahead, new food and beverage options and a small-scale Visitor’s Center will open in the café space later this summer.
