About HackCC

HackCC is a 100-person, 30 hour hackathon hosted at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA

This event aims to expose college students to the technology industry and provide the necessary resources to get hands-on experience in coding. Whether you are a first-time coder or a seasoned hacker, we encourage you to enter HackCC with enthusiasm and curiosity.

Our hope is that you challenge yourself with a fun project, learn something new along the way, and feel proud of what you accomplished at the end of it all.

Requirements

  • Please submit your project on Devpost by 3PM on Sunday November 16th and make sure to add your teammates to the project. No late submissions will be considered for prizes.
  • Include an image of your project and GitHub repository for any code to be considered.
  • Submit the Google form found in announcements on Discord server by 1:30pm.
  • Previous projects are not allowed.

Judging Criteria

  • Technical Complexity
    Use of programming tools and frameworks with understanding of the technology utilized. Able to explain the reasons behind its selection for the project intended.
  • Potential Impact
    Evidence of addressing a real-world problem or need, potential to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, potential to disrupt the status quo. How impactful is the idea? Can it impact the lives of many people in a significant way?
  • Design, Implementation, & Execution
    Quality of the design, functionality, and ease of use. The project is designed and weaved together in a way that allows it to seamlessly fulfill the intended purpose. Does it work? Is it implementable?
  • Presentation
    Quality of the pitch, clarity of the presentation, effective use of visual aids and storytelling.
