The coming AI agent economy will be a battle between closed "walled gardens" and an open "web of agents." Our mission is to build the open-source, on-chain foundation that ensures the open web wins.
Prometheus Protocol is the complete economic engine for the decentralized AI economy. It provides a unified solution for the three pillars of a trustworthy open ecosystem:
- Verifiable Trust: A decentralized "app store" and software supply chain that replaces corporate gatekeepers with cryptographic proof and community-driven audits.
- Secure Identity: A universal passport for humans and agents, built on open standards like OAuth 2.1, enabling secure interaction across the entire open web.
- Direct Payments: The native payment rail for the M2M economy, allowing any service to be monetized with low-friction, on-chain micro-transactions.
By combining these layers, Prometheus provides the essential infrastructure for a new generation of decentralized applications and a fair, competitive agentic economy.
Our journey was structured in four ambitious phases, building from a solid foundation towards a vibrant, trusted, and self-sustaining ecosystem. We are proud to announce that all four phases were completed during the World Computer Hacker League.
Goal: Forge the complete, end-to-end stack for secure identity and payments.
- Outcome: A production-ready OAuth 2.1 provider and a full suite of SDKs, enabling any developer to build and monetize secure, on-chain services.
Goal: Build the premier, high-trust software supply chain for provably safe services.
- Outcome: A feature-complete, on-chain App Store and Trust Hub, including a service registry, an audit and bounty marketplace, and a full command-line interface for developers and auditors.
Goal: Build the complete economic and social infrastructure to bootstrap a self-sustaining economy via the Alpha Flywheel Initiative.
- The Supply Engine (Developer Incentives): Launched a public bounty board and grant program, rewarding developers with USDC for building and certifying high-value services.
- The Trust Engine (Auditor Incentives): Deployed a transparent marketplace where vetted auditors stake USDC to claim audit bounties, building their on-chain reputation.
- The Demand Engine (End-User Incentives): Launched a client-agnostic usage mining system, allowing developers to reward end-users with USDC for their activity.
- The Foundation (Documentation & Comms): Launched a comprehensive documentation hub and a new "On-chain AI" tech meetup to support our growing community.
Goal: Evolve the foundational protocol into a professional, scalable, and accessible marketplace ready for widespread adoption.
- Outcome: We successfully laid the groundwork for a professional-grade marketplace by delivering:
- Automated Cycles Management: A robust cycles monitoring and top-up system to ensure the long-term reliability of all services on the platform.
- Advanced Payments SDK: Enhanced the Motoko SDK with programmatic charging capabilities, allowing developers to implement dynamic, usage-based billing.
- Official Registry Integration: Integrated with the official MCP registry, ensuring all services on Prometheus are discoverable across the entire AI agent ecosystem.
- Accelerated Community Growth: Scaled our community engagement through targeted outreach, tech meetups, and a steady stream of high-quality educational content.
With the entire foundational stack built and validated during the hackathon, our focus now shifts to scaling and expanding our ecosystem. Our immediate priorities are:
- Professionalizing the Marketplace: Establishing clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for auditors and developers to create a predictable and streamlined experience.
- Expanding the Economy: Integrating ETH wallet support and 1-click USDC bridging to dramatically lower the barrier for the wider Web3 community to participate.
- Scaling Developer Adoption: Achieving full feature parity for our Rust MCP SDK to unlock the entire Rust developer ecosystem on the Internet Computer.
Prometheus is a fully open-source project. We welcome contributions, feedback, and collaboration from the community.
