Best Use of AI in Education

TickTime Pomodoro Timer
Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, such as large language models (LLMs), are transforming how we interact with computers. During this weekend's hackathon, we want you to apply AI towards improving education to produce tools that support the quality, accessibility, and equitability of learning in today's classrooms. You can use AI to address any challenge teachers and students face, such as curriculum planning, question selection, teacher training, content generation, personalized feedback, automated grading and more.

For this challenge, we encourage you to draw on your own educational experiences and propose technical solutions to problems you've regularly encountered as students — after all, you are the best to know where our education system needs improvement. Design impactful and effective AI tools for education for a chance to win a TickTime Pomodoro Timer!

Judging Criteria

  • Delivery and Expression
This is how well your project is presented during your demo. A good presentation should be easy to follow and highlight what your project does, the issue it aims to solve, and the technical concepts that make up your solution.
  • Idea Innovation
No matter how much of your project you complete, your idea still matters a ton. The judges will score you on how novel your project is, what it aims to solve, and the unique way in which you chose to implement your solution.
  • Technical Complexity
Your judges are all technically inclined and will be impressed by some advanced technical implementation. Remember though, our judges focus on quality > quantity. 10,000 lines of code won't impress them if the parts don't work together seamlessly.
  • UI / UX
Judges will look at how attractive and user friendly your app is. We understand not all projects have UI's so this won't hurt your overall score if not present (though we do have a prize for best UI/UX)
  • Impact
Considers the potential for the project to effect meaningful change, prioritizing solutions that offer significant benefits to individuals, communities, or broader society when scaled.
  • Track Relevance
Judges will score how closely the project aligns with the selected tracks problem statement. If no track is selected, this will not hurt your score but will be used when selecting track winners
