Surrey, BC – June 1, 2025

“You couldn’t script this!” , what a thriller we witnessed in the 2025 BCMCL Regular Season – Third Division clash between Surrey Stars III and Ahmadiyya I at West Newton. It was a match that had it all — collapses, comebacks, cool heads under pressure, and a nail-biting finish where Ahmadiyya I scraped home by just 1 wicket with 2 balls to spare.

Live exclusively on Matchvue, this was grassroots cricket at its finest — and for those who watched it live on the Matchvue Android app, you experienced something unforgettable.

Surrey Stars Bat First – A Gritty, Grinding Effort

Put into bat, Surrey Stars III posted a modest 159 in 44.3 overs. The innings was a tale of mini partnerships and missed opportunities. Bhavik Chhatbar stood out with a composed 33 (57), anchoring the middle overs with resilience. Lower down, Sanyam Preet Singh (21) and Daksh Patel (13) provided crucial runs that pushed the total towards respectability. Extras — a whopping 35 runs — played a major role in keeping the scoreboard ticking.

For Ahmadiyya, it was a bowling masterclass. Sultan Ahmed was clinical with 3 wickets for just 12 runs in 9 overs, including five maidens. Waqar Ahmad and Tahir Malik chipped in with two wickets each, keeping the Surrey batters in check.

Ahmadiyya’s Chase – Collapse, Comeback, and Chaos

Chasing 160, Ahmadiyya I had a horror start, losing two wickets with just 11 on the board. Surrey’s bowlers, especially Bhavik Chhatbar and Faizan Mansuri, were relentless, picking up wickets at regular intervals. At 121 for 9, with the match seemingly in Surrey’s pocket, Fida Gill (25 not out) and Haroon Bajwa (11 not out) stepped up with nerves of steel.

Facing a sharp Surrey attack, the pair stitched together an unbeaten 39-run partnership, taking the game deep into the final over. It was Gill who sealed it with calm finishing, guiding Ahmadiyya I to a historic 1-wicket win with 2 balls left.

History Made: Nitin Sondhi Smashes Highest Individual Score in BCMCL History

In the long and storied legacy of the British Columbia Mainland Cricket League (BCMCL), few performances have stood out quite like this one. On August 9, 2014, in a Division 4 regular season match between Newton Surrey II and Ahmadiyya Cricket Club II, a record was etched into the books that remains unmatched to this day.

Nitin Sondhi, opening the batting for Newton Surrey II, delivered a marathon performance that defied expectations, logic, and cricketing convention. In a stunning display of skill, concentration, and sheer determination, Sondhi scored 258 runs off 258 balls, anchoring his team to an extraordinary total of 489 for 5 in 45 overs.

This innings stands tall as the highest ever individual score in BCMCL history—a monumental feat that still resonates across the Lower Mainland cricket community, more than a decade later.

 A Wall of Runs

The numbers themselves are staggering. Facing exactly as many deliveries as his final run tally, Sondhi demonstrated remarkable consistency and patience. But this was no slow grind—his knock included 22 fours and 21 sixes, which accounted for 210 runs just in boundaries. The rest were the result of sharp running and relentless stamina, an aspect often underappreciated in innings of this scale.

What’s even more striking is the context: Newton Surrey II was playing in a 40-over league match. However, due to rain delays earlier in the season and adjusted conditions, the match had been allotted 45 overs per side. Even then, to score nearly 500 runs in a limited-overs format is a feat of its own. Sondhi’s contribution alone made up more than half of the team’s runs.

 Total Dominance

Newton Surrey II’s 489/5 remains one of the highest team scores ever recorded in BCMCL. The opposition, Ahmadiyya Cricket Club II, were never in the hunt. Chasing a mountain of runs, they were bundled out for 56 runs in 16.2 overs, handing Newton Surrey II a mammoth 433-run victory.

This margin of victory is among the largest in league history and underscores the complete dominance Newton Surrey II asserted that day.

 A Legacy Performance

Records in league cricket don’t just represent milestones—they tell stories. And Nitin Sondhi’s 258 is more than just a number; it’s a tale of unwavering focus, boundary-hitting brilliance, and a player rising to an occasion that few could have foreseen.

For young cricketers in the BCMCL circuit, this innings serves as inspiration. It proves that opportunities to create history exist at every level of the game. You don’t have to be on a national squad or playing under stadium lights—sometimes, all it takes is one day, one bat, and one mind determined to push limits.

 Matchvue’s Take

At Matchvue, we celebrate performances that define moments, rewrite history, and energize the future of cricket in Canada. This story from 2014 may be over ten years old, but its impact is timeless. In an era where cricket is growing across B.C., such legendary performances build the foundation for tomorrow’s stars.

As Matchvue continues to bring live streaming, coverage, and digital storytelling to grassroots and elite-level cricket across Canada, we remain committed to honoring and preserving records like these.

Congratulations once again to Nitin Sondhi—the man behind the highest individual innings ever in BCMCL.

Newton, BC – May 25, 2025
It was one of those days at Newton Athletic Park where the crowd wasn’t sure whether to watch the game or just keep their eyes on Aryan Sidhu’s bat — because frankly, that thing was doing all the talking.

In Match 2022 of the 2025 BCMCL Premier Division, streamed live on Matchvue, Pakcan I chased down a target of 225 with just the right mix of chaos, composure, and comedy, defeating Surrey Hawks II by 4 wickets — and more importantly, with 9.1 overs to spare and plenty of popcorn-worthy moments for the viewers.

Surrey Hawks II: Started Like a Rocket, Landed Like a Kite
The Hawks walked out to bat looking sharp — hair gelled, shirts tucked, confidence high. Rajesh Kumar decided it was “powerplay, not prayer time” and launched a blistering 44 off 29 balls, while Vishal Manhas showed he’s got the muscle, smacking 63 off 56, including 6 sixes. We’re not saying Matchvue’s drone camera flinched, but it definitely looked nervous.

At 171 for 4, the Hawks seemed on course for 260+, but then came the legendary middle-order wobble. Rajan Didhra, apparently allergic to runs, took 9 balls to score none. Manjit S Guraya, the skipper, took one ball to do the same, probably just to show solidarity.

They folded for 224 in 47.3 overs, leaving fans wondering if the team bus had somewhere to be.

But let’s not take anything away from Amit-Nikhil Deora, who bowled like he was double-parked — 4 wickets for 47 runs in 7.3 overs. He even got a run-out assist. Someone get this guy a samosa.

Pakcan I Innings: Aryan Sidhu Enters the Chat
Chasing 225, Pakcan I decided to test the nerves of their fans and give Hawks II a false sense of hope. They lost three wickets for 32 runs. Most batters came, saw, and promptly left — including Inder Mohan, who got out for a duck that might sue for defamation.

Then walked in Aryan Sidhu — or as Matchvue viewers started calling him, “The Run Machine in Human Form.”
What followed was a masterclass in controlled carnage:

118 runs off 115 balls

Just 2 fours, but 9 sixes — because clearly, boundaries are too mainstream.

His strike rate? A breezy 102.61. His style? Street meets stadium.

While others poked and prodded, Aryan just launched. Surrey Hawks bowlers started looking up before they even appealed — just in case the ball was still flying.

A Little Drama for Flavor
Even with Aryan doing most of the work, there was room for drama.
At 202 for 6, with Aryan gone and pressure building, Zeeshan Wahla Muhammad walked in like he had a dinner reservation.
With 31 not out off 26 balls, and three crunching sixes, Zeeshan sealed the game and probably earned Aryan’s friendship for life.

Bloopers, Brilliance, and Banter — All on Matchvue
Matchvue’s cameras caught it all — the sixes, the collapses, the reactions, and the mini huddle therapy sessions after every misfield. Surrey Hawks went from threatening to thoughtful in about 10 overs.

Final Word: A Match Made for the Reels
This wasn’t just a match. It was content. TikTok-worthy moments, Instagrammable shots, and enough drama to get its own documentary on Matchvue Originals (not yet a thing, but it should be).

Pakcan I finished at 225/6 in 40.5 overs, and we imagine they’re still celebrating Aryan somewhere on 80th Avenue.

If you missed it live — don’t worry. Catch the replay, highlights, and player interviews on www.Matchvue.com, where every match isn’t just watched… it’s remembered. #matchvue #bcmcl #pakcancricket #SurreyHawks #cricket #ipl2025 – Goldie Dhillon

Newton, BC – May 24, 2025
Richmond I delivered a commanding performance to defeat Newton Surrey I by 63 runs in Match 2171 of the 2025 BCMCL Regular Season – Elite Division. The match, played at Newton Athletic Park East and broadcast live on Matchvue, showcased disciplined batting, clinical bowling, and a crucial middle-order stand that secured Richmond’s victory.

Richmond I Set a Competitive Target

Batting first after winning the toss, Richmond I posted 189 for 8 in 50 overs, anchoring their innings around a composed 51 from Wageesha Wanniarachchi and a dynamic unbeaten 65 by Harmandeep Bahia, who struck three fours and three sixes at a strike rate above 100.

The innings started cautiously, with opener Charankamal Jit Sandhu scoring 25 off 63 deliveries before falling to a catch off Jordan Mathews. Harmeet Singh and Sourav Sharma fell cheaply, but a 43-run stand between Wageesha and Bahia provided much-needed momentum. Despite regular wickets in the middle order, Bahia’s aggressive stroke play pushed Richmond past 180.

Among Newton Surrey’s bowlers, Jordan Mathews led the attack with 3 wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs, while Karanveer Sandhu chipped in with two wickets. Nikhil Singh’s spell was notably economical, conceding just 25 runs and taking a wicket in his 10 overs.

Newton Surrey I Collapse in Response

In pursuit of 190, Newton Surrey I faltered early, losing both openers with just 13 runs on the board. A devastating new-ball spell from Muhammad Ali Khan and Harmandeep Bahia put the Richmond bowlers on top. Despite a valiant knock of 88 from captain Udaybir Singh Walia, who hit 9 sixes and scored at a strike rate of 90, the rest of the Newton Surrey batting lineup collapsed under pressure.

No other batter reached double figures apart from Karanveer Sandhu (6) and Akash Brar (3), as wickets fell steadily. Richmond’s bowlers were relentless, with Sana Kaleem and Sourav Sharma each taking 2 wickets and Parmeshwar Parmar claiming one. The innings ended at 126 all out in 38.1 overs, 63 runs short of the target.

Bowling Excellence from Richmond

Richmond’s bowlers shared the spoils, with all six used bowlers contributing wickets. Muhammad Ali Khan’s miserly spell of 9 overs, 2 maidens, 15 runs, and 2 wickets set the tone. Harmandeep Bahia’s 2 for 24 and Sourav Sharma’s late double-strike sealed the win.

Match Highlights

  • Wageesha Wanniarachchi: 51 (82), steadying the top order.
  • Harmandeep Bahia: 65* (61) & 2 wickets – match-winning all-round performance.
  • Udaybir Singh Walia: 88 (97), a lone warrior for Newton Surrey I.
  • Jordan Mathews: 3/33, leading Newton Surrey’s bowling effort.
  • Muhammad Ali Khan: 2/15 in 9 overs, pivotal with the new ball.

Ind-Can Triumphs in Tight Chase Against Surrey Hawks I – Wins by 3 Wickets

Surrey, BC – May 4, 2025:
In a thrilling Elite Division match of the 2025 BCMCL Regular Season held at Newton Athletic East Ground, Ind-Can Cricket Club emerged victorious over Surrey Hawks I by 3 wickets in a low-scoring encounter. The match was streamed live and exclusively on Matchvue, continuing its dedicated coverage of grassroots cricket across British Columbia.

Surrey Hawks I Struggle to Capitalize After Strong Start

Opting to bat first, Surrey Hawks I were bowled out for 145 in 39 overs, with their innings marked by several starts but no significant partnerships. Uday Bhagwan Singh (40 off 47) was the standout performer with the bat, while Jaipreet Singh contributed a patient 32 off 82 balls. However, the middle and lower order collapsed under sustained pressure from Ind-Can’s disciplined bowling unit.

Ind-Can’s bowlers were exceptional, with Shiva Kulkarni leading the attack by claiming 3 wickets for just 10 runs in 6 overs. Sanjay Gurmukhani supported effectively with 3 for 38, while Tilak Raj Raj and Bikramjeet Singh Aulakh took one wicket each. The fielding unit also chipped in with two key run-outs that helped halt Surrey Hawks I’s progress.

Gurmukhani Anchors Ind-Can Chase

In response, Ind-Can’s innings began with early setbacks as they were reduced to 11 for 3 within the first 7 overs. However, Sanjay Gurmukhani stood firm under pressure, playing a match-winning knock of 72 off 74 balls, including 3 fours and 7 sixes, anchoring the chase and keeping the scoreboard ticking.

Despite a few more hiccups in the middle order, a composed 24 not out from Jashnoor Aulakh and a crucial stand with tail-ender Bikramjeet Singh Aulakh ensured Ind-Can crossed the finish line in just 31 overs, finishing at 146/7.

Surrey Hawks I’s bowling efforts were commendable. Uday Bhagwan Singh again starred with the ball, taking 2 for 23 in 8 overs, supported by Karandeep Singh who picked up 2 wickets as well.
