When we decided to buy a house in Avalon, Jack Binder was consistently recommended to me by anyone I asked -- for his knowledge of the island, integrity, compassion and judgment, among many other things. We hadn’t been renters since 2015 and hadn’t owned anything in Avalon since 1986 but with the kids out of the nest we wanted to recapture some of the fun of our youth. We decided to stop in unannounced at our former rental agents, Ferguson Dechert and see if Jack Binder Sr was able to show us around. He wasn’t there but his son Jack Jr was and within ten minutes he had us at our first property. The house was beautiful but a little too close to the main drag for a couple of old folks like us. The next house Jack showed us was near the ballfields on the quiet North end of the town. The couple that owned the property had just redone the house and it was perfect for us. Five bedrooms and three baths with a pool. The price was within our range as well.
