Eligibility
HackTheEast is open to currently enrolled university students and recent graduates (within 3 years of graduation). Participants must be at least 18 years old or have parental consent. All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to experienced developers.
Original Work
- All code must be written during the official hackathon period.
- Previously started projects or pre-written codebases are strictly not allowed.
- Using prior knowledge, tutorials, and public documentation is allowed.
- Public frameworks, APIs, and open-source libraries are allowed.
- You may build on an idea you had before, but you must implement it from scratch for this event, without reusing your own prior private code for core functionality.
- Forking open-source repos is allowed if your submission adds substantial newfunctionality or a significantly different application. You must clearly credit the original repo in the README.
Submission
- All work must stop at the end of the official hackathon period.
- Organizers may inspect commit timestamps, video metadata, and other evidence; changes after the deadline may disqualify the project.
