The Richard N. Merkin Center for Pure and Applied Mathematics is dedicated to serving Caltech and the Division of Physics, Mathematics and Astronomy by strengthening our mathematical community through innovation and collaboration. We aspire to cultivate a thriving intellectual home for foundational discovery in pure mathematics while building bridges to transformative applications across science and engineering. In close partnership with the American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) and peer institutes worldwide, we expand the formats and pathways through which mathematics flourishes, supporting workshops, conferences, and seasonal schools, as well as public events that share the beauty and power of mathematics.
