]]>Walters served his community and country in many capacities, most notably as a diplomat for the Jamaican Government, a Canadian federal public servant, and as founder and publisher of Ottawa’s Black-community newspaper, The Spectrum, for almost 30 years.
Walters was a lifelong advocate of Black and minority communities here in the Ottawa-Gatineau region; this included playing an instrumental role in the founding of several community organizations such as the West Indian Association of Ottawa, Black History Ottawa, National Council of Jamaican-Canadians, and the National Council of Visible Minorities.
We send our thoughts, prayers and condolences to his family and friends and the entire community.
