I am not able to reproduce your compilation error with gotham version 1.2.4 and biblatex 2025/07/10 v3.21.

However, I do have something unexpected, as shown on the picture.

This behavior is due to the default biblatex \printbilbiography command, which tries to add a section before the bibliogrpahy itself. And the good news is that it can be simply fixed using \printbibliography[heading=none] instead.
