IDENER.AI kicks off METALLICO project activities with the site visit to Cobre las
Cruces

In August 2024, at the start of our journey with METALLICO Project, IDENER.AI had the opportunity to visit Cobre Las Cruces in Seville, where the project has been piloted from its inception.

The METALLICO project aims to develop sustainable methods to recover and produce critical and battery-grade metals such as lithium, cobalt, copper, manganese, and nickel from both primary and secondary resources to support the EU´s strategic autonomy in battery materials and raw materials supply.

On January 19 and 20, 2026, the second METALLICO review meeting took place in Seville, organized by IDENER.AI and Cobre las Cruces. The objective of this session was to present and discuss the work done so far in the project with the project officer and the reviewer.
The visit enabled us to observe and examine the hydrometallurgical plant, the open pit mine, the laboratories, and, as a special highlight, the TAILCO polit plant. This experience allowed the team to gain valuable insights into operational processes, experimental setups, and potential areas for optimization.

The ONE4ALL team learns about manufacturing processes during a visit to Madama
Oliva.

The ONE4ALL project team carried out a technical site visit to the production facilities of Madama Oliva on April 14–15, 2025, with the aim of gaining an in-depth understanding of the company’s manufacturing processes, operational workflows, and production scheduling procedures.

During the visit, the IDENER team conducted an on-site assessment of the current
production environment. This evaluation provided valuable insights into Madama Oliva’s
production scheduling workflow, particularly how Excel-based planning tools interact
with the company’s ERP and MES systems. As a result, the team identified several
opportunities to enhance data integration and operational efficiency.

Among the potential improvements detected were the automation of selected product
lines, stronger integration between planning and manufacturing systems, and the
application of Decision Support System (DSS) tools to support more informed
operational decisions.

In addition, relevant technical data was collected, including material inputs, production rates, rejection rates, and operational constraints. This information could contribute to more efficient planning processes and enhanced operational decision-making.

The activities carried out during the visit align with the broader objectives of the ONE4ALL project, which aims to reinforce the resilience and flexibility of the manufacturing lines through innovative modular and reconfigurable technologies centered on humans and sustainability.

Within this framework, IDENER.AI plays a key role in the ONE4ALL project by coordinating
the development of advanced digital solutions to support more sustainable and efficient
industrial processes. Its work includes creating tools to monitor and optimize resource
consumption, assessing organizations’ digital maturity and sustainability, and defining
the requirements and specifications for digital twins and decision support systems.
Moreover, the company also develops and validates data-driven digital twins and smart distributed decision support systems, while scouting innovative architectures and open-
source protocols to build a secure, open infrastructure. In addition, Idener contributes to interoperability tools and platform interfaces, deploys IIoT devices for real-time
monitoring, and integrates collaborative robots (cobots) with digital tools to strengthen the connection between physical operations and data-driven decision making.

Strategic talks take center stage at CITADEL General Assembly in Ljubljana

The CITADEL project forges ahead, and this time in Slovenia. IDENER has participated in the third CITADEL Consortium Meeting, which took place from April 2-4, 2025, in the cities of Ljubljana and Hrastnik. Hosted by the Josef Stefan Institute and Hrastnik1860, this assembly allowed the consortium partners to present and assess their progress and plan for the future.

The start of implementation and demonstration activities of the project’s innovative heating technologies this year led to fruitful discussions on the status of the demo cases and their electrification strategies during the first day. In this context, as leaders of WP6 and WP8, IDENER presented the first insights into the flexibility services analysis methodology, including the successful WP6 kick-off in February 2025, and the renovated business plan strategy with a preliminary techno-economic analysis for the HRASTNIK demo case.

On the second day, we had the opportunity to attend an exclusive tour of the Hrastnik1860 facilities, where we witnessed first-hand all the manufacturing processes to produce glass containers of the highest quality. This enabled us to better understand the processes comprised in the demos case 2, especially those related to the melting glass furnaces.

The CITADEL project will continue to advance in increasing the proportion of electrical energy used in the glass melting process, contributing to the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries.

ALUNA hosts key training & pilot session to strengthen fight against child sexual abuse

The ALUNA project, dedicated to the critical mission of combating Child Sexual Abuse (CSA), recently hosted an instrumental training and pilot session in Athens. This event signifies a major step in the project’s progression, with Idener at the helm of the technical work package, playing a vital role in the orchestration of the development efforts by the project’s technical partners.

Pablo Gallegos from IDENER.AI, who leads the technical direction of the project, works in close collaboration with the University Complutense Madrid (UCM), the project’s coordinator. Together, they ensure that the tools being developed are put through rigorous testing, with a focus on practical application throughout the project’s timeline.

The Athens session was particularly advantageous, as it provided an authentic environment for the end-users, primarily Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), to engage directly with the newly developed tools. Such hands-on experience is crucial for obtaining genuine feedback, which is invaluable in fine-tuning the tools to better serve the needs of LEAs in their daily endeavors to tackle CSA.

The feedback gathered from these end-users is a cornerstone of the project, driving the technical partners to refine and improve the tools with precision. This iterative cycle of development, testing, and enhancement ensures that the solutions devised by the ALUNA project are not only technologically advanced but also user-centric and operationally sound, greatly benefiting law enforcement in their vital work.

As the ALUNA project continues to evolve, the dedication to creating impactful, practical tools for LEAs remains steadfast. This training and pilot session in Athens marks a significant step forward in the project’s journey to empower LEAs with the best resources to protect children and combat the scourge of CSA.

HEROES project concludes with outbreaking results

The HEROES project has reached a momentous conclusion, marking a significant milestone as Idener’s inaugural venture into addressing pressing societal challenges. This final assembly was not just a routine wrap-up but an opportunity to affirm the project’s success, with the European Commission witnessing the presentation of results well beyond the project’s completion in November 2024. In February 2025, at the Commission’s request, the consortium gathered to showcase their innovative contributions to the fight against human trafficking (THB) and child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSA/CSE).

Idener, renowned for its technical expertise, played a pivotal role in the development of advanced tools utilizing Machine Learning and other sophisticated technologies to support law enforcement and NGOs in their critical work. Pablo Gallegos, representing IDENER.AI, took center stage to unveil the fruits of their labor, detailing the effectiveness of the tools informed by insights from pilot sessions conducted in Madrid.

The project’s successful closure is a testament to the collaborative effort and the high-caliber tools produced, which have not only met the project’s goals but have also drawn the attention of various law enforcement agencies, including EUROPOL. The interest generated has prompted discussions on different strategies to expand and refine these tools further.

As HEROES comes to an end, the journey continues with the ALUNA project, where Idener and some of its consortium partners from HEROES have once again joined forces. This new endeavor focuses on creating essential tools to bolster the fight against Child Sexual Abuse (CSA), continuing the momentum of addressing critical issues through innovative technological solutions.

The dedication demonstrated in HEROES will carry forward, ensuring that the efforts made and the advancements achieved will resonate and evolve. The tools developed under HEROES have set a foundation for ongoing initiatives, promising a brighter and safer future for society’s most vulnerable.
