From March 9-13, 2026, MARBLE researchers visited NTNU’s AURLab in Trondheim, Norway, to participate in the MORE – Maritime Organizational Robotics Environment Workshop, a joint initiative aimed at advancing collaboration in maritime robotics and digital twin technologies.

Held on March 11, the workshop brought together researchers from both institutions to present and discuss the MORE framework, which seeks to address a key challenge in maritime robotics: the fragmentation of systems and intelligence across platforms and organizations. The initiative focuses on developing a unified, modular, and vendor-agnostic architecture enabling interoperable multi-vehicle operations and seamless integration from simulation to real-world deployment.

The agenda included a series of technical sessions covering vehicle systems, sensor modelling, perception and dataset generation, mission planning, and simulation-based training, including a demonstration of MARUS-based ROV pilot simulation. The workshop concluded with a joint discussion session, fostering exchange of ideas and identifying future collaboration opportunities .

Beyond the workshop itself, the visit provided the MARBLE team with valuable insight into NTNU AURLab’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, experimental facilities, and operational best practices. As one of Europe’s leading research environments in marine robotics, NTNU offered a strong benchmark for advancing MARBLE’s own capabilities in digital twins, autonomous systems, and integrated maritime operations.

The visit further strengthened the partnership between MARBLE and NTNU, laying the groundwork for continued collaboration in research, innovation, and joint project development within the rapidly evolving field of maritime robotics.
