about image

Hi there, I am Jinfan Yang, a PhD student at the University of British Columbia, supervised by Prof. Alla Sheffer. My research interests span across topics in Digital Geometry Processing. I have been particularly interested in 3D Shape Representation, Decomposition, Computational Manufacturing and Image Processing. Previously, I was a Visiting Researcher at University College London and completed my M.S. at New York University.

Professional Experience

CLO Virtual Fashion
CLO Virtual Fashion Research and Development Intern
Los Angeles, US | Jun 2025 – Jan 2026
  • Designed and implemented a novel surface decomposition algorithm for manufacturing-oriented geometry workflows.
  • Formalized designer requirements into algorithmic constraints and tool behaviour; iterated through rapid feedback cycles to improve usability and output quality.
Nvidia
Nvidia Research Intern
Vancouver, Canada | Jun 2022 – Nov 2022
  • Investigated double-height fields as a geometry representation for fast rendering applications, characterized trade-offs in quality, memory, and performance.
  • Built a ray-tracing prototype using Vulkan and compute shaders to validate feasibility.
SAP
SAP China Software Design Engineer Intern
Beijing, China | Jan 2015 – Jan 2016
  • Built an analytics pipeline connecting database and front-end tooling to auto-generate PowerPoint reports from raw staff work records.
  • Supported the IoT team in developing a real-time multi-terminal monitoring system.
