- Harassment
HackMelbourne does not tolerate harassment in any form from participants. Sexual language and inappropriate imagery is not appropriate for submitted projects or at any time or place during the event, including talks, workshops, and online media. Attendees violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event at the discretion of the event organizers.
2. Re-use of past work or starting early
We highly encourage that project submissions are only prepared during the hackathon (20th - 22nd August). However, if you decide to submit a project that you have worked on beforehand, that uses re-used code, or has previously been submitted in any other hackathon, you must disclose such information and the extent in the submission. Teams that start working on the project at commencement of the hackathon (Friday 20th) will be automatically given 2 bonus points.
If upon inspection, it is found that the project has re-used code that was not disclosed with the submission, the organizer may ask the participant to point out similarities and differences between the old and new work, and/or disqualify the submission from winning awards automatically.
3. Plagiarism
HackMelbourne has a strict no plagiarism policy.
- Ideas do not have to be original, but the implementation must be original.
- Open source libraries, frameworks and starting points are allowed, but teams must disclose what they created at the event, and what was already made (make sure to respect any licenses). Judges will only consider new additions made.
Any violation will result in disqualification from winning awards automatically at the discretion of the event organizers.
ReportingIf you suspect any violations of these regulations, please report immediately to the event organizers either through personal chat on the Melbourne Hack discord or via email [email protected].
