HackinMiami Hackathon Rules

Dates

  • Hackathon Dates: June 15-16, 2024
  • Submission Deadline: June 16, 2024, at 5:00 PM
  • Judging and Winner Announcement: June 16, 2024, at 7:00 PM

Eligibility

  • Participants:
    • Open to individuals aged 18 and older.
    • Teams can consist of 1-5 members.
    • Participants must register individually or as a team by June 10, 2024.
  • Team Composition:
    • Teams can be formed prior to the event or during the team formation session on June 15, 2024.
    • Each participant can only be part of one team.

Project and Submission Requirements

  • What to Build:

    • Develop a software application, tool, or system that leverages AI to address real-world challenges within the Miami tech ecosystem.
    • Projects can be focused on any area, with a special track for HealthTech innovations.
    • Use leading AI platforms, models, and APIs provided during the event.
  • What to Submit:

    • Project Title and Team Name: Clearly state the title of your project and the name of your team.
    • Abstract: A brief summary (100-200 words) describing your project, its purpose, and its key features.
    • Problem Statement: Outline the problem your project aims to solve and its significance.
    • Technical Details: Include an architecture diagram, technology stack, and detailed implementation description.
    • Demonstration: Submit a 3-5 minute video demo and be prepared for a live presentation.
    • Source Code: Provide a link to your project’s public GitHub repository, including a comprehensive ReadMe file.
    • User Documentation: Include a user guide and detailed technical documentation.
    • Additional Materials: Submit a pitch deck and any supporting files.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

  • Criteria:

    • Innovation and Creativity (25%): Originality and creativity of the idea.
    • Technical Complexity (25%): Complexity and difficulty of the technical implementation.
    • Impact and Relevance (20%): Potential impact on the Miami tech ecosystem and relevance to the problem statement.
    • Presentation and Demo (20%): Clarity and effectiveness of the project presentation and demo.
    • Documentation and Usability (10%): Quality of the project documentation and overall usability of the solution.
  • Judging Process:

    • Projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of industry experts, tech leaders, and community stakeholders.
    • Each project will be scored based on the judging criteria.
    • The top projects will be selected for the final round of presentations and live Q&A.
    • Winners will be announced at the closing ceremony on June 16, 2024, at 5:00 PM.
