About the challenge
HackED Beta is an annual student hackathon hosted by the Computer Engineering Club at the University of Alberta. On the 18th and 19th of November, student participants from across Canada will join us for 24 straight hours of hybrid in-person/virtual, team-based coding. Their task is to create a fully-functioning software or hardware project within the time limit that will be presented to a panel of judges for a chance to win awesome prizes.
For new hackers, it is is easy to feel discouraged in the highly competitive environment of a typical hackathon. That's why HackED Beta is geared exclusively towards beginners, with the goal of introducing students to the world of hackathons in a low stakes environment. We hope to challenge young hackers while encouraging industry involvement through workshops and mentoring opportunities.
