The local organising committee has put together an exciting programme with keynote speakers from industry and academia, highlighting the breadth and diversity of the mathematical geosciences and their importance worldwide. In particular we are looking forward to talks by our awardees: Prof Peter Atkinson (Krumbein medallist), Dr Denis Allard (Matheron Lecturer) and Mohan Srivastava (Distinguished Lecturer 2027), as well as to parallel sessions at the forefront of current research. We are also pleased to introduce a new initiative this year: a collaboration with the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics – Commission on Mathematical Geophysics, which has contributed several sessions to the programme.
The conference venue located in the heart of Montreal will provide the ideal ambience for our meeting with many opportunities for informal gatherings and hopefully the start of new collaborative endeavours.

EFG and IAMG Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Collaboration https://iamg.org/2025/09/18/efg-and-iamg-sign-memorandum-of-understanding-to-strengthen-collaboration/ Thu, 18 Sep 2025 08:21:43 +0000 https://iamg.org/?p=1437 The European Federation of Geologists (EFG) and the International Association of Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2025 to formalise their commitment to cooperation and mutual support.

The agreement sets out a broad framework for collaboration, including joint efforts in skills development and professional recognition, cooperation in organising events and conferences, sharing technical knowledge and resources to benefit their respective memberships, and enhanced strategic outreach, among other areas.

This partnership represents a significant step towards advancing the shared objectives of the geoscience and mathematical geoscience communities at an international level.
