Assembly Bill 5792 not only requires 12 weeks of paid counseling, but it corrects a failure in the workers comp system in NJ by now permitting an officer to select their own therapist as opposed to one chosen by their employer.

In addition, A5792 provides confidentiality for peer counseling performed by trained officers for their communication with fellow officers in need of mental health support.

The State PBA is grateful to Assemblyman Roy Freiman (D-16) for his sponsorship and to Speaker Coughlin for prioritizing the bill during the busy Budget season. We are looking forward to seeing the bill posted for a vote in the Assembly and for the Senate to move its version, S4590, in the next few weeks.

Most importantly, every dollar raised goes to our Survivor & Welfare Fund, supporting the families of those who gave everything in the line of duty.

This legislation would put healthcare entities on a spending budget, create an independent watchdog commission, rein in rising hospital costs and build on the foundation laid by the Office of Health Care Affordability and Transparency.

This included “auctions“ of a signed President Trump hat, and a foursome for a future day of golf at this prestigious course, which raised significant money at the end of a successful day!

This event proves once again, rain or shine, our blue family always shows up strong.

Just yesterday, U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas spoke out against the heinous psychological warfare being launched against judges. Judge Salas pointed to pizzas being delivered to judges’ homes under her son’s name. “It is outrageous that a former prosecutor would jeopardize public safety by exposing judges’ and officers’ names and home addresses.

We must prioritize the safety of every person covered under Daniel‘s Law and its amendments. The data broker industry and their lobbyists could care less about the men and women judges, prosecutors, and law enforcement officers whose lives would be put at risk from removing this law,” said President Andreyev.

Unfortunately, this the resolution to the dispute will cost you more money in higher hospital costs and higher Chapter 78 contributions. As you can see from the attached matrix, Hackensack Meridian is hardly underpaid for their services.

We are disheartened that both sides in this dispute attempted to use our members as pawns.
