Since you (correctly) closed #45 (closed) as a duplicate of this issue, could you edit the title of this issue to reflect that the problem is broader than just affecting a single contributor's modules? That might help prevent other duplicates.

The problem is that, until we have some way to connect two distributions as logically the same, there's no way to do that. How do we know that Foo::Bar:auth<cpan:BAZ> is in any way connected to Foo::Bar:auth<zef:baz>

This would be a hack that wouldn't scale, but could we have a hard-coded list of confirmed duplicates? That would at least let us keep the "Popular Dists" lists duplicate-free.

A better solution, if you agree that it's reliable: what if we treated any dists with the same name and the same source field in their META6.json? Either they're duplicates, or one of them is lying!

I noticed this as well. The problem seems to stem from the DB query on https://gitlab.com/raku-land/raku-land/-/blob/master/lib/Local/Routes/Index.rakumod
