Hackathon Tracks
1. 404: Design Not Found (Make Bad UI/UX) — Code Track
This track celebrates the art of terrible design. Participants are challenged to intentionally create user experiences that defy logic, usability, and all good design principles — while still being technically functional. The goal is to explore how not to design, by exaggerating common UX mistakes in a humorous, creative way.
Problem Statements:
-
Open: Participants may freely design any intentionally flawed or confusing interface.
-
Bad Sign-Up Page/Form: Create a sign-up or registration form that is overly complicated, confusing, or unintuitive.
-
Password Reset Flow: Design a password reset process that frustrates the user at every step.
-
Bad Reminder/Alarm: Develop an alarm or reminder system that never quite works when or how it should.
2. Character Portfolio Websites — Code and No-Code Track
This track invites participants to step into the shoes of their favorite fictional or cartoon characters and imagine what their personal portfolio websites would look like. Whether coded from scratch or designed using no-code tools, the websites should reflect the character’s unique personality, quirks, and aesthetic — be it elegant, chaotic, or comically absurd.
Participants can use Figma, Framer, Webflow, or other platforms to design and build. Creativity, humor, and attention to detail in representing the chosen character will be key evaluation criteria.
3. Cursed Redesign Challenge — Code Track
In this track, participants are tasked with reimagining popular, well-loved applications — but in the most illogical, inefficient, or bizarre ways possible. The challenge lies in creating something technically sound yet completely misaligned with its original purpose or user experience principles.
Problem Statements:
-
Redesign Google Search: Make users take at least five clicks to find anything.
-
Reimagine Spotify: Design for people who hate music.
-
Turn LinkedIn into a Dating App: Merge professional networking with awkward romantic energy.
-
Open: Participants may redesign any existing digital product in a cursed or intentionally confusing manner.
