UAIS Hex Tournament: Final Sprint
Hi all,
We are into the final weekend of the Computer Hex Tournament! With just over 72 hours left until the submission deadline, we want to update you on several things going on with the tournament:
- We are excited to announce that the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute has jumped on as a Silver-level sponsor! The prize amounts will be reworked to account for this increase in funds, so be sure to keep an eye out for that!

New Q+A and Work Sessions for Computer Hex Tournament
Hi all!
In the interest of giving you as much help as you need, we have extended the number of help sessions for the final two weeks of the competition! For this week and next, help will be available in the Student Innovation Centre on Monday from 2-3, Wednesday from 3-4, and Friday from 4-5.
We only have 14 days until submissions are due. We're super pumped to see what you guys build!

Update to default board size, availability of training data.
Hi all!
As some of you may be aware, the example games of Hex that were listed on our repository are currently unavailable since the site is down. To compensate, we have made some example games available on the repository here. Note that the format of the training data is described in this README. This data will be updated as more becomes available, with ~10,000 training games likely to be available by Wednesday. These games are from self-play by the high-level program “Wolve”, set to a mid-range search depth. Fun fact: Wolve was developed here at the University…

Work & Q+A Sessions for UAIS' Computer Hex Tournament
We're happy to announce that we have secured the upper floor of the Student Innovation Center as a workspace until reading week! Pop by on Fridays between 4:00–5:00 for dedicated time to work on your Hex programs. Developers will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have and to help you break through bugs or problems you might be struggling with. This will immediately be followed by the Undergrad AI Society's weekly meetings from 5:00-6:00, where we have our Kaggle and Rocket League Bot groups. See you Friday!
