The package is based on TM’s Magic Radio jingles and has been customised for the station, including sung versions of Clare FM’s strapline “Playing The Biggest Hits”.

The new audio branding has been produced across the UK and the USA, with TM Studios also creating updated sweepers and idents as part of the station’s refreshed sound.

Padraic Flaherty, Head of Operations at Clare FM, said: “It’s fantastic to be working with TM again, our new package is a perfect fit for our station. Every jingle works seamlessly with our brand and music. Amazing work from Chris and the team!”

Chris Stevens from TM Studios said the project builds on a long working relationship with Padraic.

“I first worked with Padraic almost 20 years ago, so it’s been great to develop Clare FM’s new sound. The Magic Radio package has such a classy sound; it’s the perfect fit for what Padraic and his team are broadcasting to County Clare”.

Clare FM joins a number of Irish stations using TM Studios jingles and branding, including 96FM, C103 and Tipp FM, as well as newer DAB services Bob FM and Raidió Rí-Rá.

The company adds that the montage represents a small selection of its Spanish-language work, spanning a range of styles and station identities.

The team was asked to give Harry Winkler Rauter’s classic track Rocking Affair a 2025 refresh, balancing nostalgia with the energy of today’s playlist.

The new version combines live orchestral performances with contemporary pop and rock production, recorded at SWR Funkstudio Berg in Stuttgart with the SWR Symphonieorchester, conducted by Cliff Masterson.

Phil Tozer, Managing Director at Wisebuddah, said the aim was to “keep the soul of Rocking Affair alive while giving it the energy that feels right for 2025.” Conductor Cliff Masterson praised the result, saying the team “brought it up-to-date but captured the history of the music.”

Following a competitive pitch, TM Studios was chosen to craft a complete sonic identity for Magic Radio’s rebrand, covering shows from Gok Wan and Harriet Scott at breakfast to the evening favourite, Mellow Magic. The brief was to make Magic sound new again while keeping its signature warmth.

Chris Stevens and Dave Bethell led the project for TM Studios, blending UK and US vocal talent to produce a melody that feels both familiar and modern.

Chris said the goal was to “create a sound that connects generations of listeners, from those who already know and trust Magic Radio, to new audiences discovering it for the first time.”

Bauer’s Group Operations Director Chris Ward said the result is “contemporary, friendly, and the new melody immediately sticks in your head.”

The new package also extends across Magic Soul, Magic Musicals, and Magic Christmas, bringing a unified sound across the network. More information and the launch video are available at youtube.com.

It marks the first major jingle update for the network in eight years and has been developed in collaboration with UK-based creative agency Wisebuddah to modernise the sound while preserving each territory’s distinctive musical heritage.

The new imaging package is built around a flexible seven-note melody, designed to be instantly recognisable while adaptable to local styles. It combines electronic textures with regional instruments and rhythms, and features multiple vocalists to capture the diversity of the nine overseas stations.

The production team says the project brought both artistic and logistical challenges, uniting the varied sound worlds of territories spread across the globe. “Creating the new audio branding for the public radio stations across the French overseas territories was a true challenge – artistically, bringing together their rich and diverse musical cultures, and logistically, coordinating all nine territories,” a spokesperson said.

They added: “The result is original, unique, and has naturally found its place on our stations. A high-quality project that has delighted both our teams and listeners.”

La 1ère operates across the French overseas departments and territories including Guadeloupe, Martinique, Réunion, Mayotte, French Guiana, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and Wallis and Futuna.

The international jingle and branding specialists created 10 custom themes covering the full range of music played across BFBS Radio’s stations, which broadcast in 16 countries around the world. The new package includes music beds and sounders for entertainment, news, and information shows, along with a dedicated track for the weekly chart countdown.

BFBS Deputy Director Sam Bailey said: “We were ready to refresh the sound of BFBS, and after a competitive pitch process, we were confident that TM Studios were the right partner to help us evolve our on-air branding. They not only created a fantastic set of music tracks but also worked with us on selecting new station voices and integrating them with the themes.”

TM Studios Chief Production Officer Chris Stevens added: “Both BFBS and TM share a long lineage of broadcasting and audio – in fact TM produced iconic jingle packages for BFBS back in the early 90s. We’re proud to be on air with The Forces Station and look forward to a long partnership.”

The new imaging also introduces station voices Debbie Mac and Rio Attoh-Wood, now heard across BFBS programming worldwide.

Jim first sang at PAMS in Dallas in the late 1950s, joining the pioneering jingle company at the height of its influence on radio imaging. By 1970, his tone had become a key part of the signature Dallas seven-voice group sound that would inspire generations of producers.

In the mid-1970s, Jim joined JAM Creative Productions, where he sang bass for more than 30 years and remained a constant presence through hundreds of sessions for stations around the world.

Beyond jingles, Jim’s passion for harmony led him to create and direct the Vocal Majority, a barbershop chorus that went on to earn multiple international awards and acclaim for its precision and warmth.

Those who worked with him remember his enthusiasm for four-part harmony and his spontaneous “barbershop tags” sung with colleagues between takes. His deep love of music and commitment to excellence left an enduring legacy both in radio and in the choral world.

Jim Clancy passed away on 16 April this year. He was 87.
