Requirements

CHALLENGE #1

Securing Genomic Data

Genomic data is some of the most sensitive and personally identifying information a person can possess. If compromised, it can reveal predispositions to specific diseases, family relationships, or other intimate details, with the potential for discrimination, fraud, or other misuse that can have lifelong impacts. This challenge addresses how to maintain the individual challenges of privacy, integrity, and ethical use of genomic data—from collection and analysis to sharing among researchers—while still supporting crucial medical breakthroughs and scientific collaboration.

CHALLENGE #2

Biosurveillance Challenge

Zoonotic diseases, which jump from animals to humans, are a growing concern as our ecosystems and patterns of human-animal contact change. Early detection and monitoring of these potential outbreaks is essential for preventing widespread health crises, protecting food supplies, and safeguarding human communities. This challenge seeks new approaches to track, predict, and mitigate the spillover of diseases across species, ensuring that public health officials and researchers can respond rapidly and effectively.

CHALLENGE #3

Microscope Vision Challenge

Explore the use of advanced microscopy and cutting-edge computer vision techniques—leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs), Large Vision Models (LVMs), or custom machine learning algorithms—to rapidly and accurately identify pathogens, disease biomarkers, and other relevant patterns in microscopic images. By advancing the speed and precision of image analysis, participants can help transform fields ranging from medical diagnostics to environmental science, enabling faster data-driven decisions and groundbreaking discoveries.
