About The Challenge
The objective of this 2-day Hackathon is to spread the knowledge of Computer Science across our CUNY campuses, promote student participation, promote student collaboration, and promote student creativity. Students will get a chance to network and join teams. Students will build a project with their team, and there will be volunteers from many technical industries to lead workshops, and assist/mentor students. Students will be able to submit projects that contain code or project prototypes. The project will need to revolve around the common theme of social change. At the end of the Hackathon, students will have a project to add to their portfolio, will feel more comfortable working in a team environment, and will feel more comfortable presenting and articulating their work to others. Students of any major may participate.
ThemeThe theme of the hackathon is social change. Students may choose any technology field they wish for their project including but not limited to Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Web Development, Non-currency based blockchain (Solidity), etc.

ALL Projects must be original work!
Cybersecurity:
-
For your project to fall under the cybersecurity category it must improve the security of the user. Meaning it must provide a cybersecurity function, whether it is by providing cyber intelligence, vulnerability insights, network monitoring, etc.
-
You can use a library/framework to streamline some of the tasks for your project but the library/framework can’t be the project. Your project should consist predominantly of your original work
-
You’re free to choose offensive, defensive, or forensics but your project must tie into social change. You have the creative freedom to choose how it ties into social change.
-
For your project to be considered under this category your team must use Git to track your project changes as well push your final submission to Github.
Web Development/Software Engineering:
-
You can choose any language/framework of your liking
-
For your project to be considered under this category you must develop an application, e.g. a web application, desktop application, mobile application, etc.
-
These applications may be static if you’d like
-
A UI/UX design using Figma or related application doesn’t fall under this category
-

-
Participants are free to use any blockchain network (like Avalanche, Polygon, etc.) of their choice to deploy the dApp.
-
Developing a front end for the application and integrating it with smart contracts will add more value to your project.
-
Students can deploy the dApp in Testnet or Mainnet.
-
For your project to be considered under this category your team must use Git to track your project changes as well push your final submission to Github.
Most Innovative/Creative:
-
Example of a Route you can go for this category
-
