Requirements

What to Build

Create a project that addresses one of Hack Trent 2024’s themes: AI, Environmental Impact, Game Development, or Forensic Science. Build an application, game, tool, or any innovative solution that tackles real-world challenges within these categories. You can use any tech stack or framework of your choice – from mobile apps and web platforms to machine learning models and interactive games.

What to Submit

  1. Project Name and Description – Give your project a name and a brief summary of its purpose.
  2. Challenge Category – Indicate which challenge your project addresses (e.g., AI, Environmental Impact).
  3. Features and Functionality – Outline key features, how it works, and any unique elements.
  4. Demo Video (2-3 mins) – Showcase your project in action, highlighting key functions.
  5. Code Repository (GitHub or similar) – Include your project’s code, README file, and any setup instructions.
  6. Technical Documentation – Provide an overview of the tech stack, tools used, and implementation details.
  7. Future Scope and Improvements – Mention potential upgrades or future work.

Dates: Hack Trent 2024 will take place from November 8 to 10, 2024, at Trent University's Student Centre and Champlain College in Peterborough, Ontario.

Eligibility:

  • The hackathon is open to post-secondary students across North America, who must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school students from Peterborough are also welcome to participate.
  • Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible.

Project and Submission Requirements:

  • Project Scope: Teams will work on projects within the themes of Artificial Intelligence, Environmental Impact, Game Development, or Forensic Science. Projects should be original and developed during the hackathon period.

  • Team Composition: Participants can form teams of up to four members. Individual participation is also allowed.

  • Hacking Period: Hacking begins on Friday, November 8, at 10:00 PM and ends on Sunday, November 10, at 10:00 AM. Projects submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

  • Submission Materials:

    • Project Description: A brief overview of the project, including its purpose and functionality.
    • Demonstration Video: A short video (2-3 minutes) showcasing the project's features and operation.
    • Source Code: A link to the project’s code repository (e.g., GitHub), with clear instructions for setup and usage.
    • Documentation: Detailed information on the project’s architecture, technologies used, and any challenges faced.
  • Submission Deadline: All materials must be submitted by 10:00 AM on Sunday, November 10, 2024.
