Frequently Asked Questions

A hackathon is where student innovators come together for a weekend of building, learning, and creating something entirely their own. When the countdown ends, you'll pitch your project and compete for exciting prizes. Along the way, you can level up your skills in hands-on workshops, connect with mentors, and enjoy fun mini-activities. It's your chance to explore new ideas, experiment with tech, and be part of a vibrant, collaborative community.

Yes, JAMHacks is completely free to attend! Thanks to our sponsors, meals, snacks, and SWAG will all be provided throughout the weekend. Just bring your creativity (and your appetite) and we'll take care of the rest.

Your project can be on anything you can dream up as long as it involves technology in some way. Whether it's something practical, or something more creative, this is your chance to build something you're excited about. The only limit is your imagination!

We'll keep the event organized on Discord, that's where all the big announcements, updates, and mentor connections will happen. The full schedule will be released closer to the event, and we'll share real-time highlights and reminders on Instagram. Stay tuned so you don't miss a thing!

That's completely okay! JAMHacks is just as much about learning as it is about building. We'll host beginner-friendly workshops, and mentors will be available throughout the weekend to help. Plus, hackathons need designers, presenters, organizers, and big-picture thinkers meaning that there's a place for everyone on a team.

We're inviting all high school students to join the JAMHacks 10 celebrations! If you're outside that group, you can still join the celebration as a mentor or judge and help guide the next generation of innovators.

Yes, participants are welcome to stay at the venue for the duration of the event. Think of it like a giant sleepover! Bring your essentials, a sleeping bag, and anything you need to stay comfy for the weekend. We'll provide the space for you!

At the end of the weekend, you'll pitch your project to a panel of judges, demonstrate your work, and answer questions. A recorded pitch is required for submission. Judging focuses on creativity and effort — don't worry if your project isn't perfect. What matters most is what you learned and built along the way.

Teams can have up to four people. Teams will not be assigned, and you can form your team before the event or meet new friends once you arrive. You will have time to find teams at the venue or on the Discord at your own pace!

Unfortunately, this year's event will be held fully in person. We're excited to bring everyone together for a hands-on, collaborative experience.
