Our premium WordPress theme Impeka has been temporarily removed from ThemeForest following a trademark complaint by a third party. While we respect the importance of trademark protection, we believe this action is unjustified and misleading.

Here are the facts:

  • Impeka was launched on April 20, 2021, as one of our flagship themes.
  • The complainant registered their trademark months after our theme had been publicly available and was well-established in the market.
  • A similar situation occurred back in 2021, shortly after Impeka’s successful release.
  • This pattern suggests that the complainant is attempting to benefit from the popularity and reputation of our product and brand.
  • The trademark they reference covers only standard characters, without any claim to design, font, or logo, making their complaint misleading.

What We’ve Done

To maintain service continuity for our clients, we temporarily renamed the theme to Impekka and made the necessary changes across platforms. Despite our efforts, the theme was again removed from ThemeForest shortly after being reactivated.

What Happens Next

We are actively working with Envato to resolve this issue. We want to reassure you that Impeka will be available again — one way or another — very soon.

👉 Update: Meet Somentra

To ensure uninterrupted customer support and updates, we have officially re-released the theme under a new name: Somentra.

Everything else, features, codebase, quality, and design, remains the same. This change is purely a name update to comply with marketplace requirements and has no impact on your current usage, license, or future updates.

You can safely continue using the theme and receive updates as before, now under the name Somentra.

📩 Subscribe to our newsletter for announcements and new products.
🔐 Register on our Hub portal using your email to receive auto-updates, notices, and direct communication.

This new process ensures that all customers stay informed and fully supported, especially as we move forward under the new theme name.

Discount 50% Issue

We recently announced a 50% discount on our theme (now named Somentra) via our newsletter. Unfortunately, shortly after activation, the item was temporarily disabled on ThemeForest due to the well-known trademark dispute, even though the discount had just gone live. Now that the theme is reinstated, we intend to relaunch the offer. However, we cannot manually reapply the discount now due to marketplace limitations. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and truly appreciate your understanding. Rest assured, we’re planning a new promotional offer soon — stay tuned and ensure you’re subscribed to our newsletter for updates.

Our Commitment

We remain fully committed to our customers. At Greatives, we’ve never abandoned a single theme, and Impeka is no exception. Our portfolio reflects our long-standing dedication to ongoing support, quality, and innovation.

We appreciate your trust and understanding during this time.

Thank you for being part of the Greatives community. 🙌

Building complicated websites in WordPress is easier when you use a builder. Two of the most popular WordPress builders are WPBakery and Elementor. Many users have used them to create custom websites without a single line of code. Since they are both super popular and user-friendly, we will provide an overview to help you decide which to use for your website. We’ll compare WPBakery and Elementor based on their features, ease of use, flexibility, performance, and pricing.

1. Overview of WPBakery and Elementor

WPBakery Page Builder

WPBakery (formerly known as Visual Composer) has been around for years and is included in many premium WordPress themes. It provides both a backend editor (also with the classic WordPress shortcode editor) and a frontend visual editor. Users can select and drag-and-drop elements to design their pages, but it also relies heavily on shortcodes. Additionally, WPBakery can offer more customization options as a bundled plugin in themes that provide enhanced controls for rows, columns, and elements.

Elementor Page Builder

Elementor is a modern, feature-rich page builder with immense popularity due to its real-time front-end editing experience. Its drag-and-drop interface, pre-built templates, and extensive widget options allow users to create visually appealing websites.

2. Key Features

WPBakery Key Features

  • Backend and frontend editing modes
  • Drag-and-drop content builder
  • Pre-designed templates and content blocks
  • Shortcode-based content structure
  • Compatible with many premium themes
  • Works well with third-party plugins
  • Extended customization options in bundled themes with advanced row and column settings

Elementor Key Features

  • True real-time front-end editing
  • Drag-and-drop page and section elements
  • Extensive library of pre-built templates on the Pro version, but fewer available free templates
  • Advanced styling and animation effects
  • Integration with WooCommerce and other plugins
  • Theme Builder for designing headers, footers, and more (only in the Pro version)

3. Key Differences Between WPBakery and Elementor

User Interface

WPBakery: Offers both backend and frontend editing, but the backend editor can feel outdated to new users.

Elementor: Provides a fully live front-end editing experience, making it easy for beginners to see changes instantly. Although the new Flexbox layout of Elementor is a great tool for developers who understand CSS, beginners with no CSS knowledge might find it difficult to understand some layout options.

Performance

WPBakery: Websites can be slowed down due to shortcode-based content.

Elementor: Optimized for performance but can still impact speed, mainly if too many widgets and animations are used.

Flexibility & Customization

WPBakery: It works well with most WordPress themes, but it is better when it comes with a well-developed theme for advanced styling.

Elementor: Offers a vast library of widgets, theme-building capabilities, and a user-friendly design workflow. However, advanced features and adding custom code are available only in the Pro version.

Compatibility

WPBakery: Commonly bundled with premium themes but may not always work well with some third-party plugins.

Elementor: It is broadly compatible with themes and plugins, and many third-party add-ons are available.

4. Pros and Cons

WPBakery Pros:

  • Widely used and included in many themes
  • Backend and frontend editing available
  • One-time payment (if purchased separately)
  • Works well with classic WordPress workflows
  • Supports add-ons for extending functionality
  • Offers additional customization in themes where it is bundled
  • Premium support

WPBakery Cons:

  • Shortcode dependency can cause issues if you switch themes
  • User interface feels outdated compared to Elementor
  • Fewer built-in widgets compared to Elementor
  • Only the premium version is available

Elementor Pros:

Intuitive live editing experience
Extensive widget library and third-party integrations
Powerful theme-building capabilities
Free version available
Regular updates with new features and optimizations
Strong community support and documentation
Has given some attention to performance

Elementor Cons:

Can impact site performance if too many elements are used
Pro version requires an annual subscription
Some advanced features require additional plugins
Slightly steeper learning curve for complete beginners

5. Pricing

WPBakery Pricing: WPBakery is available in CodeCanyon from the Envato Marketplace.

  • One-time payment per site (typically included in premium themes)
  • Additional fees may apply for extended support

Elementor Pricing: The basic version is available in the WordPress repository. The pro version pricing is available on the official website.

  • Free version available with basic features
  • Pro version requires an annual subscription
  • Additional costs for third-party add-ons and integrations

6. Which One Should You Choose?

  • If you’re using a theme that comes with WPBakery, this builder might be a good option. Greatives has created many themes based on the WPBakery Page Builder, such as Movedo and Impeka. Our latest themes, such as WeShop, are also Elementor-based.
  • If you want a modern, flexible, and user-friendly experience with advanced customization, Elementor is a better choice.
  • If performance is your top priority, consider testing both builders on your site before deciding.
  • Elementor’s free version offers more flexibility than WPBakery if you need a free solution.

Conclusion

WPBakery and Elementor are powerful tools for building WordPress websites, and the right choice depends on your needs. WPBakery is still relevant in 2025, especially for users who prefer backend editing or are working with bundled themes. However, Elementor is the more modern, flexible, and intuitive solution for most users.

Additionally, Elementor’s ecosystem continues to expand, with more third-party plugins and integrations enhancing its capabilities. WPBakery remains a solid choice for those who are comfortable with its workflow and need a stable builder that integrates well with premium themes.

If you’re looking for a WordPress theme that works seamlessly with both page builders, check out our collection of high-quality themes designed for WPBakery and Elementor!

Visual Search is already very popular nowadays. This makes it a necessity to optimize your website for visual search. Especially e-commerce websites can get the great advantage of being visually search-friendly so their products can be easily accessible to more users. Let’s discuss visual search optimization in more detail so you can learn what it is, how to use it, and how to optimize your website for it.

What is visual search?

Visual search enables users to search by uploading or pointing at images instead of typing keywords. It relies on artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze images, identify objects, and deliver relevant search results. This technology is beneficial for shopping, identifying landmarks, translating text, and more.

Google Lens is one of the most popular visual search tools available today. Developed by Google, it allows users to take a picture or use an existing image to search for information. For example, you can point your camera at a plant to learn its species or scan a product to find where to buy it online.

Other popular visual search tools include Pinterest Lens, Amazon’s visual search feature, and Bing Visual Search. Each tool helps users discover content, products, and information in unique ways.

Using Google Lens and other visual search tools

Using visual search tools is simple and intuitive. Here’s how to get started with Google Lens:

  • Download the Google Lens app or access it through the Google Photos or Google app.
  • Open the app and point your camera at an object or upload an image from your gallery.
  • Tap the search icon, and Google Lens will analyze the image and display relevant results, such as product links, descriptions, or related images.

Similarly, Pinterest Lens allows users to explore ideas and products by uploading images, while Amazon’s visual search helps users find and purchase items using their cameras.

How to succeed in visual search optimization for your website

You need to optimise your content and images to make your website visible in visual search results. Here are some actionable tips:

Use high-quality images

High-resolution, clear, and properly lit images improve the chances of your content being recognized by visual search tools. Ensure your product images and other visuals are high-quality, clear, and well-lit.

Add descriptive Alt Text

Alt text is how search engines can see the content of your images. Write descriptive, keyword-focused alt text for each image, such as “red-leather-sofa-modern-design.jpg”, instead of generic names like “IMG_1234.jpg.”

Optimize image file names

Similar to alt text, your image file names should clearly describe the image content. Replace generic file names with relevant keywords that describe the image’s content.

Implement structured data

Implement schema markup to give search engines more detailed information about your images. Structured data can help tools like Google Lens understand your content better, improving its visibility in search results.

Compress images for faster loading times

Oversized image files can affect website speed and SEO. Compress your images using tools like TinyPNG or ImageOptim to maintain quality while reducing file size.

Focus on mobile optimization

Most visual searches happen on mobile devices. Optimize your website for mobile devices by using responsive designs and ensuring quick loading times.

Leverage social media platforms

Platforms like Pinterest and Instagram are key players in visual discovery. Optimize your posts with hashtags, keywords, and high-quality images to make your content more discoverable.

Provide context with surrounding text

The surrounding text of images helps search engines determine their context. Include relevant captions, headers, and descriptive content near your images.

Create visual content for your niche

Whether it’s infographics, product photos, or tutorial images, create visuals that cater to the needs and interests of your audience. This increases the likelihood of your content being shared and discovered.

Monitor and update your strategy

Track the success of your visual content with tools like Google Search Console and other analytics platforms. Stay updated with the latest trends in visual search and refine your strategy accordingly.

The future of visual search

Visual search is set to play a crucial role in how we engage with online content. As this technology evolves, it will offer even more sophisticated ways to connect users with content. By optimizing your website for visual search now, you can gain a competitive edge and reach your audience in innovative ways.

Start implementing these strategies today to ensure your website is ready for visual search optimization. You can enhance user experience, drive more traffic, and boost your online visibility with the right approach.

It is essential to develop a comprehensive profile of your target audience. This will assist you in identifying the appropriate content to incorporate, the tone to adopt, and the ideal frequency for your email communications. Remember, a newsletter tailored to your audience’s needs is far more likely to succeed than a generic one.

Have you used the Elementor builder lately? In the last year, Elementor has made great progress in the new Containers feature, which is already a great way of building websites easily in WordPress. Since version 3.25.0, the Container feature activates both the Flexbox and Grid layout. So, you can now use both in your website development. But which one should you use for your projects, and how do they differ?

Therefore, let’s see in more detail what the Flexbox and the Grid Containers are, the benefits of each one, and see how to find out in which case you should choose each one.

What are Flexbox Containers in Elementor?

Flexbox Containers in Elementor is a new layout feature that allows you to design web pages using the CSS Flexbox model. Traditionally, Elementor relied on Sections and Columns to structure layouts. While effective, this structure could get complex quickly, especially when building intricate designs with many nested elements.

With Flexbox Containers, Elementor moves beyond the Section-Column model and embraces a modern layout system that’s more flexible and efficient. Flexbox Containers organize content along a single axis—either as rows or columns—allowing for easier alignment and distribution of elements. This structure keeps the design cleaner, reduces the need for nested elements, and enhances page performance.

In essence, Flexbox Containers make it easier to create layouts where items need to align in a row or stack in a column, giving you a more streamlined, responsive approach to design.

What are Grid Containers in Elementor?

Grid Containers are another layout option in Elementor that lets you arrange content within a grid structure. Unlike Flexbox, which aligns items along a single axis and allows the user to define the layout, Grid Containers allow for a two-dimensional layout. This means you can control rows and columns simultaneously, making it easier to create aligned layouts like galleries, dashboards, or content-heavy sections of symmetric rows and columns.

Select Grid Structure in Elementor

With Grid Containers, you can set the Container Grid and Minimum Height. Whereas you can specify the exact number of rows and columns and control the size of each row and column by selecting the custom rows and columns measurement.

Key Benefits of Flexbox Containers

Improved Page Performance: Flexbox Containers reduce the number of nested elements in a layout, enhancing page performance. Traditional Section-Column layouts often result in multiple nested layers, which can slow down load times. Flexbox minimizes this by placing elements directly within a container, reducing the HTML output and speeding up the page.

Enhanced Responsiveness: Flexbox Containers make designing responsive layouts easier. You can set elements to align in a row or stack in a column and control how they should adjust on different devices. Flexbox’s ability to wrap elements within a container makes creating layouts that look great on any screen size easy.

More Control Over Alignment and Spacing: Flexbox Containers offer precise control over the alignment, spacing, and order of elements within each container. This means you can control how items align horizontally or vertically without adding additional columns. Flexbox is especially effective for single-direction layouts requiring flexible, responsive arrangements.

Streamlined Workflow: With Flexbox Containers, your layout structure remains organised and straightforward, making editing and managing content easier. This is especially helpful when working with clients or revisiting older projects, as there are fewer nested elements to navigate.

Key Benefits of Grid Containers

Structured Two-Dimensional Layouts: Grid Containers shine when you need to organize elements in both rows and columns simultaneously. This two-dimensional structure allows for designs, such as galleries, portfolios, or product displays, where elements should align both horizontally and vertically.

Precision with Row and Column Sizing: With Grid Containers, you can set exact widths for columns and heights for rows, which provides more control over spacing and alignment. This makes it ideal for structured designs where each element’s position and size must be clearly defined.

Improved Responsiveness for Complex Layouts: Grid Containers make adjusting layouts for different devices easy. You can define grid layouts for each device type (desktop, tablet, mobile), allowing for a structured, consistent look across screens. This level of responsive control is ideal for layouts that need to retain a fixed structure.

Better Layout Management: Grid Containers allow you to easily adjust the placement of individual elements within the grid, making managing complex layouts more straightforward. This clarity and flexibility are helpful in content-heavy sections or pages where organization is key.

Flexbox vs. Grid Containers: Key Differences

Although Flexbox and Grid Containers both offer advanced layout capabilities, they are optimized for different purposes. More specifically:

1. Single-Dimensional vs. Two-Dimensional Layouts

  • Flexbox: Flexbox Containers organize items either horizontally (row) or vertically (column).
  • Grid: Grid Containers manage both horizontal and vertical layouts, making them ideal for more complex, structured designs.

2. Alignment and Spacing Control

  • Flexbox: Flexbox Containers allow items to align and distribute along one axis, making them ideal for flexible arrangements like button groups or hero sections.
  • Grid: Grid Containers provide control over row and column dimensions, allowing precise control over the placement and span of each item. This control is perfect for creating layouts that need structure and organisation.

3. Responsive Design

  • Flexbox: Flexbox is naturally responsive and lets items adjust based on container width, making it ideal for layouts that should rearrange themselves based on screen size.
  • Grid: Grid Containers also support responsive design but are typically used for layouts that need a more consistent structure. You can set different grid layouts for mobile, tablet, and desktop views, keeping a consistent grid appearance on all devices.

4. Content Reordering

  • Flexbox: You can reorder elements within a row or column without changing the HTML structure, useful for responsive designs where element order may need to shift.
  • Grid: Grid Containers offer more specific control, letting you place items in precise locations within the grid. This level of control is helpful for complex layouts without requiring changes to the underlying HTML.

5. Ease of Use and Setup

  • Flexbox: Generally easier to set up for simple layouts that need items arranged in a line or stacked in a single direction.
  • Grid: Grid requires a bit more setup to define rows and columns, but it’s worth the extra effort for highly structured layouts that benefit from aligned positioning.

Last, of course, you can use both Flexbox and Grid Containers, depending on the layout you need for each section.
Practical Use Cases for Flexbox and Grid Containers.

Practical Use Cases for Flexbox vs Grid Containers in Elementor

Flexbox Container Use Cases

  • Centered hero sections: With Flexbox, you can center a headline, subheadline, and call-to-action button within a single container.
  • Complicated layouts: Use Flexbox to arrange items of different sizes on the same row or column.

Grid Container Use Cases

  • Image Galleries: Grid Containers are perfect for displaying images in an organized layout. You can adjust the number of images appearing in each row.
  • Pricing Tables, Icon Boxes, and similar widgets: Grid containers allow for precise control of layouts that need structured columns and rows, such as pricing plans and icon boxes.

To sum up

Flexbox and Grid Containers in Elementor provide powerful tools for creating responsive, modern layouts. Flexbox is ideal for row or column layouts, while Grid Containers excel at building structured designs. If you understand the strengths of each, you can make better decisions about which layout tool to use, improving both the design and functionality of your websites. Elementor’s Flexbox and Grid Containers will help you create designs that are visually appealing, efficient, and easy to manage on any device.

In our posts, we have discussed many of the common WordPress errors before. One of the nightmares of WordPress developers is the “403 Forbidden” error you might encounter when you visit a website or try to edit it. This guide will help you understand what this error is, why you’re seeing it, and how you can fix it.

The 400 code errors usually indicate client-side errors, meaning there’s a problem with the request made by the client (usually a web browser or application) to the server.

What is the 403 Forbidden error?

A 403 Forbidden error occurs when the server understands your request but refuses to fulfil it. It’s essentially saying, “You don’t have permission to access this page.” This error can appear in several forms, depending on your browser and how you set up your website. In a WordPress environment, this error can prevent you, your visitors, or both from accessing specific pages on your website.

Why do you get the 403 error in WordPress?

There are multiple reasons you may experience this error. Here are the most common causes:

1. File permissions issue

Each file or folder on your website has permission settings that control who can read, write, or execute those files. If these permissions are incorrectly set, WordPress may block access to certain pages or files, leading to the 403 Forbidden error.

2. Corrupt .htaccess file

The .htaccess file is a critical configuration file in WordPress that helps control how your website behaves. If this file becomes corrupted, it can trigger a 403 error by incorrectly restricting access to certain parts of your website.

3. Plugin Conflicts

Sometimes, a security or caching plugin may misconfigure access rules, restricting access to certain pages or files. This is especially common if you recently installed a new plugin or updated an existing one.

4. IP Blocking

Some security plugins or your web hosting provider may block specific IP addresses to protect your site from attacks. If your IP is mistakenly blacklisted, you could end up seeing the 403 error.

5. Hotlink Protection

Hotlink protection is a security feature that prevents other websites from using your images or other files without permission. However, if it’s not set up properly, it can block legitimate users from accessing your files, leading to a 403 error.

6. Incorrect Index Page

WordPress websites rely on an index page to serve as the homepage. The server may deny access if the index page is missing or incorrectly set up, resulting in the 403 error.

Resolve the 403 Forbidden Error in WordPress

Now that we know what caused this error let’s dive into how you can fix it. Try these different solutions:

1. Check File Permissions

As we mentioned above, one of the reasons that you might see the 403 error on your website is the incorrect file permissions. WordPress files and directories need specific permissions to function properly. These specific values of the file permissions are:

  • Directories: Should have permissions set to 755.
  • Files: Should have permissions set to 644.

To change permissions, you must use an FTP client (like FileZilla) or access your hosting control panel. Simply right-click on the file or folder, select File Permissions, and ensure the settings are correct.

2. Fix or replace the .htaccess file

If your .htaccess file is corrupted, you can quickly fix the issue by creating a fresh one. Follow these steps:

  1. Access your website through FTP or your hosting account control panel.
  2. Find the .htaccess file in your root folder (often located in /public_html/).
  3. Download a backup of this file to your computer, just in case.
  4. Delete the .htaccess file from your server.
  5. Now that you removed the old file, you just need to click the Save Changes button under Settings > Permalinks in your WordPress dashboard. In this way, you can regenerate a new .htaccess file.

This should resolve the issue if the corrupted file was causing the 403 error.

3. Deactivate All Plugins

If you suspect a plugin conflict is triggering the error, deactivate all your plugins to see if the problem disappears. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
  3. Select all plugins and deactivate them from the dropdown options.

Once all plugins are deactivated, check if the error is gone. If it is, you can reactivate them one by one to identify the culprit. Once you’ve identified the problematic plugin, you can update, replace, or contact the plugin’s support team for help.

4. Check Hotlink Protection

If hotlink protection is causing the 403 error, you can either disable it or adjust its settings to ensure it doesn’t block legitimate access. You can typically find this setting in your hosting control panel (e.g., cPanel).

  1. Log into your hosting account.
  2. Navigate to Security > Hotlink Protection.
  3. Ensure that your website’s URL is included in the list of allowed sites, and adjust the settings accordingly.

5. Contact Your Hosting Provider

Last, if you’ve tried all the steps above and the 403 error persists, it might be an issue with your web hosting provider. Sometimes, hosting companies block access to specific files or directories for security reasons. Contact your provider’s support team and ask if they’ve made any changes that could be causing the error. They can also help you check for server-level issues that might be outside of your control.

Final Thoughts

The 403 Forbidden error in WordPress can be alarming, but it’s usually easy to fix once you identify the cause. Whether it’s a simple file permission issue, a corrupted .htaccess file, or a plugin conflict, following the steps outlined above should help you resolve the error and get your website back up and running.

Always back up your website before making any changes, and if you’re not comfortable performing these fixes yourself, don’t hesitate to seek help from a professional or your hosting provider.

By understanding what causes this error and knowing how to fix it, you could confront it the next time you encounter the 403 Forbidden error in WordPress.
