]]>The post Introducing Plans and Progress Reports appeared first on Libertarian Party.
]]>Most marketers get you to read their emails using clickbait or other manipulative techniques.
We will do neither thing.
This was pioneered by Perry Willis for the Libertarian Party in the 1990s. It had great success, and we expect it to do so again, especially when tied to the Parity Project. We want you to understand what the approach is and why you should value it.
Instead of fostering fear and hatred, we simply want to persuade you that the future can be better than the past.
We will do that by proposing specific plans. We will also report on the progress achieved by those plans. Thus the name, Plans & Progress Reports.
The Parity Project is our biggest plan, so we will mostly report on that. But we will also share every other positive thing that happens (and some negative ones too), including ballot access progress, media coverage, candidate recruitment, etc.
This means most of the emails we send you will contain good news.
We hope not.
That should mean we won’t need to expend lots of mental energy devising clever ways to manipulate you into opening and reading our messages.
We can instead devote that time and energy to achieving parity with the Democrats and Republicans within the next ten years. Toward that end, our messages will simply be titled Plans & Progress for “today’s date.”
You should open them! And read them! I’ll give you more reasons why below.
No. There will be other subjects, but Plans & Progress will predominate. And each P&P report will ask for donations, because money is what buys visibility, and visibility is what will discover, recruit, and mobilize the 30-60 million Americans who either self-identify as libertarian, or who have mostly libertarian views on the issues.
Discovering and recruiting those libertarians is how we will achieve
parity with the Democrats and Republicans within the next ten years, and parity is how we will achieve Operation Everwhere, making our ideas and candidates seen and heard by everyone, everywhere, every day.
Operation Everywhere will then cause massive persuasion, leading to Libertarian Party superiority. And when that happens, we win.
You win!
So you really ought to look at this differently…
Does this mean there’s no room for contributions of a volunteer nature? Not at all. We will still need lots of volunteers to be party leaders, candidates, petition gatherers, and much more besides. Not only that…
There will also be volunteer ways you can find new recruits for the Parity Project. We’ll be telling you exactly how to do that in the weeks and months ahead. Stay tuned! Speaking of which…
First, open every message we send you, even if you don’t read it. That prevents Google and Yahoo from shuffling our messages into promotional folders where they’ll never be seen. If you really want to make an important contribution as a volunteer, it doesn’t get any easier than that. It matters. So do it!
Second, as long as you’ve opened the message, read the damned thing. Most of them will be short bullet lists of progress points. It won’t take you much time. It’s also going to become important for you to talk to your friends and family about the Parity Project, even if they’re not libertarians. We’ll tell you why in future messages. But you can’t very well talk about something you don’t know much about. Stay informed! Open our Plans & Progress messages, and then read them!
Finally…
Do you know what happens when a major donor sees an organization receiving vast amounts of small donations? It fills them with confidence and inspires them to contribute large sums.
Back during the Project Archimedes era, one wealthy person who had been lurking and reading the Plans & Progress Reports gained enough enthusiasm from what he was seeing that he sent a major donation check. It was the first donation we had ever received from this person.
The Parity Project is underway, so the next message you receive from me will be a Plans & Progress Report. So get ready to rock and roll! Fuel the progress! DONATE!
With confidence that the future can be better than the past,
Steven Nekhaila

]]>The post From Parity to Superiority appeared first on Libertarian Party.
]]>We must make Libertarian ideas and candidates be seen and heard by everyone, everywhere, every day. Thus the name, Operation Everywhere.
Operation Everywhere will give the Libertarian Party superiority over the Democrats and Republicans. We think this because…
They either had to be natural libertarians because of their temperament, or they were persuaded into adopting libertarian positions. It’s probably a mixture of both, but to understand how Operation Everywhere will make us superior, let’s take a deeper look.
We know that many of the 30-60 million libertarians are just naturally that way, as a function of their psychology. That’s why the Nolan Chart quiz showed so many libertarians even back in the late 70s and early 80s, before there had been time for much persuasion to happen.
Back then, the Nolan Quiz had twenty questions, instead of the ten currently used by the World’s Smallest Political Quiz. Those extra questions made it harder to score libertarian, but lots of people still did. This still didn’t result in much growth because…
No one knew the word libertarian or what it meant. They couldn’t possibly think of themselves as libertarians, because the concept wasn’t part of their mental furniture. But now…
How did that happen?
It happened because forty years of small but steadily growing visibility taught millions of people what a libertarian is. That explains why so many studies find that millions of Americans now self-identify as libertarians. But two big questions remain…
Part of the answer is our fault. Most libertarians haven’t joined the LP because we haven’t bothered to ask them. We’ve been too busy fighting an endless array of trivial internal faction fights. That inner-directed focus has also prevented us from fixing the biggest problem of all…
We’ve had enough visibility over the past 50+ years for millions of people to learn the word libertarian, but not enough visibility to become a part of the national debate. That means we are largely irrelevant to the political contest, except as a spoiler. That stark reality causes even self-aware libertarians to vote defensively between the two major candidates, rather than for LP candidates. But it gets worse…
Even people who agree with us will decline to call themselves libertarians because we are not winners. But the problem we face is even deeper than that…
We don’t seem to make progress. You and I know that’s not really true. This series of messages has shown otherwise. But…
Our vote percentages constantly hover in the low single digits. That makes it appear that the public has evaluated us and found us wanting.
You and I know that a winner-takes-all voting system encourages defensive voting that favors a two-party system, but the average person doesn’t understand that. They think there must be something wrong with our philosophy, even though they mostly agree with it.
But we’ve also used this winner-takes-all problem as an excuse for our own incompetence. After all, the United Kingdom has four different parties represented in Parliament, and…
The answer is obvious, once you know it. The British parties all have universal visibility in their small country, while the LP is mostly invisible in vast America. So ask yourself the obvious question…
The Democrats and Republicans already have that. We will have it too when we equalize with them. That surely means we will start to win many elections. But is that all it means?
Doesn’t it stand to reason that we will move beyond merely discovering and recruiting the libertarians who already exist? Isn’t it inevitable that one impact of our visibility will be persuasive?
Remember the strategic equation: discovery before persuasion. Not discovery instead of persuasion, but discovery first, persuasion second. Discovery as a means to fuel persuasion.
Once we have equality, we will have universal visibility, and once we have that, we will start to persuade millions of additional people that the libertarian path lights the way to a better future.
If we can get to 30-60 million libertarians with almost no visibility, how many will there be when we achieve Operation Everywhere?
When we can make ourselves seen and heard by everyone, everywhere, every day, we will not just be equal, we will become superior.
If you want that to happen, then please donate to make it happen. Your contribution is our budget.
With a sincere belief that the future can be better than the past,
Steven Nekhaila

]]>The post Achieving Victory in Our Time appeared first on Libertarian Party.
]]>Today we are launching “Son of Archimedes,” as…
The Parity Project
The name proclaims the goal…
The Parity Project will equalize the Libertarian Party with the Democrats and Republicans in size, visibility, and electoral strength within the next ten years.
We will do this by…
The resources that already exist
30-60 million Americans either self-identify as libertarian or hold mostly libertarian positions on the issues. We know this from numerous studies and decades of Nolan Chart quizzes. These dormant libertarians represent untapped resources that already exist. We simply have to find and develop them.
Take yes for an answer
People who want to move in your direction are allies, not enemies. Invite them in. The longer they journey with us, the more libertarian they will become.
Discovery before persuasion
By discovering those who agree, we will gain the resources to persuade those who disagree. Please understand, this is not discovery instead of persuasion, but discovery before persuasion. Do discovery first, persuasion second. Discovery will provide the means for persuasion.
Become visible
The LP is largely invisible. We have tried to persuade the media to change that for us by covering us. It hasn’t worked. That means…
We must buy our visibility.
The Libertarian Party is a product like any other. We must make it visible in order to sell it. We need thousands and then millions of dollars in good-old-fashioned advertising. But there’s good news on this front…
Project Archimedes had only one effective advertising and recruitment tool – direct mail. Things are vastly better now. The Parity Project can use multiple advertising channels, including social networks and email. This purchased visibility will do the following things…
Sell the vision
The vision is a Libertarian Party as large, visible, and electorally successful as the Democrats and Republicans. Most people who self-identify as libertarian, or who have libertarian views, will want this, if only they can believe it’s possible.
Share one powerful fact
Informing dormant libertarians that they are not alone – that there are 30-60 million of them – offers hope that the vision is possible. That hope will inspire participation.
The crucial questions
Finding, recruiting, and mobilizing the dormant libertarians could be as simple as asking people two simple questions…
The three enticements
We’ll offer people who sign up regular progress updates, plus two special reports…
The Parity Project Algorithm
The progress reports mentioned above will be a crucial part of the Parity Project algorithm. We will equalize with the Democrats and Republicans by endlessly repeating a cycle of progress that spirals upward to our goal. We will constantly…
What about the new recruits who don’t donate?
Most will contribute something to the mission at some point, and every little bit will take us closer to our goal. Many will also become volunteers, candidates, and party leaders. Nearly all will become LP voters at some point, as our growing size and visibility make us a bigger part of the national contest.
We will send regular email reports about progress in the following areas…
But that’s not all…
Other good news will also happen organically because of this growth. It will become easier to gain ballot status with more people to provide and collect signatures. We might even grow large enough to successfully pressure state legislatures to pass sane ballot access laws. We will also have more candidates. Network effects will also grow as our new recruits spread the vision by word of mouth.
Do you want this?
We are doing list enhancements on more than a million prospect names we already own, including all registered LP voters. We will start contacting these prospects soon!
Email recruitment pitches and social network ads have been crafted.
We have money on hand to start buying visibility.
The progress is about to start flowing!
How fast do you want it to happen?
Provide the fuel. Donate or start (or increase) a monthly pledge today.
I look forward to bringing you an endless and ever-growing flood of positive Parity Project news!
The world is about to change. Be a part of that change.
With growing excitement,
Steven Nekhaila

]]>It’s not easy being a voice against the propaganda, fighting a rigged two-party system, and watching as the issues that plague America continue to grow despite our efforts to educate the masses and restrain government excess.
“Burn Out” is a constant issue for all of us. It’s hard to watch the same mistakes made, the budget balloon, the deficit increase, the War State expand, and the bureaucracy grow, all while our rights are stripped away. It can make us feel helpless.
While the Libertarian Party continues to grow and gain influence, local races are a way to see wins now. Fighting Big Government is a long-term goal, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have immediate victories, and in the last election cycle we won more than half the local races we participated in.
You can impact and win your local races. You can join our growing number of elected Libertarians and change your regional statutes. You can create opportunity, accountability, safety, freedom and appreciation where it matters most: where you live.
We will never stop fighting on the big issues. But don’t lose sight of what really matters in the face of Big Gov excess: YOU. Your family. Your community. Your town. LIBERTY IS LOCAL.
We all want to change the world. Just remember to start.
