Updates to The Boilermaker Code Training

The National Joint Rules and Standards Committee has amended the Uniform Referral Standards and Joint Referral Rules under Article 5 Registration for Grandfathered and Non-Grandfathered Primary List Applicants to include the Boilermaker Code training as a mandatory requirement for applicants wishing to remain on or register for the Primary List, effective December 31, 2020. Non-Permanent Grandfathering Period on MBDS

As of January 4, 2016, the Non-Permanent Grandfathering period for the Primary and Secondary out-of-work lists has expired in accordance with Articles 5.1.1.2 and 5.2.2 of the Uniform Referral Standards and the Joint Referral Rules, and the previous extensions. ALL Grandfathered Applicants who do not meet the requirements of Article 5.1.1 by this date are ineligible for referral. Annual Drug Testing Notification

Please be advised that the recent changes to the Uniform Referral Standards and Joint Referral Rules did not change the MOST Drug Screening Policy that states: Starting August 31, 2015, all Boilermaker applicants must have an annual drug test. Please refer to the annual drug testing memo distributed to all local lodges from Roger Erickson, MOST Administrator.

Annual Drug Testing Reinstated

Effective August 31, 2015, the MOST Board of Trustees has amended the Drug Policy to include annual testing. All eligible Boilermakers for referral on the MBDS who do not comply with the new policy by that date will move to the ineligible list until a negative drug screen has been completed and received by the MOST office. Project Management Class Scheduled

The next MOST Project Management class is scheduled for the week of January 10, 2016. Click here to obtain an application form. Deadline for application submission is Friday, November 6, 2015.

The Project Management Program trains qualified Boilermakers on how to manage projects for our signatory Contractors in a business-like manner, make decisions that positively impact project goals and provide an overall benefit to the union, Owners and Contractors. This week-long class is designed to teach upper management skills. As such, applicants with extensive supervisory experience are encouraged to apply.

The Boilermaker Code Unveiled

The Boilermakers have embarked upon a historical endeavor to impact the attitude and conduct of every construction Boilermaker in North America. Called The Boilermaker Code, it was developed to educate our Boilermakers on how the consequences of inappropriate actions by a few impact the future of our entire craft, and to provide every Boilermaker with a clear directional beacon for conduct each day on our job sites.
