Hi all,

these are the actions that I propose for this type of funding:

The pilot project proposes to complement the work of the ‘Digital Commons’ EDIC and support the Commission open source strategy with two actions specific to Linux operating systems:

• (a) study common business requirements for Linux operating systems on the server and on the desktop (laptop) across public sector and critical private sector organisations (according to NIS2) in the EEA, determine the dominant Linux distributions in place, and compare the Linux distributions belonging to foundations (including Debian, AlmaLinux, NixOS) with respect to the business requirements and migration path; study then possible business models for SMEs and open source foundations (taking example of Debian, AlmaLinux, and Rocky Linux) that enable on one hand SMEs to compete with larger multinational companies (e.g. in public tenders) and on the other hand ensure that foundations address effectively cross-sectoral non-differentiating aspects (e.g. software patching, certifications, supply chain security, function gaps); develop concrete templates to support public tenders (technical annex) and to setup such open source foundations (statutes), so that high Sovereignty Effectiveness Assurance Levels (SEALs)1 can be achieved.

• (b) facilitate match-making and growth of a specialised ecosystem to support migration and operation for those Linux distributions meeting the criteria identified in (a) best through a number of activities aimed at dissemination of the study in (a) and at SMEs with interests in such business models and in forming or strengthening such foundations; the activities could encompass conferences with demand- and supply-side attendees, a creation of a public catalogue(s) of SMEs that (want to) support migration and/or operation, webinars on business requirements and public tendering

@prototyperspective hi! We are not yet very consistent with our logo use, but most often we use versions with the full text "EU OS". The full one should be used on Wikipedia.

I tried to extract the freeipa setup documentation from the running VM. Would you have a look if this is more or less (better more!) complete?
