This time weโ€™re bringing you 3 tracks, 2 workshops, and a chance to pitch as one of our finalists ๐Ÿ†. For each of the 3 tracks, a problem statement will be released during the opening ceremony ๐ŸŽค, which teams will have to address for their chosen track. Whether youโ€™re aiming to hone your hackathon skills ๐Ÿ’ป or eager to compete in one of the biggest hackathons in Melbourne ๐ŸŒ†, sign up now for FREE registration via our link in bio ๐Ÿ”—.

Requirements

How to Submit Your Project on Devpost

All hackathon projects must be submitted via Devpost. Follow these steps to get set up and ready:

 

 

1. Create a Devpost Account
  1. Go to https://devpost.com

  2. Click Sign Up (top right).

  3. You can sign up with GitHub, LinkedIn, or email.

  4. Fill in your profile (name, photo, bio).

 

 

2. Join the MelbourneHack 2025 Devpost Page
  1. Visit the MelbourneHack 2025 Devpost event link (weโ€™ll provide it in Discord and at the Opening Ceremony).

  2. Click Join Hackathon.

  3. Make sure youโ€™re logged in with your Devpost account.

 

 

3. Form or Join a Team
  • Teams can be 1โ€“4 members.

  • Once youโ€™ve joined the hackathon on Devpost:

    1. Go to the Participants tab.

    2. Invite teammates using their Devpost usernames or emails.

    3. Confirm your team formation before you submit.

 

 

4. Prepare Your Submission

When your project is ready, click Submit Project on the hackathon page. Youโ€™ll be asked to provide:

  • Project name

  • Description

  • Chosen track
  • Demo: video submission showing most/all the features of their app (under 5 mins)

  • Product: a GitHub link/ link to hosted website/ apk/ exe...

  • Team members: including team membersโ€™ student ID and contact emails

  • Register for First Year Team (if eligible) in submission

 

 

5. Submit Before the Deadline
  • Final submission deadline: Monday 1st September, 11:59pm (AEST)

  • Late submissions wonโ€™t be accepted, so aim to finish early.

Judging Criteria

  • Relevance
    How well does the product address the problem statement? Does it stay focused on solving the right issue?
  • UI/UX
    Is the product visually appealing, easy to navigate, and responsive? Does the overall user experience feel smooth and intuitive?
  • Platform Choice
    Was the chosen platform (web, mobile, desktop, etc.) a good fit for the product? Does the solution make effective use of the platformโ€™s strengths?
  • Usefulness
    Is this something people would actually want or need? Does it solve a real problem or offer clear value?
  • Innovation
    How fresh or unique is the idea? Is it a new take on an existing solution or something that hasnโ€™t been done before?
