About Me
I am a researcher interested in applied research in IoT and robotic systems engineering, with background experience in the operations of underwater robots and other autonomous sensor systems for various marine application domains. These systems can be characterized by their autonomous operation, bidirectional connections, and data collection purposes.
The number of deployed devices operating autonomously in uncontrolled environments has increased sharply in recent years. My research focuses on real-time data-driven systems enabled by these devices, also known as IoT. In IoT, robotics systems can also be a type of node that remotely communicates data upstream and can be configured and/or controlled remotely.
More specifically, my work centers on integrating autonomous systems for seamless control and data provision across various operational scenarios at sea. It is currently expanding into space domain applications.
In parallel, I have accumulated experience in science outreach and communication enganing with distinct audiences that range from teenagers to the scientific community and industry technology managers (more details can be found here).

Institutes and Research Groups
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Space It UP! project at the Gran Sasso Science Institute in Italy. My work focuses on software engineering for space robotics systems.
I did my PhD at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), Bergen, Norway as part of the Software Engineering Group and the Centre for research-based innovation (SFI) Smart Ocean. I was supervised by Rogardt Heldal and Tosin Daniel Oyetoyan.
Previously, I was a researcher at Underwater Systems and Technology Laboratory (LSTS @ FEUP) - University of Porto and Institute of Systems and Robotics (ISR – Porto) in Porto, Portugal.
