The 2026 HackRare hackathon will be held in-person from Saturday, February 28th - Sunday, March 1st. The event's location and schedule can be found on the HackRare Slack.

Eligibility

Registration is closed at this time.

Prizes

The top teams in each track (Genomic Diagnostics, Therapeutic Targets, Symptom Management) will each receive an award of $2000. 

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Projects in each track will be evaluated independently by up to four judges. The judging rubric can be accessed here.

AI Usage

Teams are permitted to use AI tools (including generative models such as ChatGPT) at their own discretion throughout the hackathon. However, teams are expected to thoroughly understand and be able to explain all parts of their project that were developed with the assistance of such tools, and may be asked to elaborate on (e.g., demonstrate the functionality of) these parts during their presentation.
