Tahsis Firehall Relocation Project

Makon successfully converted an existing school building into a community fire hall, complete with the structural upgrades required for a post-disaster facility. By separating a 4,700 sq.ft. wing from the main structure, our team created a stand-alone hall while managing all aspects of construction in a remote Vancouver Island location.

VIU Shq’apthut Project

Shq’apthut (A Gathering Place) is a space where cultural, academic, recreational, and social activities are promoted and celebrated for Indigenous students. The extended Shq’apthut building added additional ceremonial space aiming to enrich the educational journey of both indigenous and non-indigenous students at Vancouver Island University (VIU). It also provided the Elders with the necessary space to conduct their work. It also offers Elders the necessary space to conduct their work. Makon Projects was selected as the general contractor to oversee the expansion, which added 2,750 square feet of new ceremonial spaces, offices, and accessible washrooms.

Neck Point Park Washroom 

Aiming to significantly enhance the park’s accessibility and overall visitor experience, Makon successfully completed the construction of a new public washroom building, outdoor showers, walkways, and comprehensive landscaping at Neck Point Park. These improvements are designed to provide greater convenience, comfort, and enjoyment for park-goers, ensuring a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

Portsmouth Office 

Located in Nanaimo, this tenant improvement showcases Makon’s expertise, craftsmanship, and commitment to excellence. Working in collaboration with Ivory Design Co., Makon transformed an empty shell into a functional and inspiring office space, seamlessly blending custom design with innovative construction techniques. From the choice of materials to the thoughtful integration of design elements, every detail reflects our dedication to quality. The result is a beautifully crafted space that serves as both our headquarters and a testament to our unwavering focus on creating visually compelling, efficient environments that represent who we are.

Ladysmith Motorsports Commercial Renovation

Makon managed the renovation of this active motorsports retail building while the existing building was occupied and open to clients for business. The project included structural upgrades for openings in the exterior walls for new overhead doors, a redesign of the interior for new offices, and expansion of the showroom. Makon was the project manager working with the owner, design team and consultants through a pre-construction phase to create the design and project budget. Once these were approved, Makon then managed the construction phase.

Parksville Community Park Washroom

Makon led the construction of a public washroom building as part of a major community park upgrade. The City of Parksville engaged a landscape architect and project consultant to facilitate construction, who communicated directly with Makon to bring the project vision to fruition.

Sunrise Ridge Resort Phases 6–15

Spanning 10 phases and comprising a total of 64 units, Makon served as the General Contractor for this multi-residential development at an active oceanside resort in Parksville. This project reflects Makon’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and meticulous planning. Key features include wood-frame building construction with durable metal roofing, custom interior finishes, and thoughtfully designed landscaping and hardscaping. The development also incorporates expertly paved roads and pathways, offering a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics. Additionally, Makon provided construction management services for all underground civil infrastructure, ensuring the project’s success from the ground up.
