CAMBODIA – Naihieng’s parents knew their little girl would need surgery one day. Born with a cleft lip, Naihieng not only struggled to eat, she suffered from respiratory and other health problems, as well. At the age of 3, Naihieng was becoming more sensitive to her appearance, and her family hoped she could eventually receive life changing cleft lip surgery. Her dream, said her mother, was “to be beautiful, to smile, and to be healthy.”

Overcoming Barriers to Medical Care

Their family of six lived in a small village in Kampong Cham Province, Cambodia. Naihieng’s father, Chheang, worked hard in a fish market and as a night guard. Her family had planned so carefully to try and help her. Yet that plan for “someday surgery” was sidelined when her father faced sudden health problems of his own.

When friends like you heard about this family, our caring partners immediately took steps to make this precious child whole again. Thanks to your generosity, Naihieng was referred for life changing cleft lip surgery at the New World Medical Center in Phnom Penh—with the entire cost of the operation fully covered.

The Lasting Impact of Life Changing Cleft Lip Surgery

And what a difference your love made! Today, this sweet young girl is smiling, truly smiling. It’s now easier for her to eat, she’s gained weight, and she can pronounce words much better. The whole family is delighted that she’s able to enjoy social gatherings without fear of embarrassment.

Naihieng’s mother said, “Seeing how she enjoys life with the new lip—and seeing her smiling every day—makes our family rejoice with her!” Because your compassion overflowed, we were able to provide a life changing cleft lip surgery on the other side of the world.

WORLDWIDE – Water is a precious gift—a gift that far too many people can’t access. But you are changing that and giving many communities hope for a brighter future through a gift of clean water solutions that meet their specific needs. Your support enables us to provide the best possible clean water solution for each location, making a true and lasting difference. Here are just a few of those stories.

Honduras

On the small island of Boca del Río Viejo, located off the coast of Honduras, water provides the livelihood for many local fishermen. But it is also the source of one of their greatest heartaches.

For years, Alisson (age 4) and her two sisters had no choice but to drink water from hand-dug wells built with stones—or worse, old tires. High tides often flooded the wells, leaving the water yellow and tasting like salt.

One day, Alisson started vomiting. Her mother panicked. “I thought I would never see her alive again.” Alisson’s father rushed her by boat to the nearest health center and learned she had parasites. Something had to change.

That’s when your love saw the people on this vulnerable island and provided the materials to construct a long pipeline to pump water from more than six miles away, as well as treating it for heavy metals like arsenic. Since the soil is not strong enough to support traditional water towers, you made it possible for smaller storage tanks to be built across the island.

The gift of clean water solutions in this region ensured that the infrastructure was tailored to the unique geography of the island. “When I found out clean water was coming, it was such a joy,” Alisson’s mother said. Thank you for giving Alisson’s family—and the entire community of Boca del Río Viejo—hope for a better future! And you are sending that same hope much further.

Jamaica

Your kindness also surrounded Saneek, a single mom with four children in Jamaica, after she lost everything in Hurricane Melissa. Saneek collected what water she could from a barrel in a neighbor’s yard. “As soon as it ran out, we didn’t have any more,” she said.

Thanks to your support, our disaster response team was able to bring her a portable water filter, so she could sanitize water from a local stream to make sure it was safe for her children to drink. Your kindness also provided clean water distribution centers in remote areas across the nation during the recovery process.

Thailand

And on the other side of the world, our compassionate supporters answered the prayers of a farming village in Thailand.

Before you intervened, families in Baan Thalong collected rainwater in large containers, but it was never enough. They often had to walk down a rocky path to a river that was full of chemicals.

Pastor Ekasit said, “Despite this, we had no choice but to use and drink it.” When the river ran dry, they had to purchase expensive water—if they could afford it. Even then, the people of Baan Thalong held onto hope in God.

Your compassion provided a new well at the local church—right in the heart of the community. This sustainable gift of clean water solutions has transformed daily life for the villagers. A local farmer, Wilai, said: “Now, we can transport water to our homes, storing enough for two weeks before returning.” The church even has enough to share with visitors.

Thank you for changing the lives of families and entire communities around the world!

NIGERIA — For years, the people of the Gbegbasna community struggled without clean water in Nigeria. Families were forced to walk a half mile to the nearest stream to collect water that was filled with bacteria and unsafe to drink. During the dry season, the stream often dried up completely, leaving the community with no reliable source of water at all. Without access to safe drinking water, daily life became a constant challenge for children, parents, and elders alike.

Water Scarcity and Unsafe Drinking Water in Rural Nigeria

The only water source available to the community was frequently contaminated. Animals drank directly from the stream, polluting the water and causing illness among adults and children.

“The stream we fetch our water from is always contaminated because animals drink from it, leaving us and our children sick.” — Godiya

clean drinking water changes lives

This lack of clean drinking water in Nigeria affected every part of life—from health and hygiene to dignity and daily routines.

Clean Water Solutions Bring Hope to the Gbegbasna Community

That’s when friends like you stepped in.

Through the installation of three new water wells, Operation Blessing helped provide clean water in Nigeria to the Gbegbasna community—bringing safe, reliable drinking water directly to their doorsteps. These wells now serve 980 people, eliminating the need to walk long distances and removing the fear of waterborne illness.

“We were having a serious water scarcity challenge. … Now we can get safe drinking water at our doorsteps.” — Joy

How Access to Clean Drinking Water Changes Lives

With clean water available every day, families no longer worry about where their next bucket of water will come from—or whether it will make them sick. Children can bathe regularly. Parents can focus on caring for their families. The entire community has regained a sense of stability and health.

“Sometimes we go days without water to take our bath. … Thank God for using Operation Blessing to come to our aid. We are immensely grateful.” — Ashabwa

VIRGINIA – “I knew that I had a cushion. That if I went over the amount in my account, the bank would go to my savings and get it.” These are the words of Natasha, a loving grandmother who answered the call to be the primary caregiver for her “bonus” grandchildren. But she didn’t anticipate how quickly she would need a Virginia food ministry to help her bridge the gap.

The money flowed out faster than it came in, and the cushion she was counting on slowly disappeared. Natasha soon faced bank fees she never intended to incur—fees that came from the desperation of trying to care for her family during an already unpredictable economy. With her husband living on disability and her income already stretched thin, Natasha carried the weight of providing for growing children with no margin for error.

A Sustainable Virginia Food Ministry

Thankfully, you sent help when she needed it most. Natasha connected with an Operation Blessing partner, a local Virginia food ministry that provided food, emotional support, and a deep sense of relief in a season filled with uncertainty. This partnership is a cornerstone of our efforts to provide hunger relief in Virginia.

“That ministry has done a lot for my family! I thank God that they were there to help us get the food and feed the kids.”

Natasha no longer has to fear whether there will be enough at the end of the month. Your generosity helped fill the gap when her expenses exceeded her income. Your kindness ensured her grandchildren had food on the table. And your love reminded Natasha that she is not alone.

In moments when financial strain seemed overwhelming, friends like you became the steady place Natasha could count on—proving once again that your love truly reaches around the world through our hunger relief charity programs.

MANDULOG, ILIGAN CITY – The rain began around 10 o’clock at night. At first, it was just heavy. Then it became terrifying.

“I was devastated,” Charie Mae Lid-Awon said. “I cried for days. I went home, but home was no more because it was destroyed.”

flood damage

A Night No One Slept

As Tropical Storm Basyang (Penha) pounded the region, the creek behind Charie’s house kept rising. The sound of rushing water grew louder in the darkness.

“Immediately we evacuated to my mother’s house. I took my kids. We didn’t sleep at all! We stayed alert at all times, keeping an eye on the water level.”

By 3:00 a.m., the alarm was raised. The floodwaters in Iligan City had reached neck level.

Water rushed in through an unfinished riprap near their home. “If the flood didn’t rise, our houses wouldn’t have been destroyed,” Charie explained. The structure was new—less than a year old—but it failed when they needed it most.

In a single night, years of hard work disappeared.

“I worked hard to build our house,” she said. “In a snap, in one typhoon, destroyed.” Their food, clothes, and belongings—gone. “We really need food bags and beddings.”

For families like Charie’s, the loss was overwhelming. But they were not alone.

Restoring Hope After Floodwaters in Iligan City

Operation Blessing immediately mobilized partners and volunteers in Iligan City to reach out to families affected by the massive flooding.

“Every family will receive food bags, water, hygiene kits, mats, and blankets,” said Chris Clapano of Operation Blessing. “Aside from the material things that we will provide, each family will also receive a piece of artwork.”

These special artworks were created by pupils from one of our partner schools. Each drawing carried words of encouragement—small but powerful reminders that someone cares.

Through the generous support of friends like you, more than one hundred families—including Charie’s—have already received critical supplies. A mobile water station was also set up to provide clean water to the community, as the floodwaters in Iligan City had contaminated local sources..

When disaster strikes, families urgently need food, safe water, and basic necessities. Thanks to compassionate partners, help arrived quickly in Mandulog.

When Charie received the supplies, gratitude replaced some of the sorrow.

“We Won’t Give Up”

“Thank God for the generous hearts who blessed us with these!” she said. “We won’t give up!”

TURKEY – At 15, Fatma knows what it is to be on the run. When she was just 5 years old, her family was one of many that fled war-ravaged Syria, seeking security and the chance at a new life as refugees in Turkey.

They felt safe in their new home—until a massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit southern and central Turkey in 2023, causing widespread devastation and tens of thousands of fatalities. Buildings toppled, roads buckled, and entire neighborhoods vanished. Fatma’s home was destroyed. Once again, this Turkish child refugee was left with nothing.

Crisis Recovery for Syrian Refugees in Turkey

For a while, Fatma and her family lived in a makeshift shelter constructed from items they found along the road. While her mother looked after the eight children, her father worked at a job doing manual labor. When the family eventually had a chance to move to a camp for Syrian refugees, a more permanent sort of home, it meant starting all over—again.

That’s when your love changed everything for Fatma. She began coming to a community center that friends like you helped established to provide food, water, and shelter for refugee children in Turkey after the earthquake. There, Fatma attended English classes and learned the language quickly. She even began helping our team as a translator.

Educational Support and Long-Term Relief

Even though Fatma is not currently able to attend an official school, she is taking full advantage of educational programs offered through the center, surrounded by a loving, supportive community. There, she can learn and grow, alongside other children who want to discover more about the world around them.

That’s why the center means so much to Fatma! After years of being on the run, she has found a warm, safe place where she can feel like part of a community and dream about a better future—something she hasn’t had much opportunity to do in her short life. You made that possible!

Thank you for caring and coming to the aid of teenagers around the world—children whose lives have been impacted by forces beyond their control. Your loving embrace truly does make an incredible difference for refugees in Turkey.

MEXICO — In the quiet hills of Cintalapa, Mexico, María and her husband, Ramiro, spent their days working hard, caring for their family, and praying for strength. Then both noticed their sight beginning to fade.

The Burden of Vision Loss

For 79-year-old María, what began with cloudiness in her right eye soon worsened. She could no longer thread a needle or sort the beans she cooked daily. Even the sun became painful. Heartbreak set in as the faces she loved most began to blur. “I confused my family’s faces,” María said sadly.

Eighty-five-year-old Ramiro, a lifelong farmer of corn and beans, tried to ignore his blurring vision, but the fields he once knew so well became hazardous. He began to stumble on the well-worn paths, and worry set in. “I’ve even injured myself with work tools because I can’t see well,” Ramiro said with concern.

Overcoming Obstacles to Care

The couple’s adult children did all they could, but finding affordable cataract surgery in Mexico was an impossible hurdle. Their daughter Ana María said, “I wish I could help my parents; they’ve always taken care of my nine siblings and me.” Having no other option, Ramiro and María watched life through a growing blur, praying for help they could not afford.

Life-Changing Surgery Restores Hope

Then friends like you stepped in. Through our Life-Changing Surgeries program, María and Ramiro received cataract surgery in Mexico, and with restored vision came restored joy.

Once more, María could cook confidently and sew without pain, and Ramiro returned to his beloved fields without fear. Best of all, they could see their grandchildren’s faces—and look upon the bright eyes and wide smiles that were clear once more. Music swelled as Ramiro picked up the guitar and began teaching his grandson again.

When our Operation Blessing team visited them after their recovery, the family gathered to celebrate the miracle of cataract surgery in Mexico and what God had done through your kindness. There were tears and laughter as parents, children, and grandchildren rejoiced in the gift of sight restored.

Because of friends like you, María and Ramiro are reading their Bible again and enjoying the simple beauty of life together. Your love traveled across borders and reached a humble home in Cintalapa, bringing healing, help, and hope.

Resident Standing Amidst Rubble

CHILE—Weeks have passed since the fires in Chile devastated the central coast, but for survivors in the hardest-hit areas, the road to recovery is just beginning. Recently, Operation Blessing gained access to one of the most severely affected zones—an area that had long remained closed due to the overwhelming scale of the tragedy. It is here, among the ash and rubble, that local authorities are still working to account for those who remain missing.

In the Ríos de Chile area, Operation Blessing spoke with residents Ruth, Rosa, and Humberto. Each of them shared deeply personal accounts of the terror they experienced and the heartbreak that remains. Their stories offer a glimpse into the extraordinary strength of one of the most devastated communities.

Resilience Amidst the Fires in Chile

From there, our team traveled back to Penco—another impacted area where Operation Blessing has been actively providing aid. There we met 19-year-old Isidora , along with her mother, Evelyn, and younger brother, Joaquín.

Isidora had been home alone the night the fire approached. She fought to protect their home until nearly 3:30 in the morning, soaking the structure with water in a desperate attempt to keep the flames at bay. Her efforts were courageous—but in the end, the fire took everything. When her family returned from a church outing the next day, they found their home destroyed. The family, united in faith and a shared love for music, now faces the difficult task of starting over.

Others in the community have shared their own video recordings with our team on the ground—powerful, firsthand footage captured during the fires. These clips now serve as vital testimony to the scale of destruction and the resilience of the people who endured it.

Firsthand Wildfire Footage Still

Rebuilding Lives After the Tragedy

Though the fires have subsided, the need remains great. Today, Operation Blessing continues to provide meals through our mobile food truck, serving wildfire victims and volunteers working diligently to clear away debris. Every hot meal is a reminder: you are not forgotten. You are not alone.

Thanks to the support of compassionate friends like you, survivors are finding hope in the midst of loss following the fires in Chile. The rebuilding process will take time—but the spirit of these communities is unshaken. Even as they sort through the ashes, they are pressing forward.

MYANMAR – For Khine, life was already a struggle after her husband left, as she raised her 9-year-old son alone. Despite her financial challenges, Khine also took in her friend Andar and her daughter. They worked the fields together, surviving day by day until a massive earthquake struck.

Immediate Disaster Response After the Myanmar Earthquake

When their town was hit, Khine’s home was destroyed. “I was feeling so low because we no longer had a home. I can’t afford to rebuild,” Khine told us. Because of donors like you, the Operation Blessing Myanmar earthquake relief team rushed to the community the day after the disaster. Over the next three months, we delivered critical supplies and provided food, clean water, and medical assistance to earthquake survivors.

HONDURAS – Water is one of Earth’s greatest gifts. It has the power to sustain life, create landforms, and perhaps even to heal. But for young Jostin and his mother Nora in La Sierra, Honduras, water was a source of pain and sickness—a thief of health and happiness. For many years, families in this remote region would struggle to find water that didn’t cause immediate illness.

The Daily Struggle to Find Water

While most of us enjoy access to clean water, families like Jostin’s struggled daily to find water that was safe to drink. Before friends like you stepped in to help, their only option was a dirty river nearby. When Jostin drank from the contaminated water in hopes of quenching his thirst, his body paid the price. When children struggle to find water to survive, they often turn to these unsafe sources out of sheer necessity.

“My stomach hurt a lot,” Jostin said. “It burned, and I even curled up from the pain.” He recalled his body shaking with agony.

“My stomach hurt a lot. It burned, and I even curled from the pain.

-Jostin

Contaminated River Water Source

Uncertain of his fate and filled with fear, his mother, Nora, took him to the local health center—by foot. Nora comforted her son the only way she knew how. Jostin shared, “She told me we would get there, and on the way, we knelt down to pray.” In their village, it was a common struggle to find water that was pure enough for a mother to give her child without fear.

A Sustainable Water Solution for La Sierra

Their prayers were answered far beyond what they expected. Not only did God bring Jostin through his sickness, God sent friends like YOU to help his entire community. Thanks to your compassionate support, Operation Blessing was able to provide the residents of La Sierra with a community water system, latrines, and handwashing stations.

“Now the water is very purified, clean, and I have never gotten sick again,” said Jostin.

The thoughtfulness of friends like you gave a new beginning to this entire community. La Sierra is no longer synonymous with sickness and despair. Instead, it’s a place filled with hope and brighter days ahead.
