Naples Comprehensive Health Announces James Yeh to Board of Trustees

Naples, Fla. – March 18, 2026 – Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) today announced the appointment of James Yeh, former President and Co-Chief Investment Officer at Citadel, to its Board of Trustees.

Yeh brings decades of global financial leadership and advanced analytics expertise to NCH. During his more than 25-year career at Citadel, one of the world’s leading investment firms, Yeh served as President and Co-Chief Investment Officer and was responsible for overseeing several of the firm’s investment businesses. He was also instrumental in building Citadel’s statistical arbitrage business and expanding the firm into new investment strategies.

“James brings an extraordinary combination of intellectual rigor, strategic thinking, and operational leadership,” said Scott Lutgert, Chair of the NCH Board of Trustees. “His experience guiding complex organizations and using data-driven insights to make decisions will be incredibly valuable as NCH continues to advance clinical excellence and innovation in healthcare for our community.”

Yeh joined Citadel in 1993 as one of the firm’s earliest employees after earning his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley. Over the course of his career, he led several of Citadel’s key investment businesses, including Citadel Global Equities and Global Quantitative Strategies, helping drive the firm’s growth and reputation for disciplined, research-based investing.

“Healthcare systems today must combine clinical excellence with strong financial stewardship and disciplined long-term strategy,” said Paul Hiltz, FACHE, President and CEO of NCH. “James’s experience overseeing complex global investment portfolios and advising major institutions on financial strategy will strengthen our board as we continue to invest in innovation.”

Beyond his business career, Yeh has been active in higher education governance and institutional investment oversight. He served as a Charter Trustee of Princeton University and as a Director of the Princeton University Investment Company (PRINCO), which manages the university’s endowment. In these roles, he has helped guide long-term strategy and financial stewardship for one of the nation’s leading academic institutions.

“I am honored to join the Board at NCH and contribute to an organization that is committed to improving the health and well-being of our community,” said Yeh. “NCH has built an impressive reputation for clinical excellence and quality of care, and I look forward to supporting its continued growth and impact.”

Yeh earned an A.B. in physics from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley.

NCH Pediatric Emergency Department Achieves Near-Perfect National Pediatric Readiness Score

Naples, Fla. – March 18, 2026 – The Pediatric Emergency Department at NCH’s North Hospital campus has achieved a 99 out of 100 score on the 2026 National Pediatric Readiness Project (NPRP) Assessment, placing it well above the national average score of 80 and the average of 88 for hospitals with similar pediatric volumes.

The National Pediatric Readiness Project is a nationwide initiative that evaluates emergency departments on their ability to provide safe, high-quality care for children, including pediatric-specific equipment, policies, staff training and quality improvement processes.

With a score of 99, the NCH Pediatric Emergency Department ranks 11 percent above the national average for facilities with similar pediatric volumes and is among a small group of hospitals across Florida to complete the national assessment.

“This achievement reflects more than 18 months of collaboration and dedication from teams across NCH,” said Caitlin George, Administrative Director of Emergency Services at NCH. “Our Pediatric Emergency Department staff, clinical leaders and hospital leadership worked together to ensure our processes, training and resources meet the highest standards for pediatric emergency care.”

NCH leaders say the work will continue across the health system with the next goal being to integrate all NCH emergency departments into the National Pediatric Readiness Project. By strengthening pediatric readiness across the system, NCH is raising the standard of care for every child it serves.

“Providing exceptional care for children is a responsibility we take very seriously,” said Paul Hiltz, President and Chief Executive Officer of NCH. “This recognition demonstrates the strength of our emergency teams and our ongoing commitment to ensuring families across Southwest Florida have access to the highest levels of pediatric emergency care when they need it most.”

Pediatric readiness efforts are gaining momentum statewide. The Florida Pediatric Readiness Bill, titled the Health Care Patient Protection Act, is scheduled for a Senate floor vote soon. If passed, the legislation would require hospitals across Florida to implement evidence-based pediatric emergency care policies and participate in the National Pediatric Readiness Project assessment.

NCH continues to expand pediatric services across our region through its collaboration with Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and the Van Domelen Institute and planned Pavilion for Women & Children, which will further enhance specialized care for families in Southwest Florida.

NCH Announces the Launch of its Advanced Heart Failure and Solid Organ Transplant Program

Naples, Fla. – March 11, 2026 – Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) today announced plans to expand its premier cardiovascular service to include the foundation of an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant program, reinforcing its commitment to delivering the highest levels of advanced care to Southwest Florida.

The strategic initiative is positioned as a natural next phase in the evolution of the comprehensive cardiac care model, and builds upon the nationally recognized success of the NCH Rooney Heart Institute. NCH’s heart team, repeatedly recognized among the nation’s leading cardiac care programs, was named one of America’s Top 50 Hospitals, placing it in the top 1% of U.S. hospitals for overall clinical excellence, including cardiac care, and was also recognized among the nation’s top hospitals for cardiac care by Money magazine.

“Expanding our heart failure capabilities will further strengthen the foundations of our robust mechanical circulatory support program, while enabling the sickest of patients access to innovative left ventricular assist devices (LVAD) and/or heart transplantation,” said Robert J. Cubeddu, MD, President and Brynne and Bob Coletti Endowed Chair of the NCH Rooney Heart Institute. “Our program is grounded in clinical excellence, innovation, and outcomes that consistently exceed national benchmarks. This next step reflects both our readiness and commitment to delivering world-class care for patients in the region.”

Central to the expansion is the depth of the physician proficiency already in place at the Rooney Heart Institute, including specialists with extensive experience in heart transplantation, critical care and novel mechanical circulatory support solutions. Physicians such as Tommy Caranasos, MD, Vivianna Navas, MD, and Lavinia Kolarczyk, MD among others, bring forth extensive background in cardiothoracic surgery, heart failure management, and transplant-related care, allowing NCH to build upon its strong clinical foundation. The transplant institute will also house and ignite in parallel the foundations of other solid organ transplant capabilities, including kidney transplant.

“During these past four years, we have established the pillars of a highly successful heart failure and cardiomyopathy program at NCH; the next logical milestone is the development of a heart transplant program,” said Viviana Navas, MD, Section Head for Heart Failure and Letica Family Endowed Chair at NCH Rooney Heart Institute.  “Having previously lead one of Florida’s top heart transplant programs for seven years, combined with the clinical depth and infrastructure now in place at NCH, uniquely positions us to succeed and deliver the highest levels of cardiac care to our community.”

The launch of an LVAD program will be pivotal to the next phase in growth, providing advanced therapy options for patients with refractory heart failure who are either not yet transplant candidates, awaiting transplantation, and those for whom mechanical circulatory support is the most appropriate long-term therapy.

“We already have the essential pieces in place, from experienced surgeons and cardiologists to advanced intensive care, imaging, perfusion, and multidisciplinary support teams,” said Tommy Caranasos, MD, Vice President of the NCH Rooney Heart Institute, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and James and Jaimie Yeh Endowed Chair. “This important announcement and milestone represent a logical and responsible next step in the growth of our program, allowing us to care for increasingly complex cardiac patients while keeping them close to home and supported by their families.”

NCH has engaged in comprehensive planning across clinical, operational, and regulatory pathways, as well as strategic academic and regional collaborations to ensure the program meets the most rigorous standards of quality, safety, and patient outcomes. “NCH’s growth in advanced cardiovascular care reflects the extraordinary dedication of our clinical teams and the trust our community places in us every day,” said Paul Hiltz, President and CEO of NCH. “From pioneering complex procedures to expanding access to clinical trials, this next important initiative represents another step forward in transforming heart care for Southwest Florida.”

In recent years, the NCH Rooney Heart Institute has continued to advance cardiovascular innovation and access to the latest therapies. NCH has been recognized among the top 5% in the nation for overall cardiac services for seven consecutive years (2020–2026) and has received national distinctions for excellence across pulmonary, cardiac, orthopedic, and critical care.

NCH emphasized that the announcement reflects a comprehensive planning and strategic process. No final timelines have been established, and the organization will share updates as it progresses through feasibility analyses, regulatory review, and partnership discussions.

NCH Celebrates 70 Years of Service and

Naples, FL., March 4, 2026 – In March 1956, a determined group of physicians, nurses, volunteers, and community leaders united around a shared belief: the community deserved exceptional care. They opened the doors to what would become Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) not simply to establish a hospital, but to build a foundation of quality healthcare for the Naples community.

Seventy years later, that promise continues to define the organization.

What began as a single community hospital has grown into a comprehensive, nationally recognized health system serving Southwest Florida with advanced cardiovascular and stroke care, orthopedic excellence, expanding pediatrics services, and enhanced oncology programming with a wide range of growing specialty services. From the beginning, the focus has remained on meeting the evolving needs of patients and families.

Over the decades, NCH has expanded access to care, invested in state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical technologies, recruited nationally respected physicians and clinical leaders, and strengthened academic and research collaborations. These efforts have elevated both the quality and accessibility of care throughout the region.

In recent years, that transformation has accelerated. As healthcare continues to evolve, NCH has modernized facilities, enhanced care coordination, broadened specialty services, and built systems designed to serve both current and future generations. National recognition has followed, reinforcing its standing as a trusted provider of high-quality care.

Behind every milestone stands the people who made it possible.

For seven decades, generations of nurses, physicians, therapists, technicians, support staff, administrators, and volunteers have shaped NCH through their expertise, integrity, and compassion. Their dedication has created a culture where clinical excellence and human connection go hand in hand. Families have turned to NCH in moments of uncertainty and entrusted its teams with their most important healthcare decisions.

“Reaching 70 years of continuous service is a significant achievement. Sustaining excellence over that span of time reflects resilience, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to those we serve,” said Robert Cubeddu, MD, Brynne and Bob Coletti Endowed Chair and President of the NCH Rooney Heart Institute and Chief Clinical Innovation Officer at NCH. “As medicine continues to advance at a rapid pace, our responsibility is not only to honor the strong clinical foundation built over the past seven decades, but to lead with innovation, elevate quality, and ensure that patients in Southwest Florida have access to the most advanced, evidence-based care.”

As a nonprofit healthcare system, NCH’s strength has always been rooted not only in clinical excellence, but also in the generosity of those who believe in its mission. The philanthropic support of donors throughout the years has helped expand programs, advance technology, modernize facilities, and ensure continued access to high-quality care. That partnership between caregivers and community has been instrumental in sustaining NCH for seven decades.

“It is because of that enduring generosity and shared commitment that NCH stands 70 years strong today and is positioned to serve patients and families for generations to come,” said Paul Hiltz, President and Chief Executive Officer at NCH. “As NCH marks this milestone anniversary, it honors the vision of its founders, recognizes the contributions of its current team members, and looks ahead with purpose. Healthcare will continue to change, and NCH remains committed to evolving with it, guided by innovation, driven by quality, and united in its mission to serve the community.”

The foundation built over seven decades not only tells the story of where NCH has been; it positions the organization to lead into the future with strength, clarity, and continued dedication to patients and families.

Brynne Coletti’s Legacy, and a Gift to Transform Cancer Care

When Bob Coletti talks about his late wife, Brynne, the stories come fast, vivid, and full of motion. She was the kind of person who made life feel larger the moment she walked into a room. She celebrated big. She believed big. She expected “big” of the people around her, not because she demanded attention, but because she saw potential and insisted it was worth chasing.

That spirit now continues through a $10 million gift from the Brynne and Robert Coletti Family to NCH, strengthening oncology care with a focus on women. Brynne passed in December 2024 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She and Bob were married for 43 years. The decision to give was not sudden or symbolic. It grew out of the life they shared and from Brynne’s steady belief that when something can be made better for someone else, it should be. As Bob said simply, “She wanted to help out NCH.”

Coletti Family

NCH will recognize the gift through the naming of the Bob and Brynne Coletti Women’s Cancer Program, expanding access to cancer care in our community. For Bob and their children, the program is less about a name and more about continuation. It is a way to carry forward the way Brynne moved through the world, noticing people, caring deeply, and expecting that even in the hardest seasons, dignity and compassion should never be optional.

A gift shaped by the way Brynne lived

Brynne did not do life halfway. As Bob says, she “lived BIG.” She dreamed big, celebrated big, and loved big.

That bigness showed up in the details that mattered most: how people were treated, what they carried quietly, and what could be made better if someone cared enough to notice.

Bob saw it firsthand during her cancer journey. While much of her specialized treatment happened at Duke, Brynne also received care close to home, including regular infusions and local testing. Over time, those visits sharpened something Brynne already had in abundance, empathy paired with a practical instinct to improve the experience for others.

Brynne had little patience for cramped spaces and impersonal systems, especially when someone was already carrying the weight of illness. She would see what others accepted as “just the way it is” and ask why it could not be better, kinder, more human. That perspective helped shape the Coletti family’s decision to invest in the future of oncology care at NCH.

Their family chose to focus here, in the place Brynne called home, and on the kind of care she experienced firsthand. The decision was less about strategy and more about heart.

The heart of her legacy was people

If you asked Bob to describe Brynne, he will tell you, “I never met anybody like her.”

He talks about the way she noticed the person behind the circumstance. The waitress’s daughter, who had to drop out of school during COVID. The student who needed a computer, a windbreaker, and someone to show up on move-in day. The families who just needed a little help bridging a hard moment. Brynne did not just give. She followed through. She made it personal. She made it bigger than money because she made it about dignity.

In one story Bob shared, Brynne traveled to meet a young woman she was supporting through the Guadalupe Center, visiting her at college on move-in day. Brynne brought what the student would not have been able to provide for herself, then did something only Brynne would think to do: she bought pizza for an entire dorm so the student would feel known, welcomed, and seen. She understood that belonging is its own kind of medicine.

Bob often says she believed in people, sometimes more than they believed in themselves. She chased her dreams, and she pushed others to chase theirs, too.

“She did big.” Now her name will, too.

Brynne’s legacy is also a legacy of women lifting women.

This gift will strengthen NCH’s oncology services and further advance the expanding oncology program. It will also enhance NCH’s clinical collaboration with Northwestern Medicine, increasing access to expert consultation, second opinions, advanced treatment protocols, and strategic program guidance for patients throughout Southwest Florida.

For Bob, the purpose is deeply personal and quietly hopeful. “Our hope is that this gift honors her memory by helping women receive the care, support, and hope they need at every stage of their journey,” he shared.

A love story that became a community story

When Bob reflects on the years of treatment, he speaks about consistency. Showing up. Staying steady. Never leaving her side. They shared 43 years of marriage, and through illness, that foundation never shifted.

That love, and the family it built, is part of what makes this gift more than a donation. It is a continuation.

Because Brynne’s story was never only about what she accomplished, though she accomplished plenty. It was about how she made people feel. It was about the way she noticed. The way she showed up. The way she made others bigger, braver, more supported, more themselves.

And now, through the Bob and Brynne Coletti Women’s Cancer Program, that same force will be felt by women and families across our community, in exam rooms, infusion suites, surgical recovery, and the moments in between.

Brynne lived big. This gift ensures her legacy will, too.

Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) in Collier County has received a $10 million donation from Robert Coletti and his family to strengthen women’s cancer care services. The gift honors the life and legacy of his late wife, Brynne Coletti, who passed away from cancer in December 2024. The contribution will be dedicated specifically to oncology care for women, with the goal of improving access to advanced treatment, innovation, and coordinated care within the local community.

Paul Hiltz, president and CEO of NCH, described the donation as an “extraordinary gift” that demonstrates a deep commitment to women facing cancer. He emphasized that the Coletti family’s generosity will help ensure that patients in the community receive compassionate, coordinated, world-class care close to home.

The funding will support oncology services across multiple NCH locations. This includes the outpatient infusion center near NCH Baker Hospital, the gynecologic oncology clinic for women, and the women’s oncology surgical wing at NCH North Hospital. In recognition of the family’s contribution, NCH will name the initiative the Bob and Brynne Coletti Women’s Cancer Program.

The donation also reinforces NCH’s collaboration with Northwestern Medicine, an academic health system based in Chicago. The affiliation, announced in 2024, was designed to enhance cancer care by providing patients with access to expert second opinions, advanced treatment protocols, clinical trials, and strategic program guidance. At the time the partnership began, NCH reported approximately 1,500 oncology visits per year and expressed plans to double that number or more.

Hospital leadership noted that although NCH has offered oncology services for years, about 40% of Collier County residents have historically sought cancer treatment outside the area. One key component of the collaboration includes the development of a women’s cancer center at NCH North, with the broader goal of keeping more patients in the community for high-quality cancer care.

NCH First in Florida to Activate New Implantable Therapy for Sleep Apnea

Naples, Fla. – Feb. 25, 2026 – Naples Comprehensive Health (NCH) has become the first healthcare system in Florida to activate a new implantable therapy designed to treat obstructive sleep apnea, marking a significant milestone for patients who struggle with traditional treatments such as CPAP.

The therapy, known as GENIO, uses gentle electrical stimulation to help keep a patient’s airway open during sleep. Unlike CPAP, which relies on pressurized air delivered through a mask, the GENIO system works from inside the body by supporting the muscles that control tongue movement, a common cause of airway collapse in people with sleep apnea.

Two patients were recently activated by the sleep medicine team at NCH’s Pulmonary and Sleep Center, led by Jose Valle, MD and Gaja Shaughnessy, MD along with the program’s nurse navigator.

“Activation is the moment when the therapy is turned on for the first time and customized for the patient,” said Gaja Shaughnessy, MD, pulmonologist, NCH Critical Care, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. “After the device is implanted and the body has healed, we carefully program the stimulation
so it works in sync with the patient’s natural breathing during sleep.”

GENIO is a form of hypoglossal nerve stimulation therapy. In simple terms, the system sends mild electrical signals to the nerves that control tongue movement, helping prevent the tongue from relaxing backward and blocking the airway during sleep. The implant itself does not contain a battery and is powered by a small external component worn under the chin at night, allowing therapy to begin only when the patient is asleep.

“For many patients, sleep apnea isn’t just about snoring, it’s about oxygen levels, heart health, daytime fatigue, and overall quality of life,” said Jose Valle, MD, pulmonologist, NCH Critical Care, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine. “This technology gives us another option for patients who have not been successful with CPAP and are looking for a proven, alternative approach.”

Sleep apnea affects millions of Americans and is associated with serious health risks, including heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, and diabetes. By becoming the first in Florida to activate this bilateral nerve stimulation therapy, NCH continues to expand access to advanced, patient-centered treatments in Southwest Florida.

“This milestone reflects our commitment to bringing leading-edge therapies to our community,” Dr. Valle said. “Patients no longer need to travel out of state to access this level of sleep apnea care.”

Patients interested in learning whether they may be candidates for implantable sleep apnea therapy should speak with their sleep medicine provider or contact the NCH Pulmonary and Sleep Center at 239 624-8250.

“This extraordinary gift reflects a deep commitment to women facing cancer and to the future of oncology care in our community,” said Paul Hiltz, President and CEO of NCH. “Through this generosity, the Coletti family is helping ensure that members of our community receive compassionate, coordinated, world-class care close to home.”

The donation will support oncology services across several key locations, including the NCH McGlothlin Outpatient Infusion Center, the women’s oncology surgical wing at NCH North Hospital, and the NCH gynecological oncology clinic for women.

The foundational contribution builds on NCH’s growing oncology program and its clinical collaboration with Northwestern Medicine, providing patients in Southwest Florida with greater access to expert second opinions, advanced treatment protocols, and strategic program guidance.

“Brynne’s strength and grace continue to inspire us,” Bob Coletti said. “Our hope is that this gift honors her memory by helping women receive the care, support and hope they need at every stage of their journey.”

Philanthropy plays a critical role in making these advancements possible. Transformational gifts such as this one help bring cutting-edge programs to life, accelerate innovation, and expand access to specialized care that might otherwise require patients to travel far from home. Through continued philanthropic support, NCH is able to keep more Southwest Florida residents close to their families, their support systems and the care they need. The system provides real time analysis during procedures, helping gastroenterologists identify subtle polyps and abnormalities that might otherwise be missed, and has increased polyp detection rates by nearly 14 percent. This technology reinforces NCH’s commitment to advanced, technology enabled care and encourages recommended screening beginning at age 45 for average risk individuals to improve outcomes through early detection.
