EltaMD has launched a powerful sunscreen that delivers hydration while protecting the skin barrier. This advanced formulation provides a different range of shades inclusive of darker skin tones, making it a versatile option for all. Specifically formulated with hyaluronic acid, it is designed for mature, dehydrated skin while assisting in the prevention of fine lines and wrinkles.

Other key ingredients include zinc oxide, tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E), and an invisible blend technology with iron oxides. Unlike many other sunscreens, this formulation does not leave a white cast, ensuring a seamless application across all skin types.

This tinted sunscreen can be used daily to protect delicate skin from both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays. Unlike traditional sunscreens that may cause flakiness, EltaMD’s formula helps retain moisture and skin suppleness. What makes this sunscreen especially unique is its versatility—it can be worn comfortably under makeup or on its own.

Research shows that 91% of people agreed it blends right into the skin, 90% agreed it does not irritate their skin, and 92% agreed it leaves their skin hydrated immediately after use.

A new product has hit the market from one of the most scientific, clean skincare companies. Hydrinity has launched a one-of-a-kind retinal that is tolerated by all skin types. Retaxome is a Daily Retinal Hydrator that is setting a new gold standard in regenerative retinoid therapy. What makes Retaxome different is the way that it is delivered—encapsulated in an exosome, the delivery of the retinal is of a much greater potency. This allows for faster results and precise delivery while lessening the risk of irritation.

Another thing that makes Retaxome unique is the triple-action innovation that Hydrinity has developed. The biometric exosome infused with retinal enables precise cell-to-cell communication. The deeper delivery of the product, up to 20x deeper, allows you to get the results you are looking for quickly when used consistently. The retinal in this product is considered highly tolerable and indicated for nightly use from day one, while other retinal products require acclimation.

The last ingredient in Retaxome that makes it extremely tolerable and efficient is the supercharged HA in the product. It is formulated with 100% injectable-grade dual-weight hyaluronic acid. This allows for deep hydration to balance the skin and prevent unwanted reactions. In a recent multi-center open enrollment study, 100% of patients said Retaxome did not cause their skin to be irritated, red, or inflamed. 95% of patients said they were able to use the product when they were previously unable to tolerate other retinoid products. Studies also show a 44% increase in skin hydration from baseline at 2 weeks.

Why I Love Hydrinity https://melamedspa.com/hydrinity/why-i-love-hydrinity/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=why-i-love-hydrinity https://melamedspa.com/hydrinity/why-i-love-hydrinity/#respond Thu, 02 Oct 2025 19:32:06 +0000 https://melamedspa.com/?p=1130

Hydrinity has quickly become one of my favorite skincare lines. It combines science-backed ingredients with an advanced delivery system that has transformed my skin. Hydrinity uses injectable-grade hyaluronic acid (HA) paired with six vegan-derived polypeptides. This means that not only can the products hydrate on the surface with HA, but they also stimulate collagen, elastin, and keratinocytes deeper in the skin to improve long-term skin health.

Kakadu plum brightens and protects. Ginger root extract calms redness and soothes inflammation. Algae extract hydrates and defends against environmental stress. Hexapeptide extract stimulates collagen production to soften fine lines. Squalane helps restore the skin barrier. Bisabolol calms itching, provides antibacterial benefits, protects against free radicals, and quiets inflammation. This technology was originally created to help with wound healing in oncology patients, and the results were so impressive that it found its way into the aesthetic world.

One of the things I love most about Hydrinity is the simplicity. You don’t need a 10-step skincare routine to see results. The foundation is cleanse, tone, and hydrate morning and night. In the morning, add a brightener and vitamin C; at night, swap your hydrate for a retinal. That’s it. You can even combine the brightener, vitamin C, and HA in the morning if you like to keep things minimal.

For extra support, the eye serum can be used both AM and PM, the Lux Lip hydrator is perfect to keep on hand throughout the day, and the Encore body hydrator adds lasting moisture anywhere you need it.

Each product really deserves to have its own highlight, but I will just keep it to my two favorites—Prelude and Hyacyn Mist. Prelude uses antioxidants, humectants, emollients, and light exfoliants to help reduce breakouts and calm irritation. You can use this as a quick cleanser or leave it on for 20 minutes to work as a mask.

Hyacyn Mist is more than just your everyday toner. Three spritzes across your face helps calm inflammation, support barrier health, and encourage collagen production. The best part is it is safe to use on kids for hand hygiene and minor scrapes and skin irritations. I keep one at home and one in my purse!

Hydrinity is proof that skincare doesn’t need to be complicated to be effective. With its clean formulations and advanced technology, it bridges the gap between medical-grade performance and everyday simplicity. Not only do I personally use these products every day, but I also recommend them to all my friends and family.

Sun Damage and Aging: How UV Exposure Accelerates the Aging Process and What You Can Do About It https://melamedspa.com/skincare/sun-damage-and-aging-how-uv-exposure-accelerates-the-aging-process-and-what-you-can-do-about-it/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=sun-damage-and-aging-how-uv-exposure-accelerates-the-aging-process-and-what-you-can-do-about-it https://melamedspa.com/skincare/sun-damage-and-aging-how-uv-exposure-accelerates-the-aging-process-and-what-you-can-do-about-it/#respond Thu, 29 Aug 2024 23:31:08 +0000 https://melamedspa.com/?p=591

When it comes to skin health and aging, the sun is both a friend and a foe. While sunlight is essential for synthesizing Vitamin D, excessive and unprotected exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays can accelerate the aging process and lead to a host of skin issues. At our medical spa, we understand the profound impact that sun damage can have on your skin’s appearance and health. Here’s how sun damage contributes to premature aging and what you can do to protect and rejuvenate your skin.

Protecting Your Skin from Sun Damage

Apply Sunscreen Daily:
The cornerstone of sun protection is regular sunscreen application. Choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and apply it generously to all exposed areas of the skin. Reapply every two hours, or more frequently if swimming or sweating. Sunscreen helps shield your skin from harmful UV rays and prevents further damage.

Seek Shade, wear Sunscreen and Wear Protective Clothing:
Minimize your sun exposure by seeking shade during peak sunlight hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Wearing protective clothing, such as wide-brimmed hats, sunglasses with UV protection, and long-sleeved shirts, can also help shield your skin.

Incorporate Antioxidants into Your Skincare Routine:
Antioxidants, such as Vitamin C and E, can help combat the oxidative stress caused by UV exposure. Incorporate serums and creams with these ingredients into your daily routine to help neutralize free radicals and support skin repair.

Get Regular Skin Checkups:
Regular skin checkups with a dermatologist can help monitor for any early signs of sun damage or skin abnormalities. Early detection of skin changes or potential issues is essential for maintaining skin health and addressing any concerns promptly.

Revitalizing Sun-Damaged Skin: Our Medical Spa Solutions
At our medical spa, we offer a range of advanced treatments designed to reverse and mitigate the effects of sun damage. Here are some options to consider:

Laser Skin Resurfacing:
Laser skin resurfacing treatments can target sunspots, wrinkles, and uneven texture. By stimulating collagen production and removing damaged skin layers, this procedure helps to improve skin tone and texture, revealing a healthier, more youthful appearance.

Chemical Peels:
Chemical peels exfoliate the outer layers of skin, addressing issues like hyperpigmentation, rough texture, and fine lines. Our medical-grade peels can help brighten the complexion and promote cell turnover for a rejuvenated look.

Microneedling:
Microneedling involves creating micro-injuries in the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production. This treatment can improve skin texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines, and enhance overall skin quality, making it an excellent option for reversing sun damage.

Photofacial Treatments:
Photofacial treatments use intense pulsed light (IPL) to target pigmentation and redness caused by sun damage. These treatments can help reduce the appearance of age spots, redness, and broken capillaries, resulting in a more even skin tone.

Protect and Rejuvenate Your Skin
Sun damage is a significant factor in premature aging, but with the right approach, you can protect your skin and address existing damage. At our medical spa, we are dedicated to helping you achieve healthy, radiant skin through comprehensive sun protection strategies and advanced treatments.

Ready to take action against sun damage and rejuvenate your skin? Contact us today to schedule a consultation and discover the best solutions for your skin health and beauty needs. Let us help you restore your skin’s natural glow and vitality, so you can enjoy a youthful, radiant complexion for years to come.

Navigating Neurotoxin Resistance Post-COVID: What You Need to Know https://melamedspa.com/neurotoxin/navigating-neurotoxin-resistance-post-covid-what-you-need-to-know/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=navigating-neurotoxin-resistance-post-covid-what-you-need-to-know https://melamedspa.com/neurotoxin/navigating-neurotoxin-resistance-post-covid-what-you-need-to-know/#respond Thu, 29 Aug 2024 23:13:37 +0000 https://melamedspa.com/?p=581

The COVID-19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on nearly every aspect of our lives, including our health and wellness routines. One of the more surprising challenges that some individuals are facing is neurotoxin resistance. This phenomenon, although still under research, is becoming a notable concern for those who use neurotoxins for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes, such as Botox. Here’s what you need to know about neurotoxin resistance in the post-COVID era and how it might impact your aesthetic and medical treatments.

Understanding Neurotoxins
Neurotoxins like Botox (botulinum toxin type A) are widely used in both cosmetic and medical treatments. In cosmetics, they are employed to reduce wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily paralyzing facial muscles. Medically, they can treat conditions such as chronic migraines, excessive sweating, and muscle spasms. These neurotoxins work by blocking nerve signals to the muscles, leading to reduced muscle activity.

What Is Neurotoxin Resistance?
Neurotoxin resistance occurs when the body develops antibodies against the neurotoxin, reducing its effectiveness over time. This can result in diminished results from treatments that once worked well. Several factors contribute to the development of resistance, including:

  • Frequent Use: Repeated exposure to neurotoxins can lead to antibody formation, especially if treatments are not spaced out properly.
  • Individual Variability: Some individuals are more prone to developing resistance due to their immune system’s response.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Neurotoxin Resistance

Recent observations suggest that the COVID-19 pandemic may have inadvertently influenced the development of neurotoxin resistance in some individuals. Here’s how:

  1. Increased Use of Neurotoxins During Lockdowns: During lockdowns, many people turned to cosmetic procedures as a way to manage stress or improve their appearance while staying home. The increased frequency of treatments during this period could have contributed to a higher incidence of resistance.
  2. Changes in Immune Function: COVID-19 and its associated treatments have been shown to affect immune system functioning. Some studies suggest that the virus and the body’s response to it might alter immune responses, potentially influencing how the body reacts to neurotoxins.
  3. Impact of COVID-19 Vaccines: Vaccines have been crucial in combating COVID-19, but they also prompt immune responses. Although direct links between COVID-19 vaccines and neurotoxin resistance are still being studied, the possibility of an altered immune response may impact how neurotoxins are processed in the body.

What This Means for You

If you’ve noticed a decrease in the effectiveness of your neurotoxin treatments, or if you’re concerned about developing resistance, here’s what you can do:

  • Consult with Your Practitioner: A detailed discussion with your aesthetic or medical practitioner can help assess whether resistance might be a factor. They may suggest adjusting the treatment plan or exploring alternative brands or options.
  • Consider Treatment Intervals: Allowing more time between neurotoxin treatments might reduce the likelihood of developing resistance. Your practitioner can help design a schedule that balances efficacy and safety.
  • Explore Alternative Therapies: If resistance becomes a significant issue, other cosmetic or medical treatments may be considered. For instance, alternative wrinkle treatments like dermal fillers or newer neurotoxin formulations could be explored.
  • Monitor and Adapt: Stay informed about new research on neurotoxin resistance and be proactive about adapting your treatment plan as needed. Keeping up-to-date with emerging trends and data can help you make the best choices for your health and aesthetic goals.

Looking Ahead

The COVID-19 pandemic has introduced complexities into many areas of health, including the field of aesthetic medicine. While neurotoxin resistance is a relatively new concern, ongoing research will provide more clarity on its causes and solutions.

In the meantime, maintaining open communication with your healthcare provider and staying informed about new developments will help you navigate these challenges effectively.

Maximizing Your Results: The Synergy Between Medical Grade Skincare and Medical Aesthetic Treatments https://melamedspa.com/aesthetic-treatments/maximizing-your-results-the-synergy-between-medical-grade-skincare-and-medical-aesthetic-treatments/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=maximizing-your-results-the-synergy-between-medical-grade-skincare-and-medical-aesthetic-treatments https://melamedspa.com/aesthetic-treatments/maximizing-your-results-the-synergy-between-medical-grade-skincare-and-medical-aesthetic-treatments/#respond Thu, 29 Aug 2024 22:59:30 +0000 https://melamedspa.com/?p=574

In the pursuit of radiant, healthy skin, the integration of medical grade skincare products with professional aesthetic treatments can yield transformative results. While aesthetic treatments such as chemical peels, laser therapies, and injectables target specific concerns and provide visible improvements, incorporating medical grade skincare into your daily routine enhances these benefits and promotes long-term skin health. Let’s explore how the synergy between medical grade skincare and aesthetic treatments can elevate your skincare regimen to the next level. Medical grade skincare products are formulated with higher concentrations of active ingredients, such as antioxidants, peptides, retinoids, and growth factors, which are scientifically proven to address specific skin concerns effectively. When used in conjunction with aesthetic treatments, these products work synergistically to:

Enhance Treatment Outcomes: Preparing your skin with targeted skincare can optimize the results of aesthetic procedures by improving skin texture, tone, and resilience. For instance, using a retinol or vitamin C serum prior to a chemical peel can enhance exfoliation and boost collagen production, resulting in smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Support Skin Healing: Post-treatment care is crucial for minimizing downtime and promoting healing. Medical grade skincare products containing soothing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides can help restore the skin barrier, reduce inflammation, and accelerate recovery after procedures such as laser treatments or microneedling.

Unlike over-the-counter products, medical grade skincare is meticulously formulated to address various dermatological concerns, including:

Anti-Aging: Ingredients like retinoids, peptides, and growth factors stimulate collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Hyperpigmentation: Products containing hydroquinone, kojic acid, or botanical extracts (e.g., licorice root, arbutin) can effectively lighten dark spots and even out skin tone.

Acne and Blemishes: Salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and sulfur are commonly found in medical grade skincare to unclog pores, reduce inflammation, and prevent breakouts.

Consistency is key to maintaining the results of aesthetic treatments and achieving long-term skin improvement. A tailored skincare regimen prescribed by a qualified skincare professional complements in-office treatments by:

Sustaining Results: Continued use of medical grade skincare supports the ongoing benefits of aesthetic procedures, prolonging the effects of treatments like dermal fillers or laser resurfacing.

Preventive Care: Antioxidant-rich formulations protect against environmental damage (e.g., UV radiation, pollution) and prevent premature aging, preserving the skin’s health and vitality over time.

Choosing the right skincare products can be overwhelming amidst the multitude of options available. Skincare professionals, including dermatologists and licensed aestheticians, can assess your skin type, concerns, and treatment history to recommend personalized products that complement your aesthetic goals. They provide:

Customized Recommendations: Tailored skincare regimens based on your unique skin needs and treatment plan, ensuring compatibility and effectiveness.

Educational Support: Guidance on product application techniques, frequency of use, and potential side effects, empowering you to optimize the benefits of medical grade skincare.

Integrating medical grade skincare into your skincare routine enhances the efficacy of medical aesthetic treatments, promotes skin health, and supports long-lasting results. By combining professional treatments with targeted products, you can achieve smoother, more radiant skin while addressing specific concerns effectively. Remember, investing in high-quality skincare not only enhances the outcomes of aesthetic procedures but also contributes to maintaining a healthy and vibrant complexion for years to come. Consult with a skincare specialist to discover the personalized regimen that aligns with your skincare goals and ensures your skin receives the care it deserves.

Understanding the Difference Between HA Fillers and Biostimulators in Aesthetic Treatments https://melamedspa.com/aesthetic-treatments/understanding-the-difference-between-ha-fillers-and-biostimulators-in-aesthetic-treatments/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=understanding-the-difference-between-ha-fillers-and-biostimulators-in-aesthetic-treatments https://melamedspa.com/aesthetic-treatments/understanding-the-difference-between-ha-fillers-and-biostimulators-in-aesthetic-treatments/#respond Thu, 29 Aug 2024 22:51:15 +0000 https://melamedspa.com/?p=567

In the ever-evolving world of aesthetic medicine, there are two prominent categories of injectable treatments that are widely used to rejuvenate and enhance facial features: hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers and biostimulators. While both aim to address signs of aging and improve skin texture, they differ significantly in their composition, mechanisms of action, and the results they achieve. Let’s delve into the details to understand their unique roles and benefits.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Fillers:

Composition: HA fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps maintain moisture and volume in the skin. This makes them highly biocompatible and minimizes the risk of adverse reactions.

Mechanism of Action: When injected into the skin, HA fillers instantly add volume and structure to areas that have lost volume due to aging or other factors. They work by attracting water molecules to the injection site, thereby plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles and folds.

Uses: HA fillers are versatile and can be used to enhance lips, cheeks, temples, and jawline, as well as to fill in lines and wrinkles. They can also be used for non-surgical rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) and under-eye rejuvenation.

Duration of Results: The effects of HA fillers are temporary, typically lasting between 6 months to 2 years depending on the type of filler used and the area treated. Over time, the body gradually breaks down the HA molecules, necessitating maintenance treatments to sustain the results.

Biostimulators (Collagen Stimulators):

Composition: Biostimulators, also known as collagen stimulators, are typically made of synthetic materials such as calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) or poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). These substances stimulate the body’s own collagen production over time.

Mechanism of Action: Unlike HA fillers that provide immediate volume, biostimulators work gradually by stimulating fibroblasts (cells responsible for collagen production) in the skin. This leads to the gradual formation of new collagen, improving skin elasticity and firmness.

Uses: Biostimulators are often used to address volume loss and improve skin quality in areas like the cheeks, temples, and jawline. They are particularly effective for patients looking for longer-lasting results beyond what HA fillers can provide.

Duration of Results: The results of biostimulators are not immediate and typically develop over several weeks to months as collagen production increases. Once collagen is stimulated, the effects can last anywhere from 1 to 2 years or even longer in some cases, depending on the patient’s age, lifestyle, and the product used.

Choosing Between HA Fillers and Biostimulators:

The choice between HA fillers and biostimulators depends on several factors, including the patient’s aesthetic goals, skin condition, and desired longevity of results. Here are some considerations:

Immediate vs. Gradual Results: HA fillers provide instant volume enhancement, making them ideal for quick fixes or for patients wanting to see immediate changes. Biostimulators require patience as results develop gradually but can offer longer-lasting improvements in skin quality.

Treatment Areas: HA fillers are versatile and can be used in various facial areas for volume restoration and contouring. Biostimulators are typically used in larger areas to improve overall skin texture and elasticity.

Longevity: While both treatments are temporary, biostimulators offer the potential for longer-lasting results due to their collagen-stimulating properties.

In conclusion, both HA fillers and biostimulators play valuable roles in modern aesthetic medicine, each offering unique benefits depending on the patient’s needs and preferences. Consulting with a qualified aesthetic practitioner is crucial to determine the most suitable treatment approach tailored to achieve desired aesthetic outcomes effectively and safely. Whether opting for immediate volume restoration with HA fillers or investing in long-term skin rejuvenation with biostimulators, advancements in injectable treatments continue to provide patients with a range of effective options to enhance their natural beauty.
