Susan Sawatzky President and Founder
Susan Sawatzky, B. Ed, CRSP, HSA, President of In-Scope Solutions, leads the organization and also provides consulting services, training and presentations. She has a long history of providing services in Human Risk Factors specializing in fatigue risk management, stress management, and psychological health and safety in the workplace. She consults with a variety of industries and works with clients across the United States and Canada.
Susan is an international speaker and keynote conference presenter. She has presented for a variety of conferences and organizations with notable clients, including the American Society of Safety Professionals, the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering, the Direct Delivery Leadership Council, the Global Conference on Fatigue Management, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Susan is an instructor with the University of Alberta, the University of New Brunswick, and the University of Calgary, instructing numerous courses in their various OHS Programs. She has also worked for some of the certifying partners, including being the previous south region manager for the Alberta Construction Safety Association, as well as managing their virtual online training program. She also previously worked as an industry liaison manager for Energy Safety Canada.
Susan works directly with many industry groups and associations to assist them in guiding change throughout their industries through education and program development. She was involved in creating fatigue policy and guidelines for the Canadian oil and gas industry as the previous manager of their fatigue portfolio.
Susan’s numerous volunteer commitments include being the past president of the Alberta Society of Health and Safety Professionals, a newly formed society looking to gain regulatory oversight for the health and safety profession. She has also served on the Alberta Labour Working Group on Psychological H&S Issues in the workplace and volunteers with the CSSE. Susan has been a certified External COR HSE Auditor and is a CMHA-certified psychological health and safety advisor.
In her personal life Susan is an avid runner who is inspired by travel, scuba diving and doing international and environmental conservation volunteer work.
Browyn Sawatzky Vice President
Browyn Sawatzky, BA Comm., MHFA, is the Vice President of In-Scope Solutions, specializing in training, education, research, and content development. She primarily focuses on areas such as fatigue and stress management, mental health and wellness, harassment prevention, leadership development, and workplace psychological health and safety. She has worked with an assortment of industries and clients across the United States and Canada.
With extensive experience working with various clients, Browyn has earned a reputation as a top-quality presenter who delivers engaging content embedded with an array of interactive components. She has demonstrated a strong ability to connect with audiences of all levels.
Browyn has conducted numerous presentations for private industry clients across various sectors, including oil & gas, municipalities, transportation, healthcare, pulp and paper, aviation, and more.
In addition, Browyn has developed multiple online university courses focused on psychological health and safety for employees, supervisors, and senior leaders. These courses integrate current research with practical knowledge, enabling students to apply their learning to real-world situations.
She frequently is creating dynamic content for presentations, training programs, and workshops, ensuring they are both informative and captivating.
Kimberley Hobbs Leadership Consultant
Kimberley Hobbs is an independent consultant specializing in Human Risk Factors, including workplace harassment prevention, psychological health and safety in the workplace, and specializing in leadership development. She brings a passionate and inspired perspective to In-Scope’s clients based upon 20+ years of combined experience in operations, risk management, and health & safety.
Kim is a skilled people leader and program manager with extensive experience across a variety of industries. She began her safety career in 2000, at a time when safety was not embedded into corporate culture as it is today. It was an exciting time to develop professionally and be a part of fundamental changes in corporate safety for many organizations. Kim’s technical and operational experience expands across a variety of industries, including technical environmental work in the oil & gas sector, municipal health & safety advising, and airfield maintenance and operations management for Canada’s fourth busiest international airport.
Kim is passionate about assisting organizations in optimizing their biggest asset, the employees. Utilizing a risk-based and objective approach she works with In Scope’s clients to provide a clear and measurable understanding of the operational and human cost benefits of effectively managing Human Risk Factors. Where areas of improvement can be found, Kim works with In-Scope’s clients to ensure that suitable and customizable solutions are optimized. She loves to share her experience and knowledge through training workshops, presentations and consulting.
