Anthias v0.20.4 with URL asset, screen blank, reset and loop Hi, this is my problem with Anthias v0.20.4:

I purchased 25 new Raspberr Pi4 B+ 8Gb. and after 30 minutes of viewing a web page (a list of speeches for an event like this: LiveC - Display ), the screen goes blank for a second, then loops and returns to the initial Anthias screen with logo and IP address. This defect occurs in both horizontal and vertical layouts. It seems like the anomaly that occurs when I view a video in vertical mode, in which the screen first goes blank and then displays the Anthias initial screen with IP, as I specified in the POST that is still open. For now, I’ve solved it by placing two identical assets that change after 20 minutes. But it’s not normal.

Access Point specific Create an isolated network from your main company network, just make sure the VLAN’s are not able to connect to each other. Then you can control what the PI’s can connect to.

Anthias Calendar showing events 2 weeks in advance @king, yes, it would be better to check if the Pi’s clock is off or in sync. You could do so by running timedatectl:

Local time: Mon 2026-03-09 15:54:15 UTC
Universal time: Mon 2026-03-09 15:54:15 UTC
                 RTC time: Mon 2026-03-09 15:54:15
                Time zone: n/a (UTC, +0000)
System clock synchronized: yes

Anthias Calendar showing events 2 weeks in advance Sounds like Anthias might be mis‑reading the calendar data or your Pi’s internal time/refresh is off — double‑check that the Raspberry Pi model is supported, the Anthias version is up to date, and that the calendar event times & timezone match what Google Calendar shows. Asking those details helps pinpoint whether it’s a sync issue or a bug.geekprank.online

One option for installing Anthias is to use the images from balenaHub.

In your case, you can go in this page, click Join, then select the Wifi + Ethernet option if you’re configuring Wi-Fi. When you’re ready, you can click the dropdown beside the button on the bottom-left corner of the Add new device dialog and click Download balenaOS.

Onedrive xls file disable toolbar/enable full screen While it’s not possible to have the toolbar be hidden, another option is to embed it as an HTML code.

You can do File > Share > Embed this workbook.

If you’re open to alternatives, you could try Google Sheets, where it’s possible to share spreadsheets without showing the toolbar. You just need to go to File > Share > Publish to web. You will be prompted to configure whether to publish the entire workbook or just a specific sheet. Once ready, click the Submit button.

Trouble installing Anthias and rotating screen (tried multiple methods) It is something that Anthias doesn’t support out-of-the-box at the moment.

Videos are played via ffplay or vlc and image and web assets are played via a webview written in Qt/C++. I’ll take a closer look of this one when I get the chance.

I did figure out that I was trying to run the script on the latest Raspberry Pi OS Lite (Trixie). I ran the script on Bookworm and it is running now. However, I’m still unable to rotate Anthias 90 degrees clockwise, even though I edited /boot/firmware/cmdline.txt before running the Anthias install script and successfully rotated the CLI 90 degrees.

Trouble installing Anthias and rotating screen (tried multiple methods) Hi @astropancakes,

Thank you for creating this topic.

If you want to install Anthias where doing SSH is supported, I recommend installing from the installer script. The Raspberry Pi Imager is still pinned to an older version of Anthias.

What version of Raspberry Pi OS Lite does your Rasberry Pi device run? Anthias doesn’t support the latest stable version of RPi OS at the moment. In the meantime, please try installing Anthias on top of Bookworm (the older version).

Trouble installing Anthias and rotating screen (tried multiple methods) Hi there, I’m trying to get Anthias installed on my Raspberry Pi 3B+ and get the screen rotated 90 degrees clockwise. I’ve tried multiple methods of doing both of these tasks but have only been able to do one or the other.

When I install Anthias using the Raspberry Pi Imager, Anthias loads just fine, but I am unable to open the CLI using CTRL+ALT+F1. CTRL+ALT+F2 takes me to a black screen, but I don’t know if that’s helpful or not. I have also put a blank “ssh” file (with no extension) in the root of the Micro SD card, but when I attempt to SSH into the Pi using Putty, I get the error that the connection has been refused.

Alternatively, I have also tried the method of installing Raspberry Pi OS Lite, then running the Anthias install script. Using this method, I am able to install RPI OS Lite, and edit the system file that rotates the screen, but when I run the Anthias install script, it fails at the step where it’s trying to “Add Docker apt key”. Following the advice of a forum post, I made sure to update the Pi using something like “sudo apt-get update” then run the Anthias install script again, but it fails at the same step: “Add Docker apt key”.

Any advice on what I might be doing wrong, or what else I should try? Thanks in advance!

Poor and pixelated 1920x1080 images Hi @nicomiguelino,
I just loaded a pair of Raspberry Pi 3 b+ with the latest version of Anthias, and when I load 1920x1080 images into the assets, they look fine on the PC, but on the Raspberry they look poor quality and pixelated. The problem is visible on both another 24" HDMI monitor and a 49" HDMI smart TV. I remembered that in boot\firmware\config.txt you could force the HDMI to a resolution of 1920x1080 px. Is there anything I can do?

Best regards.

Thank you for your feedback.
To answer your question, I didn’t encounter any problems when importing .mp4 files.

I still get an error even after deleting the assets. The screen remains frozen on the Anthias logo, even when I click on the “Next Asset” button on the web page.

Here are the actions I took following your previous response:

Logged into the web interface

Downloaded all assets

Deleted all assets

Connected to the Raspberry Pi via SSH

Deleted all ghost assets in the screenly_assets folder

Restarted the device using the reboot button on the web interface

Imported all assets

Activated all assets

Screen transitions between assets Hello,

I also use a Raspberry Pi 3 B+

I had the exact same problem : “I also had an issue where, between images, it would flash to black or draw half of the next image with half black before the next image fully displayed.”

This problem occurred when using the Anthias image available in “Raspberry Pi Imager”.

I installed another Anthias image via Balena OS, and now there are no more problems.

Here is the download link:

(Click on “join” in the top right corner of your screen to download the image)

Please note, I haven’t yet tested it with video or GIFs, but there are no more problems with 1920x1020 images, unlike before.

Hope this helps.

I’m curious to know if using the BALENA OS image also resolves the issue for you.

Regards,

Olier

Active assets issue Hi @adoireau,

Thanks for reporting this issue. What you’re seeing is unfortunately a known bug in how Anthias handles file cleanup when assets are deleted.

Is this normal?

No, this shouldn’t happen. When you delete an asset through the web interface, all associated files should be removed from the screenly_assets folder. The fact that you still have 3 files when you should only have 1 indicates that some orphaned files were left behind.

Why does this happen?

The asset deletion process only removes the main file for each asset. It doesn’t clean up temporary files that may have been created during:

  • Incomplete or failed uploads
  • Background processing of video files (which is most likely in your case since all files are .mp4)
  • Interrupted file transfers

So the 3 files you’re seeing are likely:

  • 1 file for your working asset
  • 2 leftover files from previous operations

Quick question:

I noticed from your screenshots that all the files are .mp4 video files. Have you tried adding video assets multiple times and encountered issues (like uploads failing or assets not showing up properly)? This would help explain why there are extra files left behind.

What can you do?

The filenames inside screenly_assets/ are based on asset IDs. You can cross-reference these with the asset IDs shown in your Anthias web interface. You can click on the pen icon next to each asset. A modal titled “Edit Asset” will pop up. You’ll see the path to the asset next to the Asset Location label.

Any files that don’t match a current asset ID can be safely deleted.

Moving forward

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We’ve identified the underlying cause and documented it ( [BUG] Orphaned files remain in screenly_assets folder after asset deletion · Issue #2657 · Screenly/Anthias · GitHub ). This issue will be addressed in a future update, though we can’t provide a specific timeline at this moment.

If anyone in the community would like to contribute a fix, we welcome pull requests on our GitHub repository.

Thanks again for raising this issue and helping us improve Anthias!

Edit Local Storage Hi @Silal,

Thank you for raising this. Currently, there isn’t a built-in way to edit local storage data in the webview. This is something we’ve noted as a potential enhancement.

In the meantime, you might explore whether your web content can accept configuration through URL parameters or custom headers, depending on your use case.

If you’re interested in working on this, we’d welcome a pull request. Otherwise, we’ll keep this in mind as we continue to implement features or fixes.
