Nextcloud community - Latest posts https://help.nextcloud.com Latest posts Let's encrypt won't renew a certificate for my Nextcloud AIO So for those who run into the problem in the future I spent a few hours on this and figured it out with the help of Claude.ai since I couldn’t find a good answer in any of my Googling.

During this time the LETSENCRYPT_EMAIL= value was my correct email address.

In the nextcloud-aio-apache container, in /mnt/data/caddy/acme/ I had 2 folders

acme-staging-v02.api.letsencrypt.org-directory
acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org-directory

Both had configurations for default.json, the staging one had values and the acme-v02 one did not they were just missing.

I deleted both folders and restarted the container. Only acme-v02.api.letsencrypt.org-directory directory got re-downloaded and my certificate was renewed without error.

How, precisely did you do the restore?

Was it the process for restoring described in the Admin Manual?

The most common I see this happening is when someone does a move or copy * operation between folders on the host. That won’t include dot files such as .ncdata.

short answer: “no”

raw data could be copied:

  • add users in snap and then copy raw data from bare metal to snap data directory →
    /var/snap/nextcloud/common/nextcloud/data/$USER
    • then scan all files sudo nextcloud.occ files:scan --all

but database will be very difficult and not recommended
no guarantees though, never tried this before… and it probably won’t work!

  • export mysql database from bare metal install and import into snap →
    sudo nextcloud.import -b but you’d lose all path references!
    you will have to rescan:
    • sudo nextcloud.occ files:repair-tree
    • sudo nextcloud.occ files:scan --all
    • sudo nextcloud.occ files:scan-app-data

recommend running both instances in parallel and then rclone the data from one instance to the other.

I have a local Nextcloud instance: Nextcloud Hub 25 Autumn (32.0.6), which I installed on a Univention (UCS) 5.2 via the App Center. This was installed as a Docker container.However, the actual data is stored on a different UCS (Directory Manager) and is integrated into Nextcloud for users as external storage (CIFS). So the data is not stored directly on the Nextcloud instance. On the file server (Samba-AD), there is a share named “Photos” which, as mentioned, is integrated for the user “tom” in the Nextcloud web UI. That works fine.

I’ve connected my Android 16 / GrapheneOS device using the Nextcloud app and can see all the shares there. Furthermore, I have set up auto-upload in the app: DCIM/Camera → Photos/tom Newly taken photos automatically end up in the Photos/tom directory. I am looking for a way to automatically move them into an appropriate directory structure. The images should be placed in the appropriate folder based on their EXIF header (creation date):

[Year]/[Month Number]_[Month Name]

It needs to be moved, or if it doesn’t exist, it should be created. I spent the whole day trying to solve the problem by searching online, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to do so.

I found out that I first need to tag the files. To do this, I installed “Files Automated Tagging” and created a rule that matches the filename /^IMG_.*.jpg$/ → Tag: photos_by_date

I did that as the user “tom” in the WebUI, not as an administrator. I’m not sure if that’s correct. I thought it was because the user “Administrator” hadn’t mounted the CIFS share.

The tag is also set correctly.

I also read that I need the “Workflow external scripts” app, which I’ve already installed. However, I’m stuck here. Logged in as an administrator: Administrator Settings → Workflow (under Administration), I can define rules:

I guess I have to create the script in the container’s filesystem? I found some paths in the forum where it should go (/var/nextcloud/.scripts). This path doesn’t exist on my UCS. Meiner Meinung nach habe ich das zwar beachtet, aber ich stelle es natürlich gern noch zur Verfügung:

  • Bei welchen Anbieter? Lokal gehostet auf eigenem NAS
  • Auf welcher Hardware? Als Docker Container auf einer Synology DS218+
  • Betriebssystem: DSM bzw. als Docker Container mit offiziellem Image
  • Nextcloud Version: 33.0.0
  • PHP Version: unbekannt
  • Welche Datenbank? MariaDB als eigenes Docker Image
  • Apache version: Wie im original Container eingerichtet
  • Läuft NC in Docker
  • Netzwerk Aufgliederung: zb. Router>NAS>. Zugriff von Extern über DynDNS und und dann über Reverse Proxy. Probleme treten auch innerhalb des lokalen Netzwerks auf, also ohne Zugriff von außen.
  • Wurden vor kurzen Server Updates gemacht? Das Docker Image wurde vor ca. 1 Woche aktualisiert. Ansonsten habe ich derzeit nichts aktualisiert, die installierten Apps sind aber ebenfalls aktuell. (OnlyOffice vs 10.0 und DocumentCommunity Server in 0.21, wobei es auf dem Server schon 0.22 gibt)
  • Habt ihr die Logs angesehen von Nextcloud und von System? Loginfo von Nextcloud ist oben gepostet
  • Bei was für einer Aktion ist der Fehler aufgetreten? Beim Aufruf eines Office Dokuments in der Nextcloud sowohl bei Zugriff über den Browser vom Desktop als auch von einem mobilen Client. Das verhalten ist überall identisch.

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Collabora and nextcloud installed and configured. Apache reverse proxy configured on 192.168.0.3; 2 hosts https://cloud.osteo7-7.ch redirects to 192.168.0.78 and https://collabora.osteo7-7.ch redirects to 192.168.0.13:9980. Nextcloud interface says Collabora server is accessible. Firewall has 80 and 443 opened and all traffics goes directly to 192.168.0.3 where the reverse proxy is.

ich bin langsam am verzwiefeln und hoffe, hier etwas Hilfe zu bekommen. Ich betreibe meine Nextcloud zu Haus in einem Docker Container auf einem Synology NAS. Bisher hatte ich dort auch OnlyOffice im Einsatz, was auch mal funktionierte. Seite kurzem aber leider nicht mehr, und ich werde auf den logs nicht schlau.

Was genau passiert bzw. passiert nicht:

  • Sobald ich in der Nextcloud über den Browser (und ich habe mehrere probiert) eine Office Datei öffne, starte auch OnlyOffice, allerdings nur mit einem weissen Bild.

Mehr passiert nicht. Es geht nicht weiter.

In den Einstellungen habe ich alles kontrolliert aber soweit auch nichts geändert. Das sieht eigentlich gut aus. Server ist eingetragen, ich habe bereits mehrfach auf speichern geklickt und auch ein prompt erscheint, der mir das erfolgreichen Speichern bestätigt.

Ich kann auch unten die Allgemeinen Einstellungen sehen und bearbeiten. Soweit passt das alles.

Wenn ich in die Logs gehe erhalte ich folgende Meldung:

Was ich merkwürdig finde ist der Pfad. Ein Verzeichnes “doc” gibt es z.B. gar nicht bei mir. Ich habe auch den documentserver manuell nochmals heruntergeladen und entpackt und auch dort ist ein solcher Ordner nicht vorhanden. Also irgendwie klar, dass da ein Fehler kommt.

Ich habe auch bereits alles einmal deinstalliert und neu installiert. Leider ohne Erfolg.

Bisher konnte ich keine Lösung finden und hoffe, dass mir jemand einen Tipp geben kann.

Collabora and nextcloud installed and configured. Apache reverse proxy configured on 192.168.0.3; 2 hosts https://cloud.osteo7-7.ch redirects to 192.168.0.78 and https://collabora.osteo7-7.ch redirects to 192.168.0.13:9980. Nextcloud interface says Collabora server is accessible. Firewall has 80 and 443 opened and all traffics goes directly to 192.168.0.3 where the reverse proxy is.

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Around the end of January the mobile Talk app updated and we were no longer able to retrieve conversations from the server using the app, as adding a conversation would give a HTTP 426 error. Today I updated the server to the latest version, but the issue persists (same 426 error). Both server and app use Talk version 23. Push notifications do still appear on mobile, but the conversations are inaccessible.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Create a new conversation in the mobile Talk app

  2. Tap any contact in the list, it then shows red text saying: “Error: HTTP 426”

Summary of the issue you are facing:

Collabora and nextcloud installed and configured. Apache reverse proxy configured on 192.168.0.3; 2 hosts https://cloud.osteo7-7.ch redirects to 192.168.0.78 and https://collabora.osteo7-7.ch redirects to 192.168.0.13:9980. Nextcloud interface says Collabora server is accessible. Firewall has 80 and 443 opened and all traffics goes directly to 192.168.0.3 where the reverse proxy is.

I think the main issue, memory wise, is that the whole json file is parsed and processed. The file itself is sadly quite large and already an issue in itself.

That being said, Nextcloud 25 community support ended in 2023, so at this point the deployment cannot be considered secure anymore.

some years ago we started with authenticating towards our local AD via ldap-backend.

some time ago we added an SSO-login (entraID) which works fine. for both systems we used samaccountname as identifier to map both technical accounts to one user.

login works fine, but when sharing something within nextcloud a user is shown twice. i guess one is from SSO-login, and the other is from the LDAP-backend. we already disabled the ldap-sync for users (only some groups were still needed).

is there any way to remove “wrong” users from the sharing-contacts?
