About the challenge

The hackathon features an open-ended problem statement, giving teams the freedom to work on ideas of their choice. Projects will be evaluated primarily on the best and most effective use of Gemini AI, with emphasis on meaningful, well-integrated AI solutions rather than surface-level usage.

What to Build

To ensure a fair, inclusive, and productive experience for all participants, the following

rules and regulations have been established for Gemini Hack Day 2026. These guidelines

outline expectations related to project development, AI usage, submissions, conduct, and

evaluation.

All participants are required to read and adhere to these rules throughout the hackathon.

Failure to comply may result in penalties or disqualification at the discretion of the

organizing committee.

By participating in Gemini Hack Day 2026, teams acknowledge and agree to abide by the

rules, the MLH Code of Conduct, and any additional instructions communicated by the

organizers during the event.

What to Submit

• All projects must be built during the official hackathon duration.

• Use of pre-built templates, boilerplates, and open-source libraries is permitted;

however the core logic, AI workflows, and system integrations must be developed

during the event.

• Usage of the Google Gemini API is mandatory and must be a central component

of the solution.

• Projects with minimal, superficial, or token usage of Gemini AI may be penalized

during evaluation.

• All project submissions must be made exclusively on Devpost.

• Each team must submit:

  • A clear project description
  • A demo link or working prototype
  • A source code repository

• Submissions must be completed before the announced deadline.

• Late or incomplete submissions may not be considered for judging.
