Ensuring vaccine quality depends on a cold chain that functions reliably at every level of the health system. In Tunisia, this reliability is shaped not only by the availability of equipment, but also by the capacity of the workforce to install, monitor, and maintain it under varied operational conditions. To address these needs, a five-day national training on the sustainable management and maintenance of vaccine cold chain equipment (ECV – WHO/PQS) was conducted from 19 to 23 January.

The training was jointly organized by the Ministry of Health, UNICEF Tunisia, and GaneshAID to support practical improvements in how cold chain equipment is maintained on the ground, with a focus on building skills that can be applied consistently over time. It created a shared learning space for regional biomedical engineers, technicians, and national partners to exchange experiences and strengthen their ability to respond to real maintenance challenges.

Over the course of five days, participants moved from understanding how maintenance decisions affect vaccine quality to observing real conditions, analysing common issues, and applying solutions in practice. Through site visits, collective reflection, and hands-on exercises, they strengthened their ability to make informed decisions, respond to incidents, and adopt a more preventive approach to maintenance—preparing them to apply these skills in their routine work.

As the training ended, attention shifted to what would happen afterwards. Participants spoke about going back to their workplaces—to the same equipment, routines, and pressures—but with new ways of approaching them. For GaneshAID, the training matters in these moments, where small, consistent actions taken each day quietly ensure that vaccines remain safe for all.

In response, a catch-up workshop on the use of the C2P solution was held on January 14, 2026, in the Cotonou 2–3 health zone. The activity was organised by the Chief Medical Officer of the Cotonou 2–3 health zone and led by GaneshAID. The session brought together key vaccination stakeholders to strengthen coaching practices and the practical use of the C2P solution.

The workshop focused on strengthening the capacities of vaccination coaches by reinforcing their understanding of performance-based coaching and supporting the practical use of the C2P digital solution. It provided a structured space for learning, discussion, and hands-on practice, supporting coaches in their day-to-day work with health teams.

Communal Chief Medical Officers, PEV managers, and vaccination coaches participated in the workshop, helping ensure alignment between coaching practices, local leadership priorities, and the operational realities faced by health facilities across the health zone.

Participants revisited key principles of performance-based coaching and explored how C2P can support coaching follow-up, performance assessment, and continuous improvement. Practical exercises and simulations allowed coaches to become more familiar with the application’s core features, including account setup, user roles, and key workflows.

By the end of the workshop, participants had strengthened both their technical understanding of the C2P solution and their ability to integrate it into routine supervision and performance management processes within the Cotonou 2–3 health zone.

About C2P in Benin:
C2P is a digital platform that reimagines traditional supervision as a dynamic process of mentorship, motivation, and continuous learning. Participants explored how C2P helps transform supervisors into performance coaches who drive meaningful change in service delivery and outcomes.
