FxSound does not see BT Headphones after fresh Windows Install To add a little more to your point, here’s my two cents on audio device not picking up, and if one decides they wanna try fixing it through Device Manager— or what I personally call as the DL renewal fix lol. Reason is bc OP seemed to be able to connect the headphones through bluetooth, just no sound.

Summary (click for more details)

My typical go to method is spoiler

Lastly, do you ever plug/ connect[4] your headphones to the Z32D monitor? if not you can simple “disallow” it since in the photo notice it says “default communication device”? My best guess is that one naughty monitor is stealing the audio. Sooo less is more babes, so for example if you don’t use AUX jack–> no need "realtek processing , disable it maybe so to keep everything simpler[5]

in my case, my PC has a sound card and reasonably its driver is used for everything, and aw2415h monitor is just there to eat shits for free. why i think so? cuz my monitor ain’t got a built-in speaker lol! sooo soundcard where she ain’t in there, but NVIDIA still give it an audio driver to fight with the main one. ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯ Ofc i’m not babe-ing fxsound cuz it def crashes on me too[6], but chances are it’s just needed some clicks to work just how you do your headphones typically. I can poorly explained that fxsound is your headphones’ headphones.

  1. audio output and input device ↩︎

  2. and if someone been thinking if there is a better audio driver, I went down the same rabbit hole and my conclusion is: nawr, a generic good old microsoft audio driver is all you want for Christmas ↩︎

  3. if fxsound doesnt do this automatically ↩︎

  4. for virtual 3d gaming ↩︎

  5. it doesn’t do anything to bluetooth audio ↩︎

  6. I fucked around and found out ↩︎

The thing I love: Hail Fxsound💋🙌, got some tea and some thought for UX oh work! Thank you, lmk if you need another pair of eyes to observe any glitch, I do like messing around till I find out more often than I should LOL.

Also this is just my totally uncooked uneducated guess, it seems like Fxsound watches the name change closely to “Audio Input and Output device” friendly name while I was being a living chaos as usual and I gotta fuck around the registry to see the changes lol… Anyway, I realized “Audio Input and Output” (i’d call it AIO for short) has a harder time to adapt a new name change because while I could see the “sound, video, and game controllers” (SVG) pick up the new name real fast and maintain that name consistenly. “AIO” will take much longer to pick on [1] and AIO name will still be reset if bluetooth switched off or “remove device”. [2]
Sooo I was just thinking what-if [3] Fxsound instead “watch out” for the SVG’s[4] friendly name instead since it seems consistent in my pov and also will get rid of the long device name “ABC (manufacture’s set name)” [5]༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

Anyway, hopefully it makes sense and be at any help to you, but also sorry if that just create another case of “XY problems”

  1. could be a few refreshes to actually hours, here’s the link to the method I used to mess with the name change imgur ↩︎

  2. as far as all possibilities I could tested out, the only way to make it persistent from resetting when you switch bluetooth off/on is changing the AIO’s friendly name in the registry, I could also cut short the name in registry so it doesn’t look ridiculously long (noted: removing/forgetting devices will still reset the device’s saved names) ↩︎

  3. non-educated either very cooking or very cooked idea ↩︎

  4. sound,video, and game controllers ↩︎

  5. for example “FXsound speakers (Fxsound audio enhancer)” ↩︎

FxSound breaks with RDP (remote desktop), resets output device I like FxSound very much but use RDP frequently. An FxSound message appears each time I connect saying it isn’t working, then when I return to my computer physically I don’t hear anything. FxSound has reset the output device and I must select it again. Obviously some event triggers the FxSound message and it should be easy to see why the selected output device no longer exists, such as because of an RDP session, and maybe suspend FxSound functionality. At that point you might test each 60 seconds to see if the output device is present again indicating the RDP session has ended.

FxSound does not see BT Headphones after fresh Windows Install Step 1 - Does Windows have a BT port? Open Device Manager. BLUETOOTH and NETWORK ADAPTERS should list a BT adapter. BT chips are often but not always attached to the wi-fi or network adapter. Network functions (circuits) are separate from BT functions. The network can work fine with BT in a failed state. Problems present as “splats”.

If splats are found, update driver.

Windows Update (esp version updates) can “hide” driver updates. Check SETTINGS, ADVANCED OPTIONS, OPTIONAL UPDATES.

In Device Manager, is BT in good order?

Removing the bluetooth device from the preference list after removing the device from OS control panel is a bit complex. I am working on the fix for this.

FxSound does not see BT Headphones after fresh Windows Install So, when I power up the computer, log in and let everything start up (like FxSound), then I power on my BT headphones, I have no audio. The FxSound Speakers are the default but in the apps “Playback Device Select” there is nothing. This didn’t happen prior to the fresh install.

Again, it’s not the end of the world but it is puzzling.

FxSound does not see BT Headphones after fresh Windows Install A few days ago, I did a fresh install of Windows 11 (25H2) and since doing so, there is a repeatable bug with Windows and the latest FxSound (1.2.6.0). Once I log in, and FxSound starts, when I turn on my BT headphones I have no sound and nothing shows up in the FxSound control panel’s drop down. I don’t have speakers, just the headphones.

I then have to exit FxSound, restart it before my headphones (and sound) show up. Prior to the fresh install, I never had this problem. Same hardware, same OS, same version of FxSound.

It’s not critical but it is slightly annoying. Has anyone else run across this?

V 1.2.7 report back some observations Hi @bvijay sorry in advance for the shower of questions, I have done some further reading and now I can’t sleep with more questions lol… If I understand the concept correctly, the reason Fxsound prefers the exclusive mode to be off is to achieve bypassing any internal APO, which it sounds similar to microsoft’s WASAPI or ASIO when these guy take over in Exclusive mode right?

Then I’m stucking my head around:

  1. Does that mean it prefer both my headphone device and fxsound audio enhancer to opt out of exclusive mode in order to bypass the systems APOs altogether?
  2. If so, I’m just kind confusing myself here because for WASAPI it needs exclusive mode on, but for fxsound if it’s off, then will it still be able to bypass the APOs altogether?
Last point #3... (click for more details) ]]>

Notworking Hi bvijay. Thank you for your reply. I will try that. I did try a setting in Youtube Music to increase volume but without FXsound it didn’t change anything for me. I’m using the motherboard audio along with Bluetooth and none of my testing has produced the level that I’m looking for. I also tried Microsoft Updates to see if anything was hiding on their servers but came up empty handed. It’s not a major issue but one that’s been nagging me for an answer for a while.

I’ll definitely post whenever my issue changes.

FxSound does not detect Bluetooth headset after reconnect unless re-paired
vish:

audio boosting in not coming properly only means if speaker of laptop is low we should hear all call any low audio into accurate high audio and clearpitch

Turn up the volume of your headphone and in the call app.
If you’re venting about Handsfree telephony effect (will fuck the volume 50% ish), oh babe you’re at the wrong tree… try Microsoft or your gear’s manufacturer instead, though you can play around with Fxsound effects to make a preset for calling, they do wonder.

FxSound does not detect Bluetooth headset after reconnect unless re-paired Take my opinion with a grant of salt, but you’re overthinking it hon, believe it or not I have a bunch of problematic pair of headphones and earbuds here and though sometimes I do run into the same not-so-significant issue you’re enduring, it takes me 2 seconds to form a better practice to make things run smoothly most of the time: If I was in your shoes, I’d turn off fxsound first before disconnecting (just in the app UI, 1 click on the power button 2 seconds at most no need to exit), and just re-pair your bluetooth device as usual, another 2 seconds to switch fxsounds on, bam:exploding_head: it will be there — zero, nie, nada prob to the lem). I think you could try to focus on how to operate the tools efficiently moving on, it’s chiller that way yeah? :clinking_beer_mugs:

Weirdness - Need to install FXsound Every Day No problem! I’m honestly not the technical all-knowing, my approach is usually focusing on simplicity like “the remote didn’t work? try tapping it or flipping the batteries and see”, and sometimes all they need is just a little tap lol. I hope the issue work out for ya cuz I am not quite grasping what your situation really is[1].

If you’re interested in knowing what’d I do differently in your shoes, I’d take it from the top before down to the root because I think reinstalling your system platform is a bit overkill. I would say it’s safe to mess with the front end first, media player isn’t doing the sound effects? I’d check the media first to make sure something like youtube’s ambient or stable sound mode isn’t on, then if not i’d try another player, then test another browser, check firefox (my browser) new updates and bugs (trust me the big front end applications you’re using usually packing a lot more bugs because they’re ever-growing for new stuffs). Hope that makes sense, but Fxsounds plays a lower role in your system (low actually means higher rank though!) and messing with the machine’s back end with little clue will probably get you a new PC :joy:

Sorry for the long reply, hope that makes sense, you can see my pov a bit differently as: If a tree seems sick, I’d try to find and trim the dead branch first before I’ll rip it off the ground and plant it in different soil where I think or I hear that it’s good. I betcha the tree can only last a few times if it keeps being pulled off.

  1. (for example I can’t read any font smaller than size 13 but that isn’t someone’s issue at all, so I’m just giving you my two cents that you could try elaborating any issues a bit more specific since “weird” and “unusual” can only say you’re having an issue, but that isn’t gonna be the same from our own perspective) ↩︎

Broken link @ /donation-completed Hey guys,
Thanks for the software - it’s great :)

While showing some gratitude, I ran into a broken link to this forum on your Donation Completed page. It links to www forum fxsound com, which doesn’t exist.

Probably stating the obvious, but here you go:
You could change the link on the page, but for many reasons it would be better to redirect from www forum fxsound com to forum fxsound com (which is commonly called a WWW to Non-WWW Redirect or a Naked Domain Redirect)

Technically, this is best implemented as a 301 Redirect (Permanent Redirect), which tells search engines to transfer the SEO value from the www version to the “naked” or “root” domain.

Thanks again for your effort and time, it’s much appreciated :heart_hands:

Weirdness - Need to install FXsound Every Day Hi Coreywillei.

Thank you for your reply. You had some excellent troubleshooting information. I have already done all that you suggested and I still have the annoying issue. It’s not a major problem and I’ll keep reinstalling as needed but to me, it’s a weird issue and I’m not pointing blame at FXsound because I don’t believe it’s their app. Possibly my unique system parameters. It could even be related to the latest Microsoft Update. I recently left the Windows Beta program and am restored to the latest 25H2 level but there could be some “leftovers” of the beta insiders version still inside.

I love a challenge! When I’ve tweaked it enough and still have the issue I’ll just wipe my system and reinstall Windows 11 again. That’s not a problem doing that.

I’m running your app version 1.2.6.0

And Windows 11 Home with all the latest updates for security & features.

V 1.2.7 report back some observations Thank you for the wisdom! I was typing til read twice and I got what you meant lmao.

does this ever reduce the work for fxsound where source audio comes with lower bitrate which aligns perfectly to what the output device prefer(ish?) to support, thus resulting in a less “heavy traffic”/ lower latency stream through bluetooth? (not perceivable is my vote, but i still ask lol and I do be sorry if that doesn’t make much sense)

Enjoy your fxsound EQ but don't know where to apply the effects different app? Here some ideas you can play with Truer words: you don’t always have to like one app wonder, more options more fun, yeah? This isn’t going to be pitch perfect conversion, but it’s fun to try anyway and maybe you’ll find better settings who knows (or very much shittier :D). Hopefully will give you some starting ideas, this probably for whoever needs help with their mobile app EQ or with other OS where FXsound isn’t available, or just wanna tryout different app and vice versa. Oooor someone like me who’s life mantra has been “go f***ing around and find out” even though I’m all set with all my devices cross platforms.

The effects aren’t exactly unrelated to the EQ bands themselves, that means you have your own preset EQ-frequencies settings as base to start with, then you can adjust some more on specific band to somewhat achieve the effects setting in your preset. I’m using fxsound Default preset as reference to give you an idea which bands pair with each effect (messy girl), so do compare the frequencies in your own preset just fyi, 2.6 kHz isn’t same as 3.2kHz etc.

I’m assuming you have all the Normalization, master gain, filter Q, balance as default (babes if you change them then the other app has to support those settings cuz my last name isn’t audiopedia :'<). And don’t worry I’ve been playing around with my own personal ears and one of the voices claims to be my uncle who works at Apple, thus maybe I’m just right and you should totally let my voice guide you. (⌐■_■)

Clarity

This is around band 7-10 (4 bands btw), fxsound is nice they put a little definition for each band when you hover your mouse on it, so you can read them yourself too. Vocal clarity will bring the voice out front with raspy, crispy, clicky, classy divas mode, but ya might wanna chill out with these if ya gonna be listening to Miley Cirus or Adelle lol, yes my mothers are raspy af. (@fxsound could we have some change regarding the UI text being kinda small and hard too read? :'/)

Ambience

This is probably related to bands 4-5-6 and 9, these brings the voice back in, these warm “down” diva cigarette vocal, it gets mushed in and muffled if too much, also more band 6 = more nasal. but, buuuut it brings out the effect of theatrical, echoy to the voice like how you belting your soul in the bathroom. different kind of diva mode, just it sounds “farther away” as somewhat opposite to what Clarity do.

Surround

Idk, this is some rabbit hole down to 3D binaural audio. It feels kinda the same to mono and stereo where mono will sound at the middle of your head and stereo is panning audio to both sides, so surround will be something higher level, binaural means equal audio no matter where you turn your head to, so anything immersive, multichannel, fancy bougie words to describe this similar effect— very lovely for a chill horror movie sesh.
Anyway, I’m out of magic since this depends on the software or the audio/media file recorded. I’m confident this is the case of “if he wants to he would”, some recording can totally render the “surround” feeling with zero, nada, nie other app or subscription and any headphones should be able to. So imma say if your diva want you to hear surround they will, dolby is scamming~. No trust no problemo senorita, try out the binaural test in the link no need for any app or hi-fi headphones, also remember to do this at 3 a.m. for fuller experience :squinting_face_with_tongue: The Ultimate Headphones Test by Dr. Ir. Dynamic boost

Can’t nail down which are most effected bands, but I can feel it is around bass to lower or somewhat mid-mid range. so band 2-3ish? to 5 or even 6 ish? soo, let the other voices guide you on this one gl!
For safe play is to divide the dB by the number of bands you wanna apply to give each an average gain, so it “dynamically” boost the volume?!?!

Bass boost

Summary (click for more details)

Well anyway, that’s it hope you cook up something, but uhmm one last thing, if you need to adjust something more than 5+dB or your EQ goes ziczac roller coaster, oh baby you might’ve REAAALLY cooked something up there…

Notworking Hi @ming

Which version of Windows are you using?

In Windows 11, you can set application volume in the volume mixer in System > Sound

V 1.2.7 report back some observations The issues in device listing in the preference list is the application bug. The application uses device id as the index when storing the list. But the device id is volatile and changes for the same device. I am working on the fix for this.

FxSound Audio Enhancer device which is used by FxSound for processing audio supports 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz. But the application processing is done on 48 kHz. So, when the application starts processing it resets the format to 48 kHz even if user had set it to 44.1 kHz.

The target audio output device can be 16 bit, 24 bit or 32 bit, 16 kHz to 192 kHz. The purpose of FxSound is to enhance the audio stream and apply processing like quantization and dithering. So, if your momentum headphones support 16 bit, you will not perceive any loss in audio quality from 24 bit to 16 bit due to the processing done by FxSound DSP.

Weirdness - Need to install FXsound Every Day not sure what issue you are experiencing here, but go ahead and download the latest version from GitHub - fxsound2/fxsound-app: FxSound application and DSP source code · GitHub (download the “Installer”) since the main website appears to be under reconstruction of some kind.

Easy setup is to tick the box “automatic update” in fxsounds setting, regarding your preset it shouldn’t “disappear” on its own but export your own preference and put it in a safe folder as a backup later, simply import it when something happened. (you can make another copy and save it in some cloud as well like dropbox, google drive if you want extra caution)

lastly, sometimes thing will work when you turn it off and on. Try exit fxsound, maybe re-pairing the headphones, maybe restart your computer, or even reset the app* or you can even run the fxsound installer again as well* (*it will reset all presets) but you’re fine presets aren’t meant forever, tastes change

Impotring Presets

I am getting these values set after importing and applying your preset. Please confirm if they are correct?

Do you see General preset getting applied after restarting the application?

The thing I love: Hail Fxsound💋🙌, got some tea and some thought for UX Thank you for your ideas and inputs.

I have found the reason for the multiple entries of the same device in the profile. I used the device id which is unique to store the profiles, but the device id is volatile and changes on system reset. This could be the reason for the same device getting added in the profile list. I will get this fixed.

The automatic preset per device is a long pending request from multiple users. Now that it is implemented, it may make several people unhappy if any major change is done in the way preset is set for the device.

I will see how best I can improve the user interface for device profiles.

Sliders don't move at all Thanks for your appreciation to FxSound. Glad to hear that you like it.

The only scenario where sliders can be disabled is when FxSound processing is turned off. Are you able to move the Equalizer sliders? Can you please let us know of the scenario which led to this issue.

Linux Version There has been multiple requests on Linux support. Based on the priority of other Windows issues and feature requests, we can consider extending support on Linux. We need to start with removing any Windows specific code in our DSP and make it cross platform. We will keep the forum posted on the developments.
