GivingTuesday (December 2) is a global day of generosity that inspires people everywhere to give back to the causes they care about. This year, we invite you to celebrate by supporting your library—a place where curiosity grows.

The library is more than a building filled with books. It’s a safe, welcoming space where families connect, children discover new worlds, and lifelong learning begins. When you give, you’re not just making a donation; you’re igniting a love of reading and discovery that lasts a lifetime.

Here’s what that looks like:

“As a mom of a 1- and 3-year-old, the library has truly become one of our favourite places — and it’s changed our everyday life in the best ways. What started as a quick visit to pick up a few bedtime stories has turned into one of our most cherished weekly routines.

My kids light up as soon as we walk through the doors. They rush to shelves filled with books about dinosaurs, trucks, and animals — there’s always something new to discover. The colouring tables and toy area are perfect for little hands, giving them space to play, create, and learn.

We love that the library offers puzzles to borrow (a total lifesaver for rainy days!) and that there are books for every age and interest — from board books for my toddler to storybooks for my preschooler, and even novels and parenting reads for me.

It’s become more than just a place for books — it’s our little community hub, a calm and inspiring space where my kids’ love of learning and imagination grow every visit.” — A Library Family

Your GivingTuesday gift fuels programs like 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, hands-on digital literacy in our Makerspace, and robotics kits that teach kids to code. Every dollar helps spark curiosity and confidence—thank you for making it possible!

Donations can be made online or in-person at all branches. Tax receipts are available for gifts of $20 and up.

On Friday, October 24, Lincoln Pelham Public Library (LPPL) welcomed community members to the Fonthill Branch to celebrate the installation of new shelving and the launch of a $2.5 million fundraising campaign to renovate the nearly forty-year-old branch at its existing location at 43 Pelham Town Square in Fonthill.

Thanks to a generous lead gift from Pelham residents Paul and Bernadette Coyne, the Fonthill Branch will be renamed the Coyne Family Branch, honouring the family’s deep commitment to learning, connection, and community.

“It’s a great thing because it helps people who want to educate themselves—the young, the old, people with disabilities, academic types, anybody who is self-motivated,” said Paul Coyne. “I can’t think of a better place to start than the library.”

Pelham Regional Councillor Wayne Olson and local author and longtime library volunteer Yvonne Van Lankveld will serve as co-chairs on The Next Chapter campaign cabinet.

The renovation will unfold in two phases:

  • Phase One ($1.5M – slated for spring 2026, and fully funded by the Town of Pelham) will introduce a new accessible entrance, an expanded program room, and upgraded AODA-compliant restrooms.
  • Phase Two ($2.5M – fundraising underway) will transform the main floor layout, add a passenger elevator for barrier-free access to the basement, and revitalize the lower level with meeting rooms, staff spaces, and dedicated local history storage.

Thanks to the generosity of early donors, the Next Chapter campaign has a revised fundraising goal of $1.7 million. Learn more and donate today: lppl.ca/fonthillreno.
