For the record, WooCommerce is doing something similar: https://woocommerce.github.io/woocommerce-rest-api-docs/#authentication-over-https. Although they allow passing a token in the query string, not the user's actual password |

I just met an Android Developer who needs the credentials to be sent as query parameter. Maybe this could help other developer in need.
