Give Choose 2026

GiveChoose 2026: Help Us Answer the Call, Again

Every day across Loudoun, our heroic First Responders answer the call whenever anyone of our neighbors or family members is in a crisis.

But who answers the call when our First Responders or their families need help?

That answer is the Loudoun First Responders Foundation.

The Loudoun First Responders Foundation is a 100% volunteer-led organization that provides financial assistance to career or volunteer members of Loudoun’s public safety agencies who experience an injury, hospitalization, or other crisis.

But the Loudoun First Responders Foundation can’t do this without your help.

Next week marks the start of GiveChoose, the annual online campaign to raise funds for Loudoun’s nonprofit community, including the Loudoun First Responders Foundation. This annual day of giving is your opportunity to say “Thank You” to the heroic women and men who serve and protect our Loudoun community.

Mark Your Calendar – Early Giving Opens: March 10, 2026

GiveChoose: March 24, 2026. Make donations any time between March 10 and March 24.

Help us reach our $10K goal for Loudoun's Heroic First Responders

The First Responders Foundation is setting a bold goal for GiveChoose 2026: $10,000.

This goal reflects the growing needs within our first responder community and the strength of the network that surrounds them. Your donation will be used to:

  • Provide rapid emergency financial assistance, often within 24 hours.
  • Support first responders and their families during times of injury, illness, or loss.
  • Award scholarships to Loudoun’s first responders and their children.

As a 100 percent volunteer-run organization funded entirely through donations and partnerships, every contribution goes directly toward making a meaningful difference.

Lansdowne, VA — The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 41st  Annual Loudoun County Valor Awards, taking place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at The National Conference Center in Lansdowne.

The event brings together Loudoun’s top business and community leaders to celebrate our honorees for their selfless acts of heroism and service.

“The annual Valor Awards remind us all that Loudoun’s security, prosperity, and world-class quality of life are built on the service and sacrifice of our heroic First Responders. The Loudoun Chamber is honored to have the opportunity to celebrate these real-life heroes for all they do to protect our families, neighbors, and communities,” said Tony Howard, President of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce.

LFRF Support Check

How LFRF Helps Our First Responders

The Loudoun First Responders Foundation is best known for delivering immediate financial support whenever one of Loudoun’s heroic First Responders are injured, hospitalized or sick.

  • When a First Responder’s HVAC system failed and financial pressures made repairs impossible, the First Responders Foundation arranged to install a new HVAC system.
  • When a First Responder suffered a severe leg injury while on vacation overseas, LFRF coordinated a business-class return flight so the leg could be properly supported and elevated during travel.
  • On multiple occasions, LFRF has covered housing expenses for parents who needed to stay close to their children during hospital treatment.

Our mission includes the words “in their time of need,” and we commit to the meaning of that mission as much as our First Responders commit to our community’s safety.

Quarterly Update

December 2025

This newsletter is dedicated to the Loudoun First Responders Foundation’s work to support the men and women of Loudoun’s law enforcement, fire, and rescue communities.

Make Your End-of-Year Donation to LFRF Today. Thank you!

End of Year Donations

As 2025 draws to a close, we’re reminded of the courage Loudoun’s first responders show on our community’s toughest days—and the generosity that lets us show up for them in return.

Thanks to your support, the Loudoun First Responders Foundation has helped first responders through line-of-duty injuries, illnesses and hardships. Your gifts are used to make mortgage payments, provide counseling and deliver support when it’s needed most.

As you consider your year-end giving, please make a special gift to the Loudoun First Responders Foundation and help us continue standing with the men and women who protect us every day.

LFRF Delivers Towers of Treats on National First Responders Day

The Loudoun First Responders Foundation continued its tradition of delivering towers of treats and goodies to every first responder facility in the county. Sheriff’s stations, Fire & Rescue, local police departments, the 911 call center—every place you can think of.

October 28 is National First Responders Day and LFRF board members spread out all over the county delivering towers of delicious goodies to brighten our first responders’ day.

Loudoun First Responder Foundation's 20th Anniversary Celebration

Hundreds of Loudoun’s First Responders, their families, and generous supporters of the Loudoun First Responders Foundation, including our Annual Partners, showed up for our 20th anniversary event.

Attendees feasted on deeeelicious barbecue provided by ResQ BBQ in Leesburg. Our DJ provided great sounds. Great raffle prizes were won. And, the weather was beautiful.

All of this was to celebrate our first two decades where we have given away over $1,000,000.00 in first responder support and more than $250,000.00 in scholarships. WOW!

How LFRF Helps Our First Responders

You might think that LFRF only helps our first responders when they are injured, hospitalized or sick. And you would be right. But we do so much more. For example:

We learned about a first responder whose HVAC system had died. Due to more pressing financial concerns there was no money to get it repaired. For a year this family used space heaters and window fans. LFRF arranged to have a new HVAC system installed.

Then there was the time a first responder had a terrible leg injury while on a vacation overseas. We arranged for a business-class return flight so that the leg could be supported on a raised footrest.

And on more than one occasion, LFRF has paid the housing bill for parents who needed to be nearby their children while undergoing hospital treatment.

Our mission statement includes the words “in their time of need.” We try to fulfill that goal every time we can.

It Wasn't a GRIND for LFRF

GRIND, the electric pop-up art show curated by artist Kevin Bednarz, showcased paintings, prints, and street art by local artists. The event was held on Saturday, November 8th, and part of the proceeds benefited the Loudoun First Responders Foundation. We appreciate Mr. Bednarz’s continued support.

Admission was free, and the show was family-friendly. GRIND featured local guest artists, music, complimentary appetizers, and cocktails, along with live art demonstrations and other on-site activations.

LFRF at Holiday Shopping & Festival of Trees at the Barn at Brambleton

The beautiful Barn at Brambleton hosted its 3rd annual Holiday Shopping Village and Festival of Trees! With over 80 artisans on display, this event featured the finest handcrafted gifts and artwork from all over the DMV. Hundreds of visitors found everything from stocking-stuffers to beautiful artwork.

The event included a raffle of some amazing decorated trees donated by our community raising thousands of dollars for our foundation. Thank you to everyone who attended and bought raffle tickets.

Longtime Supporter: Mission BBQ

For several years, Mission BBQ at the Denizen Plaza in Sterling has made the Loudoun First Responders Foundation the beneficiary of its cup sales.  When you purchase one of their reusable plastic drink cups, part of the proceeds goes to support LFRF. So drink up!

Thank you again, Mission BBQ for your continued support.

National First Responders Day October 28th

National First Responders Day is observed on October 28th, a day dedicated to honoring all the brave first responders across America who risk their lives to keep the rest of us safe.

America’s first responders represent the best of who we are as a people. They are the police officers and sheriff’s deputies who answer our calls, ready to help, no matter the situation. They are the firefighters running toward the flames to protect our communities.

They are emergency medical technicians, paramedics, 911 dispatchers, 988 crisis responders, and medical professionals, all who serve when a crisis occurs.

Our first responders are everyday heroes, and we invite you to join us in expressing our collective gratitude for their service.
