Hack Code of Conduct

All attendees, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and staff at Hack Trent 2024 must agree to the following Code of Conduct, which will be enforced throughout the event. We expect everyone’s cooperation to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all.

Quick Overview Hack Trent 2024 is dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable, and harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of:

  • Gender, gender identity, and expression
  • Age
  • Sexual orientation
  • Disability
  • Physical appearance and body size
  • Race and ethnicity
  • Nationality
  • Religion
  • Political views
  • Previous hackathon attendance or experience level
  • Chosen programming language or tech stack

Harassment in any form will not be tolerated. Sexual language and imagery are inappropriate at any hackathon venue, including:

  • Hacks
  • Talks, presentations, and demos
  • Workshops
  • Parties associated with the hackathon
  • Social media or online platforms

Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from Hack Trent at the discretion of the organizers.

Detailed Code of Conduct

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to identity or appearance, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, non-consensual photography or recording, disruption of talks or events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. All hacks and interactions are subject to this anti-harassment policy.

Photography & Privacy

  • Photography is encouraged, but participants should have the option to opt out.
  • Do not take photos in areas where privacy is expected (e.g., bathrooms or sleeping areas).

Reporting and Support If you are harassed, notice harassment, or have concerns, please contact a hackathon staff member immediately. Staff will assist by contacting security, local law enforcement, or providing an escort if needed.

Organizers may take action against those who violate this policy, including issuing warnings or expelling the offender without refund if applicable.

We expect all participants to uphold these guidelines at hackathon venues and related events.
