March 18, 2026

Laurentian University will begin a gradual return to campus operations on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, with safety remaining our top priority. We are hopeful that a return to full operations will take place on Thursday, March 19.

Our crews have been prioritizing clearing areas that deliver activities that must take place in person on campus, such as labs, practica, and studio classes. These will be delivered in-person tomorrow, unless otherwise stated by the instructor. All other classes and academic activities will continue to be delivered online for Wednesday, March 18. The McEwen School of Architecture will be open, but parking will be limited due to snow accumulation.

The J.N. Desmarais Library and the Ben Avery Gym will reopen. Reduced hours may be necessary in the evenings depending on the availability of staff.

Laurentian staff will be expected to work tomorrow. Staff are encouraged to work from home where possible, with the permission of their supervisor. Staff essential to on-campus activities must report to campus as planned.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our dedicated staff in facilities, security, residence, food services, and many other departments who worked tirelessly throughout the storm to keep our community safe and supported. Their efforts to clear roads, maintain campus infrastructure, and provide services during these challenging conditions have been vital to our reopening.

Please note that despite the clearing efforts, a significant amount of snow remains on campus, which has resulted in reduced parking capacity.

Please allow yourself extra time for your commute tomorrow and continue to exercise caution as you travel. If you find that you are still unable to reach campus safely due to conditions in your specific neighbourhood, we ask that you contact your instructor or supervisor directly to discuss your situation.

We look forward to beginning this gradual return tomorrow and we thank you for your patience as we navigated this winter storm together.
