Prerequisites

  • Be an ambitious student eager to learn and challenge yourself

  • Have good teamwork/collaboration skills.

    • Basic understanding of computer networking

    • Basic knowledge of security principles

    • Basic knowledge of Python or any scripting language

    • Basic Knowledge of Git and GitHub

  • Web Development/Software Engineering:

    • Programming skills (in any language)

    • Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub

    • Basic knowledge of using IDE

    • Basic knowledge of building a front-end/back-end application

  • Blockchain:

    • Basic knowledge of Ethereum and Smart contracts

    • Basic knowledge of Solidity programming language and Remix IDE

    • Basic knowledge of building Decentralized Application

  • Most Innovative/Creative:

    • This category is designed with the goal that students that might not have the technical knowledge in the previous categories can still participate. We encourage creativity so we welcome any project that falls under the social change umbrella

Students from any school can participate, we just need their names, emails, and the school they attend.

Description: The top 2 teams submit a project that falls under social change and uses a web/mobile/desktop development programming language as its primary tool.

Blockchain (1st & 2nd) - NSF Sponsored

1st Prize: $725 (split amongst a team of 3)

2nd: $275 (split amongst a team of 3)

Description: The top 2 teams submit a project that falls under social change and uses solidity as its primary programming language.

Most Innovative/Creative (1st & Second)

Description: The top 2 teams to submit the most visually appealing and/or most creative project that doesn’t fall in any of the above three categories, and follows the grading guidelines below.

Hackathon Rules

  • All teams must consist of 3 students

  • All teams must confirm their RSVP before the hackathon —a reminder email will be sent out on to all teams to confirm their RSVP

    • All teams must submit their team name

    • To successfully confirm an RSVP all teams must submit a proposal

    • Note: only 1 person from each team should submit this RSVP and list the names of their team members.

    • Deadline to submit: April 27th, 11:59 AM EST

  • All teams must prepare a presentation as well as present them in front of the judges and participants

  • All teams must set up a GitHub repository to submit their project. (Exceptions apply. See the Submission Requirements section)

  • Attendance for both days is mandatory

  • The project can be coding-related or a prototype
